That is (unfortunately, for your situation) correct behavior, as there is no backward compatibility between V2 and V1. Any native Affinity files saved in V2 are for V2 only. You can perhaps Copy the data using V2, and Paste it into a new document in V1. Or perhaps Copy then use File > New from Clipboard in V1.

Sorry, but I can't help with your other problem.

Hi Walt thanks for your help. That’s a good idea about copying and pasting the work...thanks I’ll try this and see if it works..

  2. Hi there, I recently bought Affinity 2 and am having issues with it already! (the wheel of death while trying to use the blur brush tool - it doesn’t work on either of my computers, my old iMac Intel or my brand new Macbook Air M1). I’m unable to blur parts of the photo with this tool. I’ve tried it in Affinity Designer 2 and Affinity Photo 2 on both macs...

Is anyone else experienceing this? Maybe I’m doing something wrong but can’t fathom it if I’m using a brand new mac.

    Thanks for your help

The solution is the Text Frame panel in the Studio in Publisher, which has controls for the Stroke and Fill of the Text Frame (or, as it turns out, for the text path).

Sorry meant to quote you, just geting used to this system as I don’t use it very often! Incase you missed the last message "I tried it but the text frame was greyed out and wouldn’t let me change anything. I re-drew the circle and text as it was quicker than trying to figure out how to delete the colour in the circle. It would be good to be able to change it for future but still unclear how to do it. Thanks again.”

There is a checkbox somewhere (I think in Stroke-Studio) that you can use - it says ”scale with objects”...

Im away from Mac/Win just now, but you may find it if you seek...

    Hi Errka, Thanks so much.

I googled and found this too. If you select the whole group and click on the group with the pen tool , the stroke palette appears and I could then check the box from there. Thanks for your help and to Rory Townsend who made this helpful video.

    Best wishes

  5. Hi there,

I notice when I shrink a grouped object and there is a shape with a stroke, (with or without dots and dashes) the stroke doesn’t shrink with the rest of the grouped objects so I have to manually adjust the shape independently from the rest of the group. I tried googling for help but and coverted to curves as suggested but still no luck.

I don’t want to have to rasterise the group as I want to keep the potential for all the objects in the group to be editable and keep as Vector. This is also an issue when importing a Vector logo from Affinity Designer into Affinity Photo.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  6. Hi there,

I've just updated my Affinity Apps Designer and Photo in the App Store but I notice I can't update Publisher though App store. It only gives me the option to buy it even though I have already bought it. I am wondering if this is because I bought it just after the beta version and maybe I bought it directly from the Affinity website? I can't remember. Anyway just trying to figure out if there is a way to update all Affinity apps through the app store.

    Thanks

    Hi Jez,

    Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

There's no way to round the corners of an embedded document directly but you can use a rounded rectangle as a mask to achieve the same result.

To do it, draw a rounded rectangle with the Rounded Rectangle Tool with the same size as the embedded document. Then drag it over the thumbnail of embedded document layer in the Layers panel to use it as a mask. You should see a small vertical blue bar appearing on the right of the thumbnail when you do this - release the mouse button at that point. Now that the rounded rectangle is being used as a mask, select it clicking on its thumbnail in the Layers panel, make sure the Rounded Rectangle Tool is selected and adjust its properties on the context toolbar. You can also use the small red point on the top left corner of the rounded rectangle (on canvas) to adjust the corner size.

I've attached a sample file below.

This is so useful. Thank you so much! : ) )

  8. Hi Garry and Pšenda thanks so much for your help.

I got it all working by checking everything but haven’t unchecked anything yet as I have been working on a job and needed to get it finished. Will have a look at unchecking gradually and see how I go. That’s really helpful thank you.

I wasn’t sure where predefined preset was so haven’t tried that option.

    Thanks again
