  1. I still get Designer crashing. Discovered that one of the segments must be moved before filling to trigger the crash. If you fill it first, then move, it does not crash. 2023-04-15 16-56-50.mp4 1a2e2d80-9306-409c-9734-dfc5cccd6dac.dmp
  2. @Sean P, It appears to be the same no-fill crash. I tried replicating this earlier, however the vector shapes I used were already filled. Following Blind Pilot's latest recipe, where the vector objects were not filled, Designer crashes.
  3. Welcome to the forums So far I'm not able to replicate this. What OS & Version are you using? Which App & Version? Is the image located on a local, external, network or Cloud? Have you applied any other adjustments, FX to the image? Is this happening to any image or just a specific one? If a specific image, could you attach the afphoto file to your post?
  4. That's nothing new with the EOS R models. My old, Canon 70D has that feature also.
  5. Well the latest beta, we're still not able to dock the Tools Panel to the right. Makes no sense, since we can dock the other panels where we want them.
  6. I added to my prior post. PSP will no longer open UFO files. I did install PI x13, and tested some formats to save the UFO files to. PI will save to PSD and the layers are preserved. AP will open those PSD files with the layers intact. That's about the only option I can see. Maybe Serif will surprise us by tackling the UFO format. IMHO, I doubt it, as there's probably very few that would benefit from it.
  7. Welcome to the forums Unfortunately Corel (and Nova), are the only producers of software that can open UFO files. It's a proprietary working file, just like afphoto, afdesign, and afpub are working file formats for Serif's Affinity products. It's probably not in Serif's sights. FWIW, I have a few Corel products installed, Paintshop Pro, recognizes the old Ulead File Object (UFO) file format. EDITED: I tried opening some UFO files using Paintshop Pro 2023 and Photo Paint. Sadly, they no longer will open the UFO file format. While PSP shows in their format list UFO format, it freezes, and must be forced closed via the task manager. So my advice is if you can still run PhotoImpact, and want to access those UFO files, use it to convert the files to PSD. PI will save the layers/objects, and Affinity Photo will open the PSD files.
  8. I'm going to be surprised if: Designer does not rebuild that folder You don't have some other problems, if Designer does not rebuild that folder. I think what your seeing and calling contour, is just the Snapping Candidates, not a contour. You can disable showing Snapping Candidates by going to the Snap Menu Then uncheck the box beside Show Snapping Candidates
  9. Here's an example of the Warning provided when opening a Retail Legacy Document with a Beta Version. I think it's fairly clear on the choices and what happens. It seems that the advice of ..could add new features that make it unusable... is the key. Most of the time I elect to Make Copy, error on the safe side. So far, I've not experienced where choosing to Continue, has any adverse affect, as adding, without saving the file.
  10. Yes this has been reported, in the BETA FORUM to affect Windows, not Mac. Please be sure to check the Beta Forums for bugs, and post those in those forums.
  11. @hivoltage, welcome to the forums You don't say what OS you're running, or which Affinity app and version. Please try disabling Hardware Acceleration, found in the Preferences>Performance tab.
  12. Here's a few tutorials/courses available Top Affinity Photo Courses-Udemy.com Affinity Revolution-YouTube Artist Wright-YouTube https://duckduckgo.com/?q=affinity+app+tutorials&t=ffab&ia=web
  13. Yes I can. It takes work and getting used to it though. Transitioning from using a mouse to pen/tablet doesn't happen overnight, at least didn't for me.
  14. I'll add my thoughts on tablets.. I use one, a very old one, but a very good one. I've had no issues with it. It's a Wacom Intuos 3 Small, it's wired. The key here is it serves my purpose. I'm not an artist, I'm a photographer. I can do touch-up on images quite well with it. When I first got it, I almost threw it away. Not because the device was bad, but it was a learning curve, a curve for my muscle memory, that was very use to using a mouse. I put it aside for a few months, but came back to it, and stuck with it. Now, I find it hard using a mouse for a lot of my work. So it is important to evaluate how a pen/tablet will be useful to you. If I were an artist, I think I would have me a display model, so I could draw on it, which just seems more natural.
  15. When you bring a image into AP, what does it show at the top-left? By what you post it seems it would be a CMYK profile. They would appear de-saturated, dull compared to a RGB profile. If so, you can go to Document>Convert Profile/ICC Profile and change it to an RGB-8 or RGB-16.
  16. I'm finding the same as @mykee, unless I have Insert inside the selection.
  17. @FerSa, looking at your attached doc, it seems the brush settings were changed to a linear brush. This could be like NathanC states, the specific brush being used, and just selecting another brush will correct it. I've attached a short screen video showing how this linear brush setting can be changed back to a round brush. 2023-04-05 07-48-46.mp4
  18. That does not mean the drivers are up to date. Many times, the manufacturers have updated drivers since the PC was built. It doesn't hurt to go to the manufacturer's website and check.
  19. Windows has Event Viewer. It can tell you everything about your system, IF you know how to decipher it. It's in readable text or XML if you choose to use your browser to read it. However you need to know what and where to look for what may be causing your problems. In the Search found beside the Start icon, just type in Event Viewer, then choose to open it. Event Viewer maintains logs, and there should be a log or two of when your system froze/hung up. It should list it as a Critical Event.
  20. Windows 10, 32GB RAM, no crashing loading all 12 NEF files. Using .1736: RAM usage was 14.1GB, Time to load: 38.5 sec Using 2.0.4: RAM usage was 13.4GB, Time to load: 40.5 sec Note: Before testing I made sure the RAM was basically at idle. It was showing 2GB RAM being used, only system, no other apps. So could we surmise the actual RAM usage to load the files would be 2GB less?
  21. Did you forget to type your post or are you using invisible ink? 😄
  22. I think you may upgrade from Serif's web store, or MAS (apple store). Upgrading is different than Updating. What you're asking to Update from V1 to V2 is not possible, that is an UpGrade. Updates fall within the same main Versioning, ie; Affinity Photo or Designer or Publisher V1.xxx Upgrade is when you purchase the next main version, in this case V2.xxx You must purchase a new Upgrade. The UpDates are provide free.
