Cealcrest reacted to Giovanni Pietri in Very very disappointed with Publisher 2
I know this message could be a bit off topic here, but...
I want to congratulate the team that makes it possible to have Affinity, and I have just mounted a hardcover book of 315 x240 mm, (not a flyer or brochure for a restaurant only, but those works also are professional work, right?) in deluxe edition for the Ministry of Culture of my country, the book has 60% high quality photos and 40% texts of 360 pages whose typography of large titles is one that I have designed myself, this book already had much advanced work and was about to close edition, and has not given me any problem to open it in APublisher 2.0 and work it cleanly, with confidence and security in what one knows how to do, we also have a phrase here: Who does not risk. .. does not win!
Being that in my country the vast majority of people in the field use pirated software for almost everything, including Adobe suites, also Corel and Quark, the price of about 80 gringo dollars, it's a bargain for three high quality programs that also work linked, are fast and efficient, plus they can be installed on the damn iPad, get that from other companies, that would cost you an egg ... and the other one too!
Be patients, I´m sure the dev team would fix the issues in the next days.
hugs

Thank you for your comments! I totally agree!.. been a bit frustrating reading comments that are dominating the Forum at the moment.. So a few things to consider...
1. Version 2.0 is, overall a fantastic new release with so many useful features helping to improve workflow and offering some significant new creative solutions. many of them have been asked (or demanded!) for on this forum for years!.. I am already using it to update brushes and create some new ink drawings. It is smoother faster, more efficient and is reasonably stable!. I personally find it a complete pleasure to work with.. but I will certainly will have to adopt my workflow to consider the array of new options.
2. When there are new releases in Apps | Software there are issues. this release is no exception. There is no way software can be developed that will work on all devices and installation configurations instantly from the moment it is released so patience would be a good option to consider.
I am completely confident that many of the emphasised issues will be resolved quickly with patch updates and version updates.
3. The Serif team deserve congratulations and support for the release of version 2.0 I am sure it has been a lot of hard work
4. Yes! There are features that could added.. their is certainly a lot of scope for future development.. which is great!. I will be looking forward to new feature additions.
This is Version 2.0., you can easily predict that there will be 2.1, 2.2 ,2.3 +patches, etc just as there was with version 1.0.
5. Development is not free.. it costs time, money, organisation and creative thought... something people should accept!.
There are a lot of new features in this latest offering.. Some of which I have certainly not explored yet. Affinity 2.0 is not a little update ..but just to recap...if people take the time to watch to launch the videos and explore the apps in more detail I think you might find that the features detailed are only the 'tip of the iceberg'
In Designer (which is my favourite!😀) There are loads of new features and improvements... I don't know how many as it would take me a while to list them but!......
Some of the new features in Designer
UI mods | Document re-design and organisation | New layers Panel | Content Linking | Vector Warp | Drawing scales | New Tools: Shape Builder | Knife Tool| Measure & area Tools | Style Picker | New Selection options | Stroke Controllers | Updated Booleans | Node tool Enhancements | New options for placed content | Brush | Improvements | More Import | Export options | Multiple layer Effects
These are some of some of my favourites under the hood!:
Allow Selections to consider items inside a group | Split vector curve at midpoint | save and edit templates directly | reorder brush nozzles | List last used brushes on layers | New Distance Controller | X-ray mode | Isolation mode | Style Picker | Knife tool | Fill Holes | Remove Inner Curves | Add a vector inside pixel layer | Flood fill reference layer | Warp tools | Close line with Pencil
and once again..
Big thanks to Serif and the team for all your hard work.. much appreciated!😀

Cealcrest reacted to MmmMaarten in Version 2 is awesome! And that price is amazing
I am surprised to see so many salty comments here on this forum complaining about a gift they got in the form of a brand new version with many great new features. With weird arguments about the incredible price and about features they wanted to have but aren't there yet. There are so many negative comments that I felt the need to write a little counter balance here:
I was very happy to see today the email about the new Affinity upgrade which, when looking at the commercial page about it, has a lot of great new features a lots of people were missing in v1 and asked about and now are there! And besides that I also read about lots of great changes that really make a difference.
Way the go Serif! Great launch of a full complete package clearly a lot of effort have been put into. And having all applications for all platforms together for just 120 euros is a great price!
Would be nice if some people here would show a little bit more respect and understanding about what software development actually means and what things like this cost to create in real life. Maybe then there would be a little bit more understanding in how great this price - value actually is.
From me: thanks Serif for all the hard work! 👍 😀

Cealcrest got a reaction from billtils in WOW new your subscription price like "adobe" based on 2.0 . . .
$55/3 years = $0.05/day
Confused what your point is.
Generally software doesn’t do well in the long-term investment section of a financial portfolio.
Isn’t the going standard for technology 5 years before obsoletion? Maybe less now! I’m not saying I like it, but that’s the reality we live in.
And no, it’s not a subscription. Don’t buy the new versions if you don’t want and keep using your old ones as long as you can. That’s how Adobe (and literally everyone else!) used to be too, before they went subscription.

That extra click is annoying! Mostly I use my own custom presets, so the scrolling doesn't bother me personally.

Woohoo! So excited. Started to watch the update video and had to stop 2 minutes in because I couldn't concentrate. Had to go buy the universal license before I could settle down.
Thank you to everyone at Serif for all the work you do and for the epic release offer. You guys are awesome!

Even thought I haven't been as active in the forums over the last few months, I instantly recognized your work in the sample files for AD2. Right on!

Personally looking forward to testing out the new software and upgrades. For me, graphics is just a hobby, but it might become a source of income in the near future. A door that has only opened to me because of Affinity and their one time purchase model. Clearly there are mixed feelings from the small sample size of those that posted so far, but I'm definitely in the camp that's excited. I see this as more than just a new version with some updated features... this is just the beginning of 2.0. And really the amount of upgrades they've given us today is on par with Serif's usual annual updates to their software, perhaps even a bit more. Remember there will be new updates and more tools to come down the road, all for free, no subscription! To buy the entire suite to be used on all platforms at one reduced price is phenomenal. Buying 2.0 is a no-brainer! I honestly wouldn't have bothered getting the licenses for my Ipad (I usually just use my laptop), but since it's included in the suite I'm going to definitely try it out. Thank you Serif for providing us updated tools to use and enjoy, can't wait to dig in!

Illustrator is such a trainwreck and, apart from the collapsable UI panels woefully designed. Very cumbersome all over the place.

Only the new Add Layer icon threw me. It looks like a battery meter or something. I like the old icons because I'm used to them, but I don't care enough to gripe. 😜 I'll be used to the new icons in a week or so. The new features are awesome and are the real point, IMO.

Well done Serif ! Thanks to all for your hard work.
The Universal License for so little money and all we get... it's unbeatable.
And yes, for some nothing will ever please them.

It's a nice update, but I was really hoping for a new addition to the lineup. For example a Lightroom or video editor alternative. Don't get me wrong a UI update is welcome, but nothing special, or 'BIG' like it was told us.

I made two screen recordings that shows pull down menu vs. the icon menu for exporting, and the bad choice of a scrolling interface.
