ok, you have to pull on the tool. That isn't what I want at all, it just put one image in - as big as I pulled. It didn't flood the area with it repeating.

ok, I saved out the tile as a PNG. then took my original that was still open in Designer and did an edit in Photo. Got the BMP to work BUT the PNG was light yellow on a transparent background and when it flood filled the layer, it is solid yellow. We can't use a tile with transparency? that would be a pain because then I would have to go back and select all the color I didn't want and delete it. Which never seems to turn out as well (at least in other programs I've used) Sig

"type" is grayed out for me. Is this because my pattern is a vector? I wanted to do this in Designer, but there doesn't seem to be a flood fill with pattern in Designer. Since I can't seem to find a way to copy a layer or group and then paste as new image in designer either, I opened both the image I wanted to fill and the image with the design (both vectors) and then did a file/edit in photo. but still can't seem to fill an area with a seamless tile. Sig

I'm glad I'm not the only one having an issue with this. And I agree, it should be an easy fix for the developer. I'll try the shutting down from the menu and see if that helps until they address this issue. Thanks Sig

Once again I have closed out the wrong image in AD!!!! I do this WAY too often as there simply isn't enough contrast between the active and the inactive image. Either a different color or a bit more contrast - PLEASE.

I downloaded the new update to the program and after an hour the file finally opened. It took another hour to save it as a jpg. I was unable to edit the file in any way. Just seems so odd that I didn't have any trouble making the file or saving it to begin with. Oh well, I am done with it now and don't plan to open it again . Sig

I had to do a reinstall of windows and so don't have my fonts actually installed. Not sure I want to since I have so many. I have had programs in the past where I could just double click on a font name and have that MS viewer pop up and then go back into my program (without restarting the program) and the font would be in the list. I'm not seeing that with designer. Can it do that? Do I need to make it refresh the fonts? How? Sig

I gave up and reinstalled windows so starting over with everything. I'll see if that fixes the problems after I get Affinity and all the extras reinstalled. thanks Sig (it never did finish uploading)

I did try to open this one in Photo and it did the same thing. 45 minutes later it still said loading 1 document and I had to use task manager to stop the program. I had no problems with these files as I was making them or saving them. it is 240MB and seems to be too large. I'll stick it on DropBox and send you a link thanks Sig

I am done editing the two files I need for a project. These have been saved as afdesign files. Now I need to reopen them so they can be saved back out as jpgs but they wouldn't open. I had to use task manager to stop the program and then I did a repair. Rebooted and it opened the one file fine. It did put up a box saying that I no longer had the font installed. I didn't think that should be a big issue since it is showing me the finished file correctly and I do not need to do further editing. But it refuses to open the second file. It says loading 1 document but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I can't use the program as it seems locked up. I can't shut down the program - it ignores me. The only way out is task manager and end task. Today I again ran repair, but it has not made any difference. Why won't it open its own that were created and saved by it? I'm debating opening the files - or trying to, in Photo since everything I need to do now can be done in that program. Ideas? Suggestions? Is it because of a missing font? Surely it can just do a substitution and continue on? And as far as I can tell, there is no actual font in the second file. I need the font warped and so used Illustrator and then saved the warped text back out as an eps. Opened that into Designer and pasted it into my design where I needed it. Sig

sounds like control c control v is the best option. That I can do left handed and so don't have to take my hand off the mouse or pen. thanks Sig

Toltec, I might give that a try. I usually don't use the keyboard shortcuts since my hand it on the mouse or pen and I have to put that down to use the keyboard. - thanks Alfred, maybe. I do know that it does that auto move thing, but since I don't always see it going where ever it goes to, I hadn't thought about that. Is there a key I can press before duplicating that stops that one copy from doing that? It is handy many times but not for what I usually do. Sig

I have both Designer and Photo and there seems to be quite a difference in the title bar for the open images. In Photo, they behave like expected - they stop short of the docked tools so I can always get to the X to close them out. But in designer, the X goes UNDER my tools and I always have to move them to close out that last image. This is such a pain, that I usually shorten my tools enough to keep them under the title bar. Do I not have them docked right? These pics are the difference between Designer and Photo Sig

