  1. Welcome to the forums @Gaphumbala, For a complete uninstall do this: After running the Uninstall Programs from the Control Panel, go to C:\ProgramData\Affinity folder and delete the Photo folder. Then go press Win key +R and type in AppData, go to Roaming>Affinity and delete the Photo folder. Now a caveat, if your running the Beta version, you will need to make sure you're only deleting the 1.0 folder and not the Beta 1.0. Before doing that you have tried launching APhoto while holding down the Control key, that brings up the Clear User Data dialog? Press the Select All button, then Clear.
  2. Since the license files are complete, I'm really not sure why your system is throwing a tantrum, and not wanting to run normally. The only logical thing is what's been mentioned before, a permissions issue. What's really puzzling me is how or why windows installed to a ProgramData folder in the Appdata folder. ProgramData should be directly off the root drive C:\. When you installed the Affinity apps, did it tell you where it was installing them? It should have had the default C:\Program Files. (They actually now install to ProgramData, an attempt to thwart virus and hack attempts). You did purchase them from Seriff/Affinity correct? I could see MS doing something like installing them under the Appdata folder.
  3. First I have no clue on what you need for Win7, that's the one version I never got to run. I stupidly went the Vista route. Anyway, I think there's a lot of us that have succumbed to the upgrade pressure. I wish we could still be running Win 3.1 😄
  4. Sorry to hear that you have not got this working. I'm going to make some guesses. On your PC, you're running a user profile that is not an administrator profile. I say this due to the path the error is showing for the license file. That file is license.xml. I looked on my PC and the ProgramData folder is not located under the location referenced in your error message. It is located at C:\ProgramData\Affinity\Designer\1.0 On your PC, go to C:\ProgramData\Affinity\Designer\1.0 and see if the license.xml file is there? If so, you should be able to edit that file using Notepad or any text editor. Right-click on it and select open with notepad or which text editor is showing. Once you have it open you should see an entry <key>numbers in here</key> YOu should be able to enter your license key, then save it. However what concerns me is you don't have security permission to save files to the location Affinity is using. IF not then you will need to change them.
  5. Yep, I did. my mistake..... Gettin' too old to rely on memory. I'm not quite to the stage where I forget why I walked into a room, but close. 😄
  6. Keyboard shortcut (since you're using a keyboard for the CTL part), for zooming to 100% is CTL + 1. For 50% is CTL + 5, for 75% it's CTL + 7 5. Press the two numbers in succession quickly. You can do the same for any between, like 45% would be CTL + 4 5. Online Help File for Zooming
  7. In the View Menu, there's Zoom to Fit and Fit to Width and there is the ability to have Cascading Windows. Go to the Windows menu, select Float All. You have several documents open, that results in all those tabs opening initially Cascading. But tiling will have to be done manually. With Windows if you're really wanting Tiled Windows, after Floating All, then right-click on the Task Bar and Select Show Windows Side by Side. Viola' tiled images. 😉
  8. TWAIN, although had been nick-named, Technology Without an Interesting Name, actually was derived by the Twain Working Group, from Never the twain shall meet. Twain also means two. which describes the problems trying to get hardware and software to work together. Problem in the early 90's starting with Dentists having to scan images, and not wanting to use the proprietary software of the scanner manufacturers. Was a major pain back then and remains to this day. 😉😁
  9. Had to be one of the Moderators or Staff. I think they consider this not a bug, because the image you have opened in AP, is now a afphoto file, not the original. So it can be manipulated and then saved, or exported. This creates a new (copy) of the original, unless you choose export to another format. I think this is better, than having to deal with the file being deleted while being worked on, which might lead to corruption or loss of improvements. Someone else deletes the file, no big deal, just save it.
  10. It seems that the RX 5000 series and newer are a problem. So far they (not Serif) have not been able to correct it. Serif has been waiting a few months on them.
  11. Hi @Muhamed, welcome to the forums, Is your image RGB/8 bit, RGB/16? What format, JPG, TIFF, RAW? I'm not able to replicate this using the HighPass Filter from the Filter Menu>Sharpen. However if I use the Live version, and am using a RGB/16 image I get a crayon affect, looks like the image was done with chaulk or crayons. Could you try using the HighPass Filter from the Live Filter selections? Also try converting your image to RGB/8 using the Document>Convert Format/ICC Profile. See if you still get this.
  12. Hi @i5963c, welcome to the forums, Yep, it sure does crash. If you have a crash report please attach it to this thread. 9d88672b-2be6-44c7-82c0-90ef0df18154.dmp
  13. Hi @resunoiz, Not much info to go on. I'm not able to replicate this, following your directions. What type of photo, jpg, RAW, PNG, TIFF? What brush were you using? It can make a difference. Grouped just the new layer with white spots, or grouped it with your background layer, then rasterized? The common, seemingly routine now, thing to check is if Hardware Acceleration/OpenCL Compute is enabled. This is found in the Affinity Preferences>Performance. Is the problem just with one photo, or any random photo? Where is the file stored/located while working on it? On a local drive, network, or cloud? Serif recommends that documents be on a local harddrive while working on them. Affinity does not load the entire file into RAM, this is to help with performance. Are you using a tablet? IF so what one?
