  1. Sorry, I'm not seeing this behavior. Following @design punch recipe, the document closes as it should, not the Explorer window.
  2. Finally managed to get a dmp file uploaded. Took about an hour. AD_HANG.7z
  3. I'm able to replicate this. It seems like the redraw is getting confused when you show/hide the layer. 2024-04-01 02-37-18.mp4
  4. I realize that, and have been working on that, using the various compression settings in 7zip. I managed to zip one file down to about 316MB. Still going to take a long time to upload. My internet is 10 down and 1 up. Suppose to be 3Mbs, but I've yet to see it. DSL, through about the worse company around. I've tried to get them uploaded, but keep getting an exceptional handle error, the upload fails. It's a Server Error -200.
  5. While trying to replicate another user's brush lag found HERE, I managed to get Designer to hang/Unresponsive. I pulled up Task Manger and noticed the CPU was spiked along with very high power usage. After waiting about 10 min for the app to become responsive I killed it. I restarted Designer, and received the unsaved document notice, choose to open it. All the curve layers were intact. I deleted all of them to start new, and proceeded in an attempt to replicate the hang. Sure enough, after a short time the app hung again. Had to kill it through task manager. I created another dump file before killing it. Wacom Intuos 3. PTZ 431-W Document Size : 5472px X 3648px Using the Fur & Hair vector brush W: 279px, Opacity: 100%, Stabilizer: Rope mode, Size: 23 It took about 120 brush strokes for the app to hang. While I do have 2 Dump files, I don't know how I can upload them. They're 3 GB ea, and my upload speed is considered a dinosaur by today's standards. It would probably take the better part of 3-4 hours to upload just one of them.
  6. I think that's by design. The F1 shortcut seems to be reserved for Designer Help. When you changed it from the default period or decimal point (.), you should have a yellow warning triangle telling you it's for the Help.
  7. Can you elaborate on what broke? We might be able to help you get it running. To download the apps from the Serif store;
  8. While I'll agree with this, I find it hard to accept people don't look, click around in the apps to learn them. For instance, the Studio Menus. They just moved them next door, under the Windows menu. Not finding that on your own, appears to be lacking the desire to learn, and or laziness. Are people afraid they will destroy their computers by clicking around? I once was, (Win 3.0) and learned from a PC tech, not to be. While the OS may crash, the PC is not going to explode. Perhaps Serif needs to include as about the first instruction we see after installing, is Please explore the complete interface. Click on everything you can to see what happens. If it freezes up, don't worry, there's a Reset function for that..... I must be weird, when I forget or don't know, where a specific menu item is, I'll click on a main menu, then read the sub-menu line by line looking. Going through all if need be. Sometimes I'm still blind to it, so will try again.
  9. Welcome to the forums @justwhitee After viewing your video, thanks for providing it, it seems like a video driver issue. What GPU (video card) are you using? When is the last time you updated the drivers? Don't rely on Windows for this. Check and download them from the manufacturer's website. It's also recommended to use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to do a clean install of the updated drivers.
  10. I understand, and wouldn't expect or want someone to constantly change keyboard layouts. I know I wouldn't do it. I use an old pen tablet (Wacom), and it seems easier to control the dragging vs my mouse. Also are you aware that while Holding down the ALT key and then pressing the Left Mouse a second, or third time, cycles through the various properties of the brush? Keyboard Shortcuts-Online Help (Change the drop-down menu to Painting) to see the shortcuts and what they will do.
  11. So you're saying it's difficult to adapt the tutorials from V1 to V2? What tutorials, where are you finding this? Affinity Photo, Official Tutorials-Listed on this Forum Affinity Photo Version 1 Tutorials-Listed on Forum YouTube has a boatload of tutorials for Affinity apps. There's also a lot of 1 vs 2 videos. So I'm not sure why or what specific tutorial would lead you to believe adapting is so difficult.
  12. What Version of AP are you using? In V2, most of the brushes, the hardness can not be altered. One exception are the Basic Brushes. In V1, we can alter the hardness for about all of them. There's no way to disable this that I'm aware of. Use the Square Bracket Keyboard shortcut will help eliminate the accidental hardness changes.
