  1. Seeing this I decided to check and came up with this using a CR2 file(20.17MB) from my Canon EOS 70D Stable 1.6.5.123 Program Load: 20.86 secs Load CR2 file: 5.43 secs Develop Adjusted File : 6.48 secs Beta 1.7.0.188 Program Load: 17.20 secs Load CR2 Adjusted File: 9.0 secs Develop Adjusted File: 15.87 secs These tests were run with my anti-virus, AVG (Free version) disabled since I always will disable it when post-processing. I also tested with anti-virus enabled and there was only a one or two seconds difference.
  2. It seems to work for me. I hate noise, and am real cautious with my exposure settings. I tried it with one of my Super Moon shots. I had to pull the shadows waaay up to get some nshowing. Then I used the Live Denoise filter and it took checking extreme and going to at least 1,193 % to see it was blurring the noise. I must admit I would think it should be a little more sensitive.
  3. I've not read anything about Serif developing Office type apps, spreadsheet or presentation. I think they're more geared toward illustration, publisher, and photo apps, ie; going after Adobe Photoshop and the like.
  4. Hi Gradient_Phil and welcome to the forums, I have an old Wacom Intuos 3 small tablet that works fine with Affinity Photo. You know you can customize brush settings
  5. Most of the time I just click on the icons found along the bottom of the Layers Panel. Clicking on the White and Black circle brings up a menu of those adjustments.
  6. I just started playing around with overlays in the Develop Persona, and I see what you mean. There's a way without removing the effect/adjustment, and that's selecting one of the overlays and then move the Opacity slider above the Overlay panel. I think it would be very helpful and beneficial to be able to rename the overlay, just like in the Channels panel. OR just like you stated, hovering over them to reveal the mask again.
  7. AlainP, I think all they really done was to place the Color Format and Converting the ICC Profile into the same Menu. The Color Format is located at the top in the drop-down menu. It looks to me anyway it accomplishes the same thing.
  8. First you need to do a little studying in photography. Trying to shoot a panorama in burst mode is going to get you a lot of real blurry images while panning. A panorama is a series of single shots, that overlap each other by about 1/4-1/3. They are then stitched together in software. Here's a link to Canon's website where you can download the manual for that camera. Canon G7 MarkII Camera Manual Youtube videos on how to shoot panorama photos How to Shoot Panorama using  DSLR The other questions, Focus Merge and Focus Stacking, requires you to know how to shoot them. For instance, Focus Stacking or merging is mainly used in Macro Photography. It is fairly difficult to do without some pricey equipment. The Depth of Field is so narrow in macro photography, minute movement of the lens changes the focal plane. This is to-and-fro, not sideways. Most of the time the camera is mounted on a tripod with a rail system, so the camera can be inched forward or backward in very small increments, taking a frame each time. It's something I probably am not doing a good job explaining here. You just need to invest some time in learning. Even though you're getting a great little point and shoot camera, some aspects just do not lend themselves to just pointing and shooting. YouTube is your friend, I've learned a lot there.
  9. By your description it seems you're in the Develop Persona, perhaps working on a RAW file? You need to be in the Photo Persona. The Save and Save as saves your project file (afphoto). You can choose to just Save if you're working on a Bitmap (JPG, PNG) type file. Be aware, Affinity Photo will not prompt you that it will over-right the file. What I would recommend is selecting from the File Menu, Export and then in the dialog that opens choose what format. However the warning you get when trying to close the file, pops up in the Develop Persona, because the RAW file needs to be Developed to a Raster (pixel) file. Here's a link to where you can find about 200 official Affinity Photo Tutorials. They will help understand how to use the program. Affinity Photo Official Tutorials
  10. That's what I was thinking since I wasn't able to locate them searching my system. Thank you.
  11. I'm interested in locating texture files (png) on a Windows 10 machine, used in the brushes? I've tried searching my PC but so far unable to locate where they are installed. I want to use a texture fill from a couple of those brushes.
  12. Hi Stantheman, Welcome to the forums. Have you tried setting this up in Lightroom? It's done in the Preferences, Edit>Preferences>Eternal Editing. Go to the Bottom panel of that tab. Press the Choose button, navigate to the location of Photo.exe file. By default in Windows might be C:>Program Files>Affinity>Affinity Photo. Select the Photo.exe file. You can then setup your preset such as Color Space, file type (Tiff, PSD, JPG), and so on. Once done you should be able to send the image to Affinity Photo for editing, when done click SAVE not Save as. Some screenshots to help. I have used it numerous times. I did however purchase Affinity through their store, not MS.
  13. In the Live Lighting Filter, the handles are missing on screen. Beta 1.7.0.184
  14. Trying to use the Live Perspective Warp, and there's no Grid showing even though it is checked. Also I discovered that you can grab a corner of the image and move it, it will cause AP to freeze. It doesn't last long, so no need to force close. Beta 1.7.0.184 EDITED: Tried it again and came up with the masking boxes.
  15. Yes doing what's called Global Cloaning. Here's a tutorial video showing how Global Cloaning
  16. I can confirm that here. It seems like it ignores the ALT key, or for that matter all except the arrow keys. It moves the document up, down, right or left.
  17. I agree, I liked the ability to control the radius. I hope it's an oversight removing it, and they put it back in.
  18. Ok, I wasn't clear on the problem. I wasn't trying to load into AP any of those file types. Windows just reported they crashed while I was launching this beta version. I had to look them up to find out what types of files they were. I shoot Canon cameras, so have no need for Fuji, Minolta, Sony.. ect, RAW files.
  19. I've researched the file types that were reported as crashing and changed by Windows to Photo. They were: raf (Fuji Raw File) pef (Pentax Raw File) orf (Olympus Raw File) mrw (Minolta Raw File) crw (Cannon Raw File) arw (Sony Digital Raw) These crashed while loading AP Beta. I've changed the default for them.
