  1. I know what you mean, about being stuck/loyal to software that is Windows only. So, 12 months before Affinity came out of hiding; I treated myself to a refurbished/2nd hand Mac. I Ran Bootcamp so I could have both options. This may not be the answer, that you were looking for...but it is cheaper in the long term; when compared to Adobe's subscription system.

  2. I would also like to request windows support. affinity photo seems already miles ahead of the photoplus app (and costs around half of photoplus; not unimportant).

I am reluctant to buy any more of the windows plus series (I have bought two licences, but almost never use it). Pageplus for example is quite a nice program, but it's slow, pdf import/placing is wonky, the UI looks ancient. I have a suspicion the affinity developers will do a better job with the affinity range than the Plus-range developers. (it is taking them almost 2 years to develope an upgrade for drawplus)

Hi Markio, welcome to the forums.

The Plus range is prosumer/Windows only.

The Affinity range is professional Mac only. For the time being.

The Affinity team have been in production for 4 years.

Affinity Publisher, APu, will be out at the end of 2015. Don't forget to visit the road map to see what's coming next.

  3. Ronnie: this follows a request to draw an egg. MattP responded to this so elegantly. Even I was amazed, so I Pinned it.

Retrograde: for the time being my Pinterest board (Affinity Designer) seems to be the only external gallery (my favourites) dedicated to AD.

    Eggs + Bunnies=Easter.

Hope that clears up any doubts...

PS if you want anything put into an egg, just ask.

  4. Hello everyone.

I'm just a retired old geezer with almost zero artistic skills but a decades old interest in technical drawing. I used to use Freehand with a Powermac running OS 8 for that (back when it was a Macromedia product). I have looked for years for an affordable vector drawing app that runs on modern Macs. For a while I tried making do with Freehand MX running in "Rosetta" emulation mode on an Intel Mac but when Apple dropped support for Rosetta with the release of OS 10.7 Lion, that became even more impractical than it already had become.

To be honest about it, I had never heard of Serif until I read about Affinity Designer being the Mac App Store runner up. Being cheap cautious I downloaded the trial version but it only took playing with it for about ten minutes to convince me my search was over & to visit the store & buy it.  :)

I have only used it for about a week & only explored a fraction of what it can do but it has already become my favorite drawing app of all time.

You should chat with jackamus and see what he has contributed.

  5. Hi, my name is Mike. I am an anesthesiologist using software to illustrate things for publishing, so I am really happy for Adobe alternatives.
