We are waiting for a standard Windows MSI installer to be provided so that we can easily access the AP2.exe file. Serif's new MSIX installer method, although it has many good points, obfuscates being able to add the AP2.exe to other apps.
Designer and Publisher aren't impacted because these programs are essentially used in isolation to non Serif programs. Photo for Photography, rather than design use, needs to be able to cooperate with other programs and plugins. I think due to Photo (Photography) not being so important these issues must have been lost during testing.
There are workarounds but the best suggestion is to wait for Serif to issue the MSI installer, hopefully won't be too long. This debacle might have a positive outcome by illustrating how important inter operability is in the photo processing software space.

That's the official App Execution Alias which the MSIX installer creates for us - and is the recommended way of launching our apps - if your third-party software supports it. If the third-party software has a bug in it, I provide the aflaunch app to work around that.
Basically, if C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\AffinityPhoto2.exe works, then use it 🙂
It's not clear in your post but you have to actually type this into the apps for it to work. If you browse to the location then you get "cannot open file" error. At least on Win 10.

Even though I have all 3 Affinity V1 programs (and two licences for Affinity Photo!) I see no upgrade path to V2? What happened to brand loyalty or are we all set for a an escalator of V2, V3, V3, V4 when 99% of each program is the same as previous version? I notices SERIF has STOPPED development on the V1 suite many months ago when updates ceased so I was expecting new version but DID EXPECT NO UPGRADE PATH?
I think we should be told.
Is not a series of V1, V2, V3, V4 the same as Adobes continuously licensing but presented in a different manner? You underestimate the intelligence of your customers.
At a cost of £37 for V2, exactly how much cheaper do you want it to be for V1 owners? An extra 10% off to save a whole £3?
I have had several years of use of V1 with constant updates so am more than happy to have to pay around the same for V2 as I paid for V1 years ago. Affinity Photo is an absolute bargain in software terms.
Just for reference Photoshop Elements is on Amazon for £86 for V2023, with no upgrade pricing as usual.
Personally. thank you Serif.

Hi David
How do you get access to the folder to be able to paste the bat file there?
-
This is the best solution. Also you have the option to create a desk shortcut when right-clicking on it. I'm using Elgato Stream Desk to open Affinity Photo, I did copy the file location from task Manager and it did the job.
Many thanks jp.rioux
I had been replacing app with AffinityPhotov2.exe

f 'Open file location' is greyed out you could try clicking on properties and that will also give you the location which you can copy.
I can create a shortcut as you indicate but the shortcut is not a .exe which programs like DXO are looking for as is hardware like the Stream Deck.
If I navigate in DXO to the .exe access is denied to the .exe.
Frustrating.

Here's how I did it:
Open Affinity Photo 2
Open Task Manager and expand the Affinity Photo 2 entry
Right-click on Affinity Photo
Select 'Open file location'
On my PC this gives the location as C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\SerifEuropeLtd.AffinityPhoto2_2.0.0.1640_x64__3cqzy0nppv2rt\App\Photo.exe
Option is greyed out on my Win 10 Pro 21H1. What version of Windows are you using Scruff?

What version of Windows are you on Saikat?

Our developers have been investigating this, and have confirmed the following:
Certain applications do not like using the generic %LocalAppData% path, instead please try the following:
-
Affinity Photo V2:
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\AffinityPhoto2.exe
-
Affinity Designer V2:
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\AffinityDesigner2.exe
-
Affinity Publisher V2:
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\AffinityPublisher2.exe
They have also confirmed that these are 'execution alias' .exe files, and some third party applications don't yet appear to be compatible with these - unfortunately it is down to each third party app to support execution alias .exe files when launching external applications.
I hope this clears things up!
Win 10 Pro 21H1
These paths you give simply are not present on the system. Can you go back to your developers and maybe check on a "normal" users system?
It has been suggested elsewhere that you need to take full control over certain folders which I would guess seriously impairs security for "normal" users.

Same problem here. Many programs only let you select a .exe file. DXO Photolab for example as well as hardware like the Stream Deck.
A rapid response to this issue would be much appreciated. At the least it will prompt refund requests and delay users upgrading as it totally breaks peoples workflow.

Affinity is still unusable using GPU. Previous version could be used a few minutes, new one only a few seconds. There are some graphics glitches:
- using NVidia RTX 2080. some "squares" are not updates. See Screenshot (blur to hide the person but not the issue).
- using integrated Intel UHD: Sometimes displayed got frozen and then Affinity crahes.
Everything (Affinity, drivers, Windows..) are up-to-date.
Sarcasmus: Hat anyone in your office a Windows system with GPU ?? 😜
Are you using the latest Studio Drivers for the 1080Ti?

Use of Plugins is one of the most common operations with a pixel editor. Historically the plugin menu has been buried under several subfolders within "Filters". As most of the AP UI is very "Modern" in its approach why not improve the UI by surfacing plugins within the UI? Come on Serif, lead the way :)-

When Affinity ON iMac Reads a File Produced be Topaz Denoise AI 2 Saved as DNG.Photos are Tinted This Does not happen in Photo Shop Camera RAW.
Files Open in Affinity Photo After DenoiseAI Saves as DNG are Tinted as Magenta.
Interestingly your dng crashed Faststone and was not read in DXO - Photolab 3. Obviously opens in CS6 but could you use Tif? The dng is not a raw file.

I don't know if I am quite understanding what you are saying but if you change your display profile from say Blade to sRGB then this will change the appearance of the image. That is what is supposed to happen.
You posted two different photos but it is difficult to understand what you are showing. It is a photo with text on it. What is it supposed to show?
Is your screen a wide gamut aRGB or sRGB?

Just to confirm this isseu with Topaz Studio v1.18. Transparency locked. As all Topaz plugins are transferring to Studio this is a serious issue. They still run in PS.

StreamDeck is the way to go. You label the keys with text or icon and when the program focus changes ie you switch application the keys change to whatever you have assigned to that program.
