Megnusin got a reaction from Krustysimplex in Select nodes with SHIFT while cycling (using [ and ])
I would like to suggest the ability to make a selection of mulitple nodes while cycling through nodes on a curve using the keyboard shortcut (the default keyboard shortcuts are [ and ] keys on a US and UK layout).
I think the ability to select multiple nodes by holding down Shift while cycling would be a useful enhancement.
As an example, I have a leaf graphic that consists of an outer edge, an inner edge, and the inner branchings of the leaf in the middle. I would like to select the inner edge sandwiched between the two other sections, but since the graphic consist of many nodes, it's cumbersome to select them either manually or using the marquee and lasso tools. Selecting successive nodes using the keyboard while holding down Shift would be a fast way to accomplish this.

Megnusin got a reaction from sfriedberg in Line width breaks when line constrained to "max fit" and parent scaled, affecting undo levels
I have a demo file where the line width of a line appears to glitch out when its parent is scaled if the line is constrained to Max Fit. Undoing just the scaling action doesn't fix the line width. To fix it, undoing further appears to be necessary.

Megnusin reacted to feklee in Disable deselect animation in Designer?
When I deselect a curve in Designer, then it turns magenta and fades to its original color. Is it possible to disable this UI effect?

Megnusin reacted to Steaming T in Disappearing Guides
Has anybody here experienced that the guides in Publisher disappears? I have tried everything to make them appear but they only show up in the ruler as blue lines as in the screen shot below. It's quite frustrating, to say the least! I am on a MacBook Pro 15" from mid 2012.

+1000!
If it's a separate curve – and your selection obviously contains 3 curves – then you can select it simply by selecting 1 node, then Select All. It will leave nodes on the other 2 curves unselected, even if the 3 curves are merged into one "Curves" object.

Megnusin reacted to AgentSimon in [AP] Shortcut to show/hide a layer
This works. It is a working solution, but its far from ideal. As others have said, hiding layers this way obscures which layers are visible and not in the Layers panel. I much prefer to show / hide the layers via the built-in show / hide function which updates the dot next to the layer to represent what state each layer is in, and preserves what opacity you have each layer set to.
The devs are so close now. They have a 'Hide layer' shortcut, and separately a 'Show layer' shortcut setting, but why are they not the same shortcut as a toggle? It should be the same shortcut setting - so you press it and it toggles the state between hide and show. That's how it is in PS and its far better that way. Reduces the amount of shortcuts you need to remember, and is easier to toggle quickly.
Please combine 'Hide' and 'Show' into a single toggling 'Hide/Show' layer shortcut. Please.

With the View Tool or Move Tool selected (not a brush tool), you can use the layer opacity shortcut keys to quickly hide/show selected layers.
Press 0 (zero) twice quickly to hide the selected layers (0% opacity)
Press 0 (zero) once to unhide them (100% opacity)

Make a copy of the path. Add it to itself. Do a divide. That resets the box. If you have an open curve, as illustrated, that will close, and need breaking/deleting.

To add to what Murfee said above, my attached image should give you what you need.
Note the change in the “Tab Stop Leader” character outlined in red.

Megnusin reacted to bobdobbs in In Designer how do I copy and paste color values?
I've got two text objects.
I've set the color of one of the objects using the color panel.
Now I want to use the same color for the other object.
I could write down the values on a bit of paper, or try to remember them. But I'd much rather just copy and paste the values.
Is this possible? If so how do I do it?

Megnusin reacted to SimonTheSorcerer in Designer: How to align text by baseline?
Hey Bruce, thanks a lot for the tip and going through the trouble of making a sreen recording.
That's very useful workaround. It has the limtiation of having to adjust each item one-by-one but it should work for a lot of cases!

Hi Alexandre,
Welcome to Affinity Forums
In the Layers panel, click the dropdown on the right of the opacity field on top - it usually says Normal - and select the blend mode you want - in this case Erase (it's on the bottom of the list).

Megnusin reacted to NBG in Designer 2: Warp for images too
The new warping options in AD2 are great but doesn't work with bitmap images (no matter if single images, images in groups or converted images into curves).
Feature request: add image support for warp! 🙂

Megnusin got a reaction from Fizmarble in How to delete slices
So I just realized that the Slice Tool can be used to select slices, after which they can be both moved and deleted using backspace. Having snapping enabled made that a little difficult to discover. It seems very eager to create new slices as opposed to selecting existing ones.
Regarding the Slice Selection Tool, "Slice select not working" clears some of that up, although the ambiguous name is still misleading without that context.
That leaves slices only snapping to the boundaries and half-way points of the canvas and other slices. The workaround is to use the "Create Slice" button in the layers panel.

Megnusin got a reaction from Dodgyb2001 in Photo: passthrough layer group and adjustment layers
I have to agree with the request for more flexibility in grouping. I use groups to tidy up layers and to divide them based on the distinct effects they achieve or the distinct areas they modify. I also use groups as a way to toggle between effect mockups applied to one underlying image, instead of having multiple copies of the same image in multiple AP project files, one for each slightly different effect.
This is also the case for grouping adjustment layers with vector layers used entirely as adjustments, e.g., rectangles with opacity gradients.

Hi Sergio,
Welcome to Affinity Forums.
Check the box Absolute sizes in the context toolbar when you have the Rounded Rectangle Tool selected to define absolute units (px, cm, whatever).

Megnusin reacted to Alfred in How do I cut a shape in two along a line?
If you want to use a closed curve with no thickness, you need to extend its ends outside of the shape that you’re cutting.
The ‘Divide’ command will automatically close any selected curves that are open, by joining the ends with a straight line segment.
To restore the original fill to the cut-off part of the rectangle, copy the filled part and ‘Paste Style’ to the unfilled part.
To finish off, you need to delete the leftover part of the cutting shape. All very tedious!

Megnusin reacted to stwe in some visible hairline that irritate
Long time i thought it would be my own faulty operation or lack of understanding...
Now i see it's a long time bug of the program. One of the most essential functions of a graphics program doesn't work. And even worse the core team knows about it and can't solve what obviously works with competing apps. This is what i call a big fail. Without words...
Time to consider alternatives. I'm really annoyed! 😡
Sorry for the rant...couldn't resist

Megnusin reacted to Dazzler in Distribute objects along path
+1 for this feature to be added. I'm a little bit surprised that you can't already do this, as it's not exactly a new thing, pretty sure you could do this in some vector packages in the 90s?
For some inspiration, take a look at the way the 3d package 'Modo' by The Foundry does it's replicators - they are superb, allowing not only one item to be duplicated, but a group of items can be used and it picks items to duplicate from that group - very nice for more organic ideas. Would love to see this sort of thing in a 2d version.
