I can confirm that using the spacebar for panning while using the freehand selection tool is broken again.

What zoom level are you viewing the area or your image when applying the Sharpen brush? In order to see subtle changes you need to be at 100%. To test if the brush is working, do like they do in the tutorials. Make a duplicate of the image, apply the brush. Then do the before/after comparison. Again Affinity Photo is designed where you need to zoom to 100% to observe how your image is being affected by the effect.

I don't use undo/redo buttons. Much faster and easier to just use the keyboard shortcut. I also read the thread Psenda linked to. In that thread MattP commented about not being able to find another app that uses the undo/redo buttons. Of course that was 8 yrs ago, BUT, Corel has had them waaaay back when, and still do. Since I don't use those buttons, I barely notice them on the toolbars. It really would not bother me if Serif did add them.

Strong exposure/tint compensation needed in develop persona
Ron P. replied to ArieV's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
I did not touch the White Balance settings, but did adjust some of the other tonal settings, as seen in my screenshot. In the Assistance Manager, my settings are Take no action for Tone Curve and Exposure Bias. I want to control those. Even if you choose to have Photo apply those, you still must adjust the other settings. Photo will not automatically apply these, it gives us the RAW data with little to no intervention, so we can develop our RAW files as we want them to appear. We may want an accurate depiction of what we saw when we pressed the shutter, or an artistic, creative depiction. I don't see that much difference in what DPP provided. -
Dodge/Burn/Pixel layer
Ron P. replied to barny's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
What I do for Dodging and Burning I learned from a video by Pixel Imperfect on YouTube. He demonstrates we do not need to fill the added pixel layer. Just change the Blend Mode to Overlay or Softlight or even Hardlight. Softlight works better for me. Make sure the Opacity and Flow are set very low. You're painting using a Paintbrush, preferably a soft brush. You paint on the Blank pixel layer, changing the color from Black (for Burning) to White (for Dodging). See Attached Video screen capture example I prepared. 2022-06-06 08-49-45.mp4 -
Welcome to the forums @kathy640, You can change to numerous different measurement units. Make sure Rulers are visible. If not go to View>Show Rulers The far left edge of the horizontal ruler, or top edge of the vertical ruler, in other words in the corner, the intersection of both, right-click and a menu will pop up. Select inches if it's already showing Pixels. Affinity Photo On-line Help-Rulers

Ok, try looking in the AppData\Roaming, directory. Press the Win key + R and copy/paste the following: %AppData%\Affinity\Designer\1.0\user You should see this. You can force Affinity to rebuild the 1.0 folder by renaming it. So go up a couple of folders so you see just the 1.0 folder (%AppData%\Affinity\Designer). Rename it or copy it somewhere else on you system. Then restart Designer, it will rebuild that folder. Do you have brushes now?

What's that mean? You can't access the app from where you purchased it? Where did you purchase AD, Serif/Affinity store or MicroSoft store? Do you have the install file for AD somewhere on your system? If so good, if not you need to be able to download the app again. If you purchased it from Serif, then log in to your account and go to Downloads and Product Keys, download it again. Make sure to download it to someplace on your system and don't up and delete once you have the app installed. I have about 10 versions I keep on an external USB drive. If purchased from MS store, then you would need to make sure AD is uninstalled, then log into your MS account and download/install from there. Now once you have it downloaded, (from Serif) disable your anti-virus, then right-click on the installer file, and select Run as Administrator. If install is successful, Do not launch or open AD. First go to the Program Files>Affinity>Designer>Resources>Designer folder and see if it installed all the propcol files. If those files are there, leave this window open, and launch Designer. What I'm curious about is if your brushes and everything else are there. If not, are all those files still showing in the File Explorer window? When you don't have those propcol files, they either were not installed (corrupt dowload file) or something on your system deleted them. Generally absent a virus/malware, the antivirus program is about the only program that will delete files. Right now I'm thinking good ol' Norton might be behind this. I stopped using it over 20yrs ago, just my personal experience was not good. Others have no issues, so it's a matter of choice.

What version of XnViewMP are you using? I hadn't updated it until now, version 1.0. After doing so I started seeing the short freezing. I played around with having XnViewMP opened to various folders. It seemed worse when it was open to a folder where I was copy/pasting using image(s) from that same folder. Caveat, I can get a short freezing with AP, without having XnViewMP open. I think in this situation it's more to do with the images and where they're located on my system, for example, on a secondary drive. The freezing I'm seeing is 1-2 secs only.

Welcome to the forums @Webfrit, Are you selecting from within XnViewMP and pasting into Photo? Are you working in Photo, selecting and pasting from images open in Photo, and XnViewMP just happens to be open in the background? So far I've not been able to replicate this.

Welcome to the forums @Bango, Are you able to de-select the Show this Panel on Startup, in the lower-left? If so, can you restart the app and see if that made a difference. You might also try re-setting using the Control run up. Press and hold the Control key while clicking the icon to launch Photo. A dialog window will open, Press Clear, which is in the bottom right.

Welcome to the forums @Bunnycake, If the help tips, located at the bottom left are correct, then it's not working correctly for me. The help tip says Click to Flood Erase, Drag to set tolerance and flood erase. So it should behave like the Flood Select tool when dragging, the tolerance is changing when dragging. Are you just clicking or dragging? If you're dragging, then it's behaving correctly when the tolerance changes.

Welcome to the forums @Santhonus, Have you or are you experiencing similar menu problems with other apps? Trying eliminate a possible issue with your mouse. I've had a small particle partially block the sensor on mine, which would cause similar problems. No, your Nvidia card is not that old, mine is older. Could you try instead of using your mouse once Photo has launched, use the shortcut keys, CTL + N to see if the New Document menu opens? If it does, start a new document, and see if you can select any tools, shapes ect.. Could you attach a screen recording showing the menu selecting issue?