  14. I second what Komatos posted. My system would struggle with that file. the working file with Affinity it's the afphoto files, balloon to huge sizes in no time. Just working with my Canon RAW CR2 files, I have afphoto files that are in to the hundreds of megabites, and they do not contain any HDR images. If you're going to be working with large files, such as HDR images, I would recommend upgrading your system, try around 32Gig RAM to start with, if not 64GB.
  15. Hi @VicViper2k5, welcome to the forums, I think this is a little different than just running dual monitors. I've tried to replicate using my dual monitor setup. While I do use a Wacom tablet, it's an old Intuos 3, and am using a desktop. So a little hard for me to really replicate your issue. Try making sure your drivers are current, up to date. Don't just rely on Windows update. Go to the Driver Manufacturer's website to download them. Nvidia has been pushing out updated drivers fairly frequent, I think I've updated mine about 4 times in the last 6 mos, and it's an old GTX645. In the Affinity Photo Preferences, check under Performance, Renderer what is it set to? Just under that, Retina Rendering, Automatic(Best), Low or High Quality? Then is Hardware Acceleration checked? You might try unchecking it. Then in the Tools section What is the Tablet Input Method set to, Low Precision, High Precision or the dreadful Windows Ink ? Here's a couple threads that might help:
  16. Since migrating from programs (apps) such as Corel's to Serif's Affinity, I've noticed Serif's practice of providing full, complete files for updates is different than Corel's practice of just providing what they call SP or Hot-fix files. They were not the complete program, just what was done to fix problems. It would uninstall and install the necessary parts, not the complete program. I mention that because with Affinity, I've only once just over-wrote, did not uninstall the earlier version before installing the update. I uninstall, using, in my case Windows Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs, then install the updated version. Most of the time I do not experience any of the issues that have been posted, such as the crashing, freezing, UI display. I've also noted that it seems Serif's uninstaller does not remove everything. Settings/Preferences, downloaded brushes, remain. I'm not sure why, but it does save having to redo those settings and re-download those extras. I think, theoretically it's bad for their uninstaller to leave any part of their programs behind. So, with the beta versions, my practice is to completely remove the program before installing the update. This means going to in Windows, Program Data>Affinity>Photo, Program Files>Affinity, AppData>Roaming>Affinity>Photo, then DELETING the associated folder, in this case Photo 1.0. I will also check the Windows Registry for entries and clean that up too. Then reboot my pc, and then install the update. That's a full, clean install of the program. That narrows the possibility of parts being corrupted during the update. I may be missing out on the performance of the HA/OpenCL Compute, because my Nvidia card is too old, so it is not activated by default, but seeing the problems with this, I'm not missing out of much right now. However, I'm not experiencing all the issues either. I do try to run another program, DaVinci Resolve, which has thrown fits when I've updated my Nvidia drivers, causing me to downgrade them to run it, then upgrade for Affinity. I think that shows the problems developers face with trying to provide the latest and greatest, especially in the Windows environment, just way too many variables. All that being said, IF you're really wanting to use Serif's programs, don't be so quick to throw up your hands and give up. It's not just Affinity apps, Serif's fault. IF their app runs without issues on the majority of the Windows' systems, it then falls on the complex, combinations allowed with Windows OS.
  17. @Mike_A, What OS are you running? If Windows, when you uninstall an app, the uninstaller leaves things behind. This is noticeable when you uninstall a version then install the next update, and see that you still have brushes, preferences from the previous install. This is what I occasionally do; After uninstalling, I then go to the Program Data>Affinity(Photo, or whatever App), Program Files>Affinity (again whatever App), AppData>UserName>Roaming>Affinity (Photo, Designer, or Publisher) folder and delete the version that I just uninstalled. Then I install the updated version. This will remove the preferences, brushes, ect, and essentially be a complete clean install. If it's a Paid-for (retail) then you will need your serial number handy, as it will ask for it. I know with TBYB (trial) versions, they install some info buried deep in the OS and/or Registry, that can only be removed with a full clean wipe of the hard drive. Also with the retail versions, they probably record info of your system on their end to prevent piracy. But since Serif does or has allowed this reset, having the residual files/folders, could be what caused the expiration trigger.
  18. Hi @johnleonard, and welcome to the forums. Where did you purchase it? Direct from Serif (Affinity), or Mac-App Store? If you purchased from Serif, you should have an account there. Just go HERE, and login. You can also find them through THIS LINK However if you purchased from the Mac App Store, you can not revert to an older version. You will need to contact the MAS store. Please read this to see if it might help.
  19. This may not be exactly what you're wanting, however try using the Blend Ranges, the cog icon to the right of the Blend Modes. It is a very powerful tool for blending objects.
  20. Try asking in the iPad forum... https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/43-affinity-on-ipad-questions/
  21. Which app, Photo or Designer? Also does the text need to remain editable?
  22. Ok, so doing simple math, unless the 4GB SSD is a typo, you're about 9GB in the Red, ie; short. That would be like wanting to store a softball in a shirt pocket, just doesn't fit well.
