This is a Release Candidate build. It is our intention to submit this for review to Apple in the first week of December. Any help you could offer to stabilise and refine the product at this stage will be very gratefully received   :)  We won't be implementing any new features now for this version and we will be focusing on stabilising the product for the immediate future. We will obviously start adding more features again as soon as this update goes live.

    Improvements / Fixes

    - PSD import improvements - Snapping and ruler drawing tweaks - Fix for canvas rotation showing artefacts on non-retina machines and occasional flicker - Panorama improvements, including being able to stitch panoramas from RAW files - Fix for certain Type 1 fonts failing to work if they don’t contain cmap data - Fix for path text crashing when the nodes of a path are deleted - Fix for sharing to Photos/Aperture occasionally producing a low resolution image - Fix or dither command on non-RGB images - Restore with the correct panels visible on application startup - Improved PDF export - particularly with spot colours and gradients - Fix for Monochrome extension freezing when saving your changes - Disable gradient tool options when there is no selection as they don’t achieve anything

    Hello!

We've got a new app coming out - for the latest generation Apple TV (Late 2015)!

It's a learning / teaching tool for users of Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer.

For now, it simply contains all our video tutorial content from the website / Vimeo. We'll of course be adding more focussed, appropriate content over time. We'll also be doing a better job of categorising the content and grouping it together.

If you have an Apple TV (Late 2015) and would like to beta test this new tool - please email tv@seriflabs.com and tell us your email address (the email must be associated with an active Apple ID) - we'll then add you to the TestFlight beta program and you should receive further installation instructions.

    Thanks!

    Andy.

    Features / Improvements / Fixes

    - Pixel selections now honour the current artboard when selecting all / inverting the selection - Deleting the last artboard will not cause you to have a document of zero dimensions - Fix for marching ants disappearing when the canvas is rotated - Fix for text blurring on some buttons in the UI for retina screens - Export persona’s Slice panel now sets the exportable state for all items in the selection, not just the current item - Fix for objects placed on the spread in an artboard document disappearing when moved again - Move Tool’s marquee drag is no longer hidden when the ‘Hide selection while dragging’ option is set - Fix for marquee selection within artboards not working - Artboard documents without transparency should draw empty artboards with an opaque background - Canvas rotation now makes the grid rotate properly - Many PDF export and import improvements - Fix for many crashes seen after loading documents with saved history where an artboard has been used - Fix for document view having visible borders at different zoom levels and pan locations - Fix snapping marker rendering in the Node Tool - The performance cat has lost his ‘Miaow’ in the Preferences dialog (and Matt mourns its loss) - Artboard labels can now be clicked to select the artboard easily. We’ll make this draggable for next time so you can drag the artboard from here too.

Andy Somerfield got a reaction from Amanullah Menjli in Affinity for Linux
    Hi,

Affinity is about, amongst other things, the "experience" of designing things.. 60fps, fluid navigation and editing of documents is at the heart of what we do.

WINE is a wonderful project, but I don't think it would work for Affinity - performance is close to native, but support for things like our use of OpenGL / input interaction would take some work. It also assumes a Windows build to map onto WINE libs - which we don't have. You have more chance of convincing us to make a native Linux version than a WINE one..

I won't rule out making a Linux version of Affinity, but I need someone to show me a combination of distro, desktop topology and deployment (paid) platform where we would recoup our development costs. If someone can show me that, I'll be willing to talk some more about it all..

    Hope this helps,

Nothing will change with the tutorials - they will still go to our website, and Vimeo :)

    Thanks,
