By the way, I got 5 or 6 years of free updates in the V1.0 versions, I do not mind if I have to pay full price again. I like the Affinity suit so much and I am relying on it. For me it is far more important that Affinity's future is secured.

I guess that is the strength of outfits like Adobe or Phase One. That is not to decry AP, it is great software. What is strange though is that ON1 2021 recognises the lens and does an auto adjust and I thought they used Lensfun.

    Hi Colin,
The Mac App Store is managed by Apple themselves - we have no control over the apps sold there. Their apps also don't require serial numbers (the app is associated with customer's Apple ID). The only thing i can suggest is to contact Apple support directly, request a refund explaining the reason why you aren't happy with the purchase and buy it again through our website.

Jumping on this thread. Same here, Affinity Photo is basically unusable on my late 2017 iMac, especially so in the raw editor. Dragging out gradients takes an age - it is laggy and not nice to use whilst changes with the sliders is blocky and jerky. Sorry but altogether an awful experience. PS on the other hand flies. Is there something I am missing?

    Thanks :-)

I am sure that Serif staff on behalf of the company have said no to Linux, it is not just  "us". The reaction here I think is born of the frustration that this matter has not been allowed to rest there. If I were a mod on this Forum I would have killed this thread long ago; it adds nothing to what is a user forum.

Serif's employees are identified as such - the answer to "Or are they?" is a simple no.  The reason people seem to be siding with them is that their position makes sense!  Whether or not something can be run under Linux, whether or not an application can be developed at some arbitrarily determined cost, and whether or not there's some sort of market for it doesn't matter - the people whose job it is to gather the data have gathered it, the people whose job it is to analyse the data have analysed it, and the people whose job it is to make business decisions have made them.

Let me paraphrase that - "If it was commercially advantageous for Serif they'd make the conversion".
    1/  Serif know this
2/ They're not making the conversion
    What does that tell you?
As an aside, some might question the wisdom of being so dependent on a single customer.

You have elected to use a system that does not support the software you wish to run. That is your choice and it is therefore your problem. If you need the software that much move to Windows or Mac. I played with Linux for years, ran it for a while as my main desktop and finally ditched it because it could not run the software I needed.

Why is it not fair? Affinity is not developed for Linux, never has been and apparently never will be. You chose Linux of your own free will and the consequence is you cannot run Affinity. You cannot run Phptoshop, Lightroom, CaptureOne and many other pieces of software either - is that unfair?

Exactly, if one is locked in to LR then by default you are also locked in to PS...

I really do like the affinity products, but for photographers they are incomplete without a DAM.

I am going to have to re-up my CC Photography subscription and therefore over the next year or so will add many thousands of photos to LR.  At some point switching becomes impossible

Unless of course the DAM will import LR edits
