Copying and pasting not working correctly
Ron P. replied to phyreburnz's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
Hi @phyreburnz welcome to the forums Hardware Acceleration is on by default. Have you checked? The Copy/Paste is an OS Clipboard function. You should be able to copy something in one app and paste it into another unrelated app, so long as it is of the same type, ie; a photo editing app, one that works with graphics. For example I copied an image in AP, and was able to paste it in Designer, Corel PSP, and MS Paint. Check to see if you can paste into another app. In your video, it does appear you're working with Pixel images, in fact it looks like you specifically Rasterized one of them. So that shouldn't be the issue here. -
@dre. Here's a couple of screenshots of AP. Do you see the difference? It's as plain as day. Affinity apps use File Explorer for the File>Open dialogs. It uses it's own UI for the Recent dialogs. There's no similarity, none. Just like having 2 separate apps. Serif has already stated that they have went as far as they can on their side to get the thumbnails viewable, however it's up to MS to do their part. You keep saying Serif can, or should. Serif said no they can't, so that's the final word, not your baseless demands. It does not matter if Coreldraw can, their code is way different than what Serif used for the Affinity apps.

You're only reading and accepting what would serve you. It's been posted, the Recent aspect of AP, is part of the application. The Open dialog is not, it is the OS explorer or finder, whichever platform is being used. It's just that simple!! Windows (MS) for unknown reason(s) is not seeing the thumbnails, once Onedrive seizes it. You think that Serif really wants to spend the tremendous amount of money, a lawsuit against MS would bring? Really? Then why have they not? I really don't think they can justify that expense to satisfy you, as you seem to be about the only one complaining.

What changed, what's different to when it would not crash? That's where I'd start investigating.

AI generative Fill in Affinity
Ron P. replied to WMax70's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Have you tried the chatgbt? You are aware that one of the creators of the recent AI, Musk,(X.AI), states that he is very concerned. The AI technology falling into the hands of the wrong people, (think current US mess), will have devastating consequences on the population. AI already has the ability to do things we wished it never would. AI can out think, come up with solutions, before a human can begin to process the problem. Yes AI for creative art is nice, but that's not what it was developed for. If you think it was you're very naive. Just like most all social media used today, FB, Twitter, Google, ect, were all created and developed by D.A.R.P.A. Why would they have any interest in social media platforms?- 437 replies

Through more testing I've found that you don't need to follow the OP's recipe to get AD to crash. So far I've managed to crash AD: File>New, choose any document size Not creating an artboard Not changing the color profile to CMYK FOGRA 39 This last time I just created a new document, I used one of my presets 5472x 3648, RGB 8, then drag and drop a JPEG. However the Layers Studio must be floating. If it's docked no crash. EDITED; AP will crash doing the same. d2bad7ce-c9a8-4a19-9d50-bbb7020875bb.dmp

Problem with Clone tool in AP
Ron P. replied to jackamus's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
So what was different in the two areas? The crosshair when you select a source will move parallel to your clone brush. For example if you select a source area near the edge of your image, the source could go off the image, which results in no source to be cloned. Don't give up on it, that tool is very powerful. -
StudioLink question
Ron P. replied to ChrisNewton's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I don't know about Macs, but I didn't have to. In fact I tested for this when updating, by opening Publisher first before updating Photo or Designer. I was surprised that Studio Link worked. -

Adjustments on mask...Plz explain!!!!
Ron P. replied to Chuck Bigfat's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
You are aware that the Adjustment layers and Live Filter layers have their own built in masks? Could it be that the Adjustment layer's mask is competing with the Layer mask you applied? EDITED Have you tried Clipping your texture image inside the text, without rasterizing the text? Then applying the Levels Adjustment to the clipped texture? -
Buggy UI - Colour Panel -> RGB Hex -> Hex Input
Ron P. replied to Ezbaze's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
I can confirm what Exbaze is reporting. Checking this in V1, you can mouse-click off a field and it is set. However doing the same in V2.1 it does not. So one or the other could be considered a bug. -
Batch Job - Raw to JPG results in underexposed JPGs
Ron P. replied to Pentaxx's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
Are you running a macro to Develop them? Simply running a batch job to convert raw files to jpeg is not going to adjust exposure, tonal values, sharpness, ect. EDITED I've never managed to get a batch job, running a raw develop macro to work on many image files. It may work, but all the raw files need to have the same exposure, aperture, ISO, shutter speed. I may not fully understand the work-around, but I think that AP applies the values set when building the macro, to all images used. So any variations in the input files, will result in different results for your exported (developed) files. AP just is not designed to develop, with any accuracy, more then 1 raw file at a time. It's not like LR, where you can develop a raw file, then "sync" it to others. -
Affinity Photo : is Show Others menu buggy?
Ron P. replied to ch22's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
I can confirm this. However I'm thinking it has to do with screen re-draw. After doing the Show-Others, zooming out or in, even just a little, the rest appear. 2023-05-27 13-00-16.mp4
