  1. I think Serif is going want to know if you used the MSIX or MSI/EXE version of Affinity. How are you loading the NEF files? File>Open File>Place Drag and Drop from a File Explorer window Selecting the NEF files in a File Explorer window and choosing Open With Also where are these files located? On your Local Hard drive (recommended by Serif), an External HDD, Network Drive or Cloud?
  2. When I try to open the file using AP 1.10.6 I get the error about features. However like RichardMH, I can open it in AP V2. The features error is strange, because the only feature I see is the Live Vignette, which is available in both V1 & V2. Further inspection, using the Copy from V2, and pasting into V1 using File>New from Clipboard, the settings in the Live Vignette Filter are maintained. So it's not the Features, but the mere saving it as an APV2 document that provides the error, which is by design.
  3. There's a few things that may cause this. Check and double-check the settings in the Context Toolbar for the Inpainting Brush. Applying to either Current Layer, or Current Layer and Below Opacity Hardness Press the MORE button and check the settings Check to ensure it is the Inpainting Brush, and not one of the other Brushes included in the Flyout menu Is the Text you're attempting to remove, baked into the photo or is it a separate Text Layer How is the image brought into Publisher? Placing the image using an Image Frame? Placing the image without an Image Frame? Placing on a Page, or Master Page? One thing I did notice, which is one of the more common reasons for nothing happening when using the Inpainting Brush, is the Layer selection on the Context Toolbar. I tested this by setting it to Current Layer and Below in Photo Persona of Publisher, then opening AP outside of Publisher and noticed it was the default setting of Current Layer. Check what Brush is being used for the Inpainting Tool. With Affinity apps, these can be shared, so it would be easy to have a brush that may not be suited for this purpose assigned to it. I did run through tests for all the above, using photos I had that had text, watermarks, logos, ect. I could not replicate your issue. I could easily remove what I needed. So could you share/attach your afpub file, or a screen cap video showing the problem you're having?
  4. Hardware Acceleration might be the culprit here. I can not replicate this, and am using Windows 10, Nvidia GTX 645, which does not qualify for HA.
  5. Are you Dragging, left-right when zooming in or out ? There's several ways to zoom. Short Cut key Z to activate the zoom tool Pressing the Spacebar first, then the CTL key. The cursor will change to the Zoom tool, Plus ( + ). However can be very useful, because you just need to release CTL key while keeping the spacebar pressed, and you have the Hand/Pan tool, and move around your document. Using the Mouse Wheel Keyboard shortcuts of CTL + 0, or 1 or 2 or 3 or 4. Using the Zoom tool, then just left mouse clicking to zoom in, ALT + Left mouse click to zoom out. All those work fine for me. I tend to use my mouse wheel the most. There's a setting in Preferences>Tools Use mouse wheel to zoom. Also right below that, is Scrubby Zoom.
  6. Here's an interesting read on the HDMI vs DPI. It's not as simple as it would seem. https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/hdmi-vs-displayport-which-should-i-use-for-my-pc-monitor
  7. Using MSIX to install I have not used any of the apps today (3/23/2023) Launched a few minutes ago and noticed there's an update, so proceeded to update the apps, Publisher-Photo-Designer, in that order Immediately following the update, navigated to the Crash Reports for each. Was curious to see if the updates would delete any. Discovered a Crash Report from Today, for each App. Do the apps log a crash report when the apps are updated?
  8. Is your source selection an Image or Pixel Image? The latter, being Rasterized. Could you post a screenshot that includes the Layer stack, of Both images so we can have a look at why it's not working? Or perhaps attach the afphoto files?
  9. Photo does not have a Depixelate Filter. As Alfred stated you can use blur to soften/smooth. I'm not sure, but I think the various ones I looked at doing a quick online search, did just use some blurring algorithm.
  10. It is possible, and a couple of the formats, jpg, tiff, png will retain the metadata. Others like jxl or webp, will not, especially if you're wanting to export to SVG or EPS. So it depends on how your going to use the file?
  11. @EricGraphix, the process I use is: Crop the image if it needs to. Saves a lot of work if there are objects near edges that need removed from image. Remove blemishes, objects that are distractions, using the Inpainting, Healing, Blemish, Patch tools/brush. I always, like you in your example, create a blank pixel layer to work on. Then remove the objects. Merge Visible, the layer used to remove blemishes, with the background layer. Any tonal adjustments may come now if needed. Now do your Frequency Separation. IF further adjustments are required, I will Merge Visible and continue with that as my new base layer. Non-Destructive work flow. I can always revert back to steps/process that does not leave a lot of redoing to be done.
  12. I think it is. I've tested this, and confirm what Alex reported. I can export either of those two formats, then again attempt to export, same format, and the previous settings in the export dialog are not saved.
  13. Just like Paul stated, you need to use the Place Image Tool select more than 1 image, and it will appear. It's not a Studio that can remain open when empty. Just look at the Window Menu, there's no Place Image Panel/Studio, and the reason is, it's a Dynamic Panel or studio. Open when needed and closed when not/empty.
  14. Apparently you don't. He stated that it wouldn't be in Serif's best interest to mess with metadata added by other software. This is totally different than altering metadata added by their own software. What would your stance be if Serif did alter the metadata put their by Adobe and it causes you problems in Camera Raw or LR? I'd be just a little miffed. I agree withe David, Serif should leave it alone.
  15. Must be a Mac only thing. In Windows 10, after selecting the About, when you try to select anything further, like the check for updates, the About window is dismissed. For the rest, version text spacing, isn't that getting just a little too picky? 🤔
  16. Welcome to the forums, In V1 you can ALT+Click on the Mask icon at the bottom of the Layers panel to create a black mask, that's not possible in V2. Instead they have made both white and black (Mask & Empty Mask) masks part of the menu.
  17. I think @r0b_k is not correct. There's no such file for Windows machines. I've done a complete search of my entire system, and the MRU.dat file does not exist.
  18. Clarity enhances local contrast, resulting in sharpening. Detail Refinement sharpens the edges in images. In AP it is the same as the Unsharp Mask in the Photo Persona>Live Filters https://affinity.help/photo2/en-US.lproj/pages/Filters/filter_clarity.html https://affinity.help/photo2/en-US.lproj/pages/Adjustments/adjustment_detailRefinement.html One way to see the difference is to really exaggerate the settings. You'll see how each affects the images.