I do a lot of seamless tiles and recently saw a tutorial on using Designer to make them that was so much easier than in the programs I had been using that I switched. The method works in Photo too so I have also done a few in that program but prefer Designer. However, it often takes me two or three tries to duplicate the layer so that I can use the transform to move it to make the design "wrap" around. I hit duplicate (right click on layer and duplicate) and the copy doesn't always stay right on top. Instead, the copy is WAY off of the document. Sometimes it is so far off, I can't even find it! I have to delete and try again. Usually the second try will get it to stay where it belongs - directly on top of the original - but lately, I have had to delete and retry 2 or even 3 times before the duplicate stays put. What is different? Is this a bug? This problem of not staying in alignment seems to show up after I have made several duplicates of various items in the same document. Sig

I know in the past that windows could do all sorts of odd things when it had too many fonts. I got a bit carried away I guess since so many of my newer fonts come as duos or stacking or with swashes. AD is barely running and I'm wondering if I've bumped the limit on the fonts and that's what is doing it. I've been trying to delete, but windows is throwing a fit and taking forever to delete even one at a time. I've reduced it from 1500 to 1100. AD crashed badly recently and I was asked to send in a report which I did. So that is why I am uncertain if this is still fall out from that crash or if it is a font issue but it took me three hours last night to move 3 items in an 8x8 inch 300 dpi graphic. That is not useable. I don't want to uninstall if I don't have to since then I would have to find and reinstall all my brushes and assets again too. Thanks Sig

Thanks. I have used PSP since back when JASC owned them. I quit at version 11 because I didn't like the direction Corel was taking with the program. It seemed more geared to photography than general graphics. But I did recently buy PSP 2018 when I couldn't get Affinity to do what I needed. That's not to say it won't or can't but I couldn't figure it out and so went with what I am more familiar with. I'd say 90% of what is on my computer is graphics or graphic programs and it is pretty normal for me to use 3 or 4 programs on one design. (I have 4 external drives and just maxed out another - sigh) I just bought another program because the filter I used a LOT is no longer available and even running PSP in 32-bit mode, only a couple of my hundreds of filters work. This filter is built into this program and it wasn't a bad price to pay for a filter and I got the whole program. It is, unfortunately, another that Corel bought out and is no longer going to support or develop so hopefully Microsoft won't upgrade windows again to the point it won't run. I give the script a play with later today.

ok, I didn't realize that I put it on the top. It wasn't turned on originally - at least that I remember and I use that all the time. Ok, I'll move it up to the top in pixel mode. I seem to have two different panels. They aren't attached to each other. I thought at one time they were, but they sure aren't now. I just stacked them on top of each other. For awhile they covered up the X to close out the image and that was annoying. But I managed to resize them a bit and pull them down below the bar with the name of the image. Thanks Sig

Is there a way to put the text on a curve on the inside of the arc? I made a circle then converted to curves, then broke apart at both sides. I now have two arcs one on top and one on the bottom. I want the text to be on top of the top arc which is how it does it and all is fine. But on the bottom I want the text to be on the inside of the line. I can't seem to find a way to do that. I tried playing with the start triangle but ended up with the text backwards. Can someone explain how to do this please? Thanks Sig

I know this is pretty minor but a bit irritating. The navigator is at the top on the side over the layer/effects/styles panel. But when I switch to pixel mode, the navigator is suddenly at the bottom of the screen under the layers. I don't know why it moves but it is annoying to have it suddenly moved on me. Sig

Ok, I watched a bunch of videos and then messed with the assets and artboards for a while. But I have restarted the program twice since then and now I have the most irritating problem yet! What is making these purple outlines on everything? They are not selected, I did not use that color. It is very hard for me to see what my design really looks like. And why is it suddenly defaulting to this font? It never used to. I must have changed something somewhere but I can't figure out what I did. this is a new design. It did it on the last one I made this morning too. It would even put the purple outline around just parts (curves) in the design and around all the text. it is driving me nuts.
