  1. 😲😲 I have to ask, are you just wanting it to fail? Why would you choose to view a small thumbnail over looking at the workspace, big image? Using the button at the bottom: Immediately pops up the selected adjustment panel. You complained that you must first click the default before getting the actual dialog. You get a much larger look at the adjustment while you're making them, without the dialog closing. "Painfully Slow", might be caused by something else, like outdated drivers, PC specs? There's numerous reasons for this, without posting them, we just don't know. Here's some suggestions: Affinity FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) Affinity on Desktop Support & Questions
  2. I'm not sure this is the correct way, hopefully some of the "pros" will jump in. What I done, was just create empty layers, 1-ea for Red, Blue, and White. Then moved the respective groups into the layer. Then ungrouped the groups inside the layers. I left the Text group alone. Sorry don't know anything about Cricut machines. 3. First and foremost, is what you're trying to select a Image layer or a Pixel layer? It must be a Pixel layer to create a new Pixel layer from. As Pruus suggests, provide the afphoto file, or a screenshot that includes the layers panel, or a short screencast showing what your doing.
  4. Short answer-No. This is something that has been requested many times, for several years, in the Features and Suggestions forum. Why you can't? Because those are all Presets. Once you make any change to them, even resize, then what you've done is create a new brush. You would need to save it as a preset. BUT, I think that even if you done that, once you resize it, or change any other properties, again you have a new different brush, so we're back to square one. How many times are we changing things like size, opacity, hardness, ect... on brushes? Apparently Affinity sees each one of those as new brushes. They need to come up with some way that allows tracking, where just because we change some property, the brush is not new, unless we decide to save the new settings.
  5. Welcome to the forums @Costas2021, First, the tutorial is showing the on-line editor PhotoPea. This generally shouldn't be important, however becomes important due to how it treats the SVG file. As you can see in the tutorial the SVG file has many Groups. Did you download the SVG format or PNG? If the latter, then there's nothing but a flattened pixel layer, no groups or Layers. Different programs treat the layers/groups differently. Affinity Designer treated them as Layer-Layers not Group-Layers. So since they are not Groups, there is not a short-cut command to ungroup them. I'm not very well versed in Designer, but all the searching I've done, reveals that the only way to ungroup the Layer-groups is to open them, select all the sub-layers, then drag them out of the layer-group. I watched some of the tutorial, and if you're just wanting to remove the color, there's really no need to ungroup. Just open the layer, select all the sub-layer, can be done by selecting the first sub-layer, not the one labeled Layer, then holding down Shift and selecting the last one. Then go to the Color Panel and selecting the color, which the tutorial states White. That's what I'd do, instead of ungrouping them. In fact, unless PhotoPea doesn't allow it, even if they're grouped, I would just leave them grouped, much easier to manage.
  6. Did you read loukash's reply? You're responding to a 6 year old post. Furthermore, that person has only 3 total posts, so it's doubtful he's frequenting the forums. In fact he last visited in May 2016
  7. I thought I was in the wrong forum. This is the Affinity on Desktop Questions (Mac and Windows) forum. @MannyG, @HarshMellow, @herrkjeldsen, and @dreikelvin, posts should have been made in the Feature Request and Suggestions forum.
  8. Ok, I'm almost convinced that Affinity Photo is possessed 👻. I tried yesterday repeatedly for over an hour to get that to work, nothing. Tried again this morning for around 30 mins, nothing, Then, while working on FX for text I thought I'd just try again... 😲😲 and it worked. Well I thought that maybe just works on text. So I again drug out a shape (rectangle), entered the equation in the transform panel and it worked. Not believing this, (does not matter nowadays if you see it with your own eyes, doesn't mean it's so), I repeated this and it still works. I've changed nothing in preferences, or anything about the program, it just suddenly started working. 😳
  9. Your welcome. I was a user of the LR/PS bundle for a few years, until they discontinued the perpetual LR version. So I jumped ship to Affinity. I still have and use LR 6, mainly for organization. The closeup/macro using that lens, was because I had watched a video by B&H Event Space, where Arthur Morris and Denise Ippolito done a seminar. In it Arthur shows macro/closeup images he shot using a 600mm prime lens.
  10. Welcome to the forums, The DAM request started years ago... https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=DAM+site%3Aforum.affinity.serif.com&ia=web
  11. 600mm, f6.3, 1/500sec. Also I use an external speedlite/flash.
  12. Here's a sample insect macro I shot using a Canon 70D with a Sigma 150-600mm. Yes those long lenses can be used for close-up/macro. Anyway I just done a quick develop on the RAW image using AP. Garden Spider on Web
  13. I don't have APub, but in the other 2 it's called the Toolbar. Go to the View menu, scroll down and make sure there's a checkmark beside Show Toolbar.
  14. Downloaded the PDF provided by Serbidan, and found: Affinity Photo and Designer will not open the file. Corel PSP 2020, CorelDraw GS 2017, and Libre Office all have no problem opening it. I done some further testing with this. I found that if I export/save the file from CorelDraw right back to PDF, or I export from Paintshop Pro as a PSD (it doesn't allow PDF), Affinity Photo will open those files.
  15. Welcome to the forums @FredL, Which Sharpen Filter? There are 3 to choose from, Unsharp Mask, Clarity, High-Pass. Also are you using the Live Filters or the Filters in the Menu?
  16. You forgot the link to the tutorial...;) I watched it, since I'm subscribed to your channel.. Good tutorial. Here's what I made of it..
  17. https://affinity.help/photo/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Painting/pixel_modify.html?title=Modifying brushes The Accumulation controls the Deviation in the opacity of the brush stroke as it is painted. The Flow controls How fast color is built up under your brush Sorry I don't have any answer for your brush lag problems.
  18. It works for me, so long as I don't close the dialog. After making changes, once you close the edit dialog, you've basically created a new brush. You have not saved this newly created brush, but your changes are the default for it, so there's nothing to reset. Make sense? Doesn't to me either, but that's the way they work. 19. Welcome to the forums @riekus, It's been too long for me to recall how you're going about masking in PS. However in Affinity Photo, there's different ways to achieve what I think you're trying to do. You had to learn how to use PhotoShop, so why don't you think you should learn how to use Serif's products? The learning curve is no more steep than PhotoShop's. Have you tried using the Quick Mask?. Affinity Photo is not PhotoShop, and even the CEO himself, claims that they had no intentions of being the Photoshop replacement. Yet everyone thinks that Serif should darn near clone Photoshop. Why? If they want that, just stick with PhotoShop. That's ridiculous. Why put that in a feature request statement? Want a feature, or making suggestions is fine, but really is that necessary?
  20. Not really, I've seen it called the Pan Tool. They're not workaround, they're how Serif designed their apps. Also it is a problem only when you don't learn how the app works. Ok, I'll agree about proving the validity...