  13. What method do you use to resize your brush? The Square Brackets.. [ ] ? If on Windows, Holding down the CTL + ALT keys while Dragging? If so, You need to make sure you drag Side to Side (Left-Right or vice-versa) for Resizing. Dragging Up-Down changes the Hardness. A lot of the brushes in AP V2, the Hardness adjustment is set in the brushes and can not be changed.
  14. Yep, I can confirm and replicate this.
  15. Welcome to the forums @G Story Sorry to hear you're having this problem. I have numerous Canon CR2 RAW files shot using the EF-S 18-55. I've used it on a couple of Canon's Crop Sensor cameras. I've not seen, and been able to replicate this. There's a few reasons that could cause this. Are you using a Lens Hood on the lens? Is it one that is designed for that lens, and/or focal length? The lens hood can cause what appears to be vignette. You could try a few shots without the lens hood and see if you get the same effect in AP. Are you attempting to use the EF-S lens on a Full Frame camera body? Not recommended for one, as it could damage the camera. The mount is not made for full frame. However I do believe there are some adapters that would allow it. This also could provide a vignette. Could you have accidentally selected the Post Crop Vignette, which is just below the Remove Lens Vignette?
  16. You don't say which OS and what Version of Affinity Photo. The following is assuming you're on a Windows machine, running AP V2.4 Have you customized the Studio? If so you can try Window>Studio>Reset Studio You can also try press the Tab key, if you have accidentally pressed it, which hides the Studios (panels).
  17. Ok, I've never interpreted Drag as meaning Left Mouse. Drag is the movement/motion. So Drag to move handle is Left Mouse to move handle? Drag + Space, is Left Mouse + Space ? IF that's the case, why didn't Serif write Left Mouse instead of Drag? I know it, along with most other, uses the left mouse. But to say that Drag = Left Mouse is not very accurate. Drag English Meaning
  18. Problem with Drag + Rightmouse on Windows, RightMouse click produces a menu, it's an OS thing. I use this a lot. What does work here, is Pressing both, Right Mouse & Left Mouse, holding while dragging. So it would be Drag + RightMouse + LeftMouse.
  19. Welcome to the forums Where is the file located? On a local drive, NAS, USB External Drive, Cloud? Serif has stated it's always better to work off a local drive, then back-up to the others. Do you have Hardware Acceleration enabled or disabled? It's enabled by default. A quick way to disable it: Hold down the Control Key while launching Affinity Photo. The Clear User Data dialog will appear over the splash screen. There are 2 sections, the top section is where the option is located. You can uncheck the top 3, however you need to check the 4th one, Disable Hardware Acceleration Press the Clear button in the bottom right, and Photo should continue to launch with HA disabled. If this doesn't help, please post back..
  20. Using the Compound + Add gives you this Smaller inner larger outer, one on top of the other.
  21. Welcome to the forums @psyycker, What lens was this shot with? Looking on Canon's website for the EOS R100 camera, they do have a lens bundle of the RF-S18-45 f4.5. Is this the lens? However according to LensFun, they only support the RF-S 18-150. Serif uses LensFun for the lens profiles in Affinity Photo. Workaround: In the Develop Persona, under the Lens Tab, just adjust the scaling to remove the corners.
  22. This is interesting. Since reading @Wayne Burrows post, I've been trying figure it out. I typed some artistic text. Selected the Pen tool, and the nodes appeared. They do seem like Curve nodes. Just as the OP stated, you can not manipulate them, they go away once the Node tool is selected. So I then tried several actions on the text. Convert to Curves Merge Curves Separate Curves Those allowed manipulation with the Node Tool. I'm guessing, when we select the Pen tool, with Text, it is showing the Nodes, we just can't do anything with them until the text is converted to curves.
  23. Control Clicking on the Mask does not give you a selection (marching ants) in AP? Works fine for me. It's not double-clicking but it will provide the selection.
  24. If you could provide a link to the Designer Tutorial you're watching, we could see what the tutorial is showing, and thus be more accurate on our help to you. When I do a quick search for Designer tutorials (I'm guessing it's on YouTube), this is what I get... Affinity Designer Video Tutorials In the mean time here's the Online Help for Styles in Designer.. Styles
