  1. I'm not following why it's not working the same for you. I've tried in both versions and they work the same. If the canvas is not large enough to accommodate the additional 5px outline, you must increase it enough so that it can.

However you can choose the Inside alignment option for the outline fx and not have to fiddle about with increasing canvas size. This also works the same for both versions.

If that is not what you're having problems with, could you please provide a screen recording showing what it is.

  2. No, AP does not have any setting to auto reduce the resolution.

What's the pixel size of your image? It could be that you're image is shot some other size.

Could zip up and attach a RAW image so it can be checked?

I have since posting found other similar posts, so this is not over uncommon, but there was no clear consensus on a fix.

    I agree 100%.

However, the fix is anything but simple. To understand this, do you know how many variables there are for Windows machines, video cards(GPU), and different versions of each processors (CPU), different makes, versions of each? This problem is not unique to Affinity apps, other apps have the same problem when it comes to the Hardware Acceleration working or not.

This is just my opinion: I think due to the way Serif coded Affinity, the usage of mipmaps, where the entire image/document is not fully loaded to memory, whereas other apps do not use mipmaps, so they're apps may have more latitude for excusing errors, and not crash the apps, or corrupt files. But the trade of is, the other apps may not be as fast, responsive, as what the Affinity apps are.

As an aside, I'm in the process of upgrading my machine. Currently my GPU does not meet the requirements for HA, it's too old. So I've purchased a PSU, upping the wattage, CPU, newer faster Intel, and then a GPU/video card. This would make the HA available to me. I'm not 100% exited about this. Why? Because right now, I don't experience any of these crashes, hangs, whatever. My machine is 10 yrs old, and not susceptible to the issues, but soon will be.

  4. I just clicked on the link you provided in your post, which took me to Serif's online Help page, where you're provided links to the proper platform help. Selecting the PC/MAC link, it detects that I'm running Windows, and the Help is based on Windows. The easiest way to check this, is look up the Shortcuts on the online help. For me they're all Windows shortcuts, ie; CTL (control) and not Command.

I don't know why any one would want to read the help information for a platform they're not running. You want to read MAC access using a MAC. The only reason for wanting or needing to read the other, is when working as support personnel to look up information while providing help.

I personally think this is very clever for the web team to design it this way. If not, I know I would not like fumbling through information that would not pertain to my system. However if it wasn't this way, there would be those complaining about having to wade through all the text to just find the help for their system. Yep, I'd be one of those... ;)

Really? When I open a TIFF on my Mac & make no changes at all to it, Save remains greyed out, just like with any other file that I have opened but not altered in any way. In all such cases there is also no asterisk in the file name in the toolbar, indicating it has not had any changes made to it so I can & do close it without getting the warning about unsaved changes.

EDIT: Try opening this small test TIFF.tiff in say AP or AD 2 but do nothing at all to it besides opening it. On your Windows system is File > Save available? For me, it is greyed out.

Not so on Windows, the File>Save is not greyed out.

    Hi Ezbaze,

This isn't a bug as far as I'm aware but is in fact by design. The View Rotation is set on a per document basis which is why it may seem like its resetting but if you switch documents and then switch back to your original rotated document you should notice it is still rotated.

    Thanks
    C

There must be a bug then, because it is not still rotated when switching back. I think that's what Ezbaze is reporting.
