  1. I'm a 20+ year Photoshop user. I'm trying to work in Affinity Photo and mask out sections of an image, to blend it into the background etc. Normally in Photoshop I would add a mask, then use the gradient tool to draw out smooth fades to remove any elements I didn't want. I would click and drag a radial or linear gradient, let go of the mouse, see what it did, then click and drag again to paint out another area in the mask. In Affinity, I make a mask, apply a gradient, and when I click to make another one, it resets the gradient I already made, and makes a new one. This is highly frustrating! How can I use the gradient tool in a destructive way, rather than non-destructive? Is there another tool I should use? Do I have to hit some key combination to rasterize the gradient between strokes? Please help me. This is a make it or break it for me with Affinity.
  2. I am trying to use the gradient tool on a mask layer to fade either side of a photo I'm compositing. I create a gradient on one side, and switch tools to commit it, then when I make another gradient on the other side, it removes/resets the previous gradient and overwrites it with the new one. Where is the commit gradient button? How to save and get out of the live gradient tool mode? Also for extra credit, how to make radial gradients?
