Welcome to the forums @Will Bazlinton, Sorry about the delay in getting a response. While I don't have a definitive answer, I think I can rule out the issue being just with Affinity Photo. I don't have Capture One, but use Lightroom (the last perpetual version). I've tested what you're doing, round-trip from LR, using CR2 (RAW) to PSD. I had no problem with opening numerous images in Affinity Photo. Just a side note, you need to have Enable Save over PSD files checked in Preferences>General. If not, then when you attempt to save the PSD in Affinity Photo, you will get the prompt/window to save the images as afphoto files. I'm also running Windows 10, and was not limited on the number of images.

Is it a JPG image? JPG images do not support transparency. It's better to use PNG images to overlay onto other backgrounds. Try going into the Pixel Persona. You will need to Rasterize the Pianist Layer. Then using the Selection Brush, select the black background, and press Delete. OR Invert the Selection, Selection>Invert Pixel Selection. Press CMD +J to duplicate the selection. You can now delete the layer below, or just Hide it.

Not good, the program should not crash. You might to upload a Crash Report. I found this guy very knowledgeable, and good at tutorials. The tutorial you linked to, I stopped watching soon after starting, because he's constantly moving the cursor all over the place. To me that's very annoying, since we instinctively want to follow the cursor to see what the person is demonstrating.

Try it the other way around. Offer the pic to the square. The result is the same, but you have more options, such as adding a stroke, (border) to the square. Once you've done the above, with the square selected in the layers panel, look at the context menu, and you'll see Stroke. Apply the color and thickness to taste. You can also add an Outline FX.

Invalid file Format

I'm thinking the same. I downloaded the examples from the OP, and also had no problems, after exporting from Designer as PDF/X-3 2003, opening them in CorelDraw 2017. -
I'll try this again.. I posted it in the wrong thread a few minutes ago.. Is this what your wanting? I use the Pixel Selection Brush. Then Refine, and once finished Refining, at the very bottom of the Refine dialog, there's a drop-down menu, Output, I selected New Layer. Then exported to PNG to post here. This example is just to determine how much you're wanting to keep and remove. It was done very quickly.

Welcome to the forums @mulea, I'm not sure if you're wanting to remove just those objects defined by your red markings, or you're wanting to remove those but keep the foreground in focus object. First I recommend you get familiar with Photo's Selection tools and processes. There's numerous ones available. Serif's Affinity Photo Tutorials https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/tutorials/photo/desktop/ Selection Brush Tool Selection Refinement Freehand Selection Tool YouTube Search, Affinity Photo Remove Background Hopefully one of those will help you do what you need to do.

Path Blur Tool
Ron P. replied to Erikdenice's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Yep, it was a prototype, never gained traction so they discontinued it. -
It's defined/displayed by the Checkerboard you should see. If you see white, then the Background is not transparent. To see this, in the Document menu, select it then de-select it. I recommend you spend some time learning the basics of the program. It will help make doing things much easier, less stressful. https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/tutorials/photo/desktop/

I think the reason there is no Merge in Designer, is because Affinity will only allow Merging Pixel Layers. Look at the Designer Help file, search for Merge. There's none, the closest to that is if you search for Merge Visible. I think in error, it gives you the instructions for the View Tool. In Photo, trying to Merge any layer types other than Pixel layers, is not allowed. In the Layers Menu, Merge Down, Merge Selected are greyed out. Merge Visible is allowed because doing so creates a Pixel Layer. You can not merge curve or image layers, other than Merge Visible. If you Rasterize your layer, it creates a Pixel layer, which can then be Merged with other Pixel layers. So I think it might be possible for @ahnay in Designer, to Group the Layers, then just choose to Rasterize the Group, which produces a Pixel layer. Do not use Rasterize and Trim, if you're just wanting the same results as Merging Down would produce.

3d pie chart
Ron P. replied to perfidious's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I think Designer can come close to that. You need to learn how to use the Isometric Grids, to help with the perspective. YouTube search for Affinity Designer Isometric Tutorial
