I have split your post off as I do not think this is related to auto-update testing. 
Are you saying that Publisher Preferences dialog looks flatter than Designer Preferences dialog ? If so what OS are you using please? (If not I have given this thread the wrong name, sorry)

by the way, can add sort of Preview Mode from InDesign, so you can hide all guides, grids, baseline, left&right studio at one click and look at your layout?
   

It takes both ctrl+W (or the new View > Preview Mode) and Tab to get everything that Max asked for, I think.

Hi, we have a preview of build 139 (also called 140, see * below) for you. It is on Auto-update which we would like you to test, but it is also available as a manual download.
As this is a beta it is considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity where you may be adversely affected by the application failing, including the total loss of any documents. 
We hope you enjoy the product, and as always, if you've got any problems installing or running up, please don't hesitate to post in this thread.

Can I just add that these are beta only tutorials made by the managing director so that there is something to see rather than nothing. The documentation team will produce replacement official tutorials (with closed captions in all supported languages) in preparation for release and when the features are settled. I am pleased that they are helping some users out, but they are not definitive.

I assume you're referring to our promise that we would release the beta by the end of this month?
If so then yes, we still expect to release the beta by the end of this week.

We're still on track to release the beta of Affinity Publisher for both Windows and Mac by the end of this month.

Well, there's a lot of other things to prepare as well, for example tutorials for some of the not-so-obvious features (the preview video from Affinity live showed a glimpse of Table of Contents and Tables) and also new versions of Designer and Photo to get the file formats up to date and the integration of the three applications ready (also teased at Affinity Live and previously on the forums).
I expect the Beta to be available at the same time as first betas of Designer and Photo 1.7 ... maybe they are simply waiting for the Windows team to finally get their Photo 1.6.5 finished ... *evil grin*

Did they mean August 2018 or 2019? I really do not see what they can possibly do in 2 days that were not able to do in three years.

Update: I think we have answered all the questions we can about Publisher before the beta starts. Hopefully the public beta will answer any remaining questions when it starts at the end of August.
