  1. Affinity on the iPad is a fantastic experience. It's not an immediate process but after decades of desktop applications I think it's hard to adapt to a different system. Aaron's notes are interesting because file management, saving changes is not clear. I use FileBrowserGO to connect with computers on the office network and all in all it works ... managing changes, saving on the server without anxiety would help me better. I am aware that iOS must grow in this sector and probably Affinity must follow some rather complex rules. If you can improve it would be a big news. Fabio
  2. Whether it's a tablet, a Cintiq or an iPad, you often expect a better result than what you actually get with a real marker, brush or pencil. If you get used to making sketches on A5 or A4 sheet, an iPad Pro may be enough, if instead of using the wrist movements you're used to using your whole arm you need a larger surface. Obviously if you are a digital native accustomed to working at 200/300% your features will seem more inaccurate than those you get with a pencil on the sheet. I use an old Cintiq 20 "and an iPad Pro ... the improvements are there and on the iPad I can keep the pencil also far from the tip getting a "almost" natural trait. A digital native, however, often thinks that a brush can be like a pencil ... in reality it is not like that. If you make a sketch on paper and then pass it on to the scanner you will realize that it will be much more inaccurate than what you perceive on paper. It takes exercise and knowledge of natural media to better control digital ones. How to try to use a pencil kept very far from the tip to not cover the drawing, or very close by helping with a finger that rests on the paper to make very precise strokes. The iPad is much more natural than the Cintiq in many ways ... keeping the pen away from the tip is more natural than the Cintiq. Even simulating a brush is more natural, but it remains a brush and you can not use it like a pencil.
  3. Surely you're doing a great job!!! Fabio
  4. They are in the same situation, the value for money remains affordable, it would be a bad luck to arrive only a few days later However, I bought a nice collection of brushes that I already tried in the desktop versions! Ciao Fabii
  5. OK, I tried, the problem is again related to the hardware acceleration of Metal. If the disable works perfectly as in the official version of AP. It's another thing to put in order for Metal acceleration on this iMac model !!!
  6. I downloaded the DAUB Watercolors & Washes by Paolo Limoncelli today and following the tutorial https://affinityspotlight.com/article/watercolours-and-washes-raster-brushes-by-daub/ I realized that it does not wrap the textures like instead it regularly runs with the official version of AP. I use an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4096 MB, I do not know if it's a problem like the previous one of CMYK
  7. I tried with the current version of AP and it works with images in png format. So I would say it's a bug.
  8. I downloaded DAUB Watercolors & Washes by Paolo Limoncelli. Great product, trying it with the beta version of Affinity Photo I realized that if I do the filling with a texture does not repeat it. Good day Fabio
  9. Hi Chris With version 1.7.0.101 everything has been solved without problems, now we can see well also in the CMYK version Thank you
  10. Now I'm out of the office, as soon as I'm back I can try to send you the file. Actually the problem occurs on all the files, even in the latest beta version. With RGB everything works, as soon as I go to CMYK I see everything black. Also by creating a new file and using only the brushes, I see them in black and white. Ciao Fabio
  11. iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4096 MB As with the previous version, in RGB enabling hardware acceleration everything works fine. Working in CMYK (four-color process) you can see the whole black screen or the black and white drawings. Ciao Fabio
  12. Congratulations, a modern design with a classic look.
  13. The latest version of AP with Metal acceleration on iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4096 MB works in RGB but presents visualization problems with CMYK. Ciao F.
  14. Dear Matt, your suggestion has solved the problem. I wonder if disable Metal changes anything in performance and especially in the use of brushes. F.
  15. I installed without problems but it is unusable because it is impossible to see on the subject of images and brushes as you can see from attachments. I have not altered my preferences. I'm using iMac 5k late 2015 ... do you have any suggestions? Ciao Fabio
  16. I understand ... certainly having the opportunity to choose is the easiest way! I do not know if it is from the point of view of programming. F.
  17. Honestly, I hope not. I was used to illustrating objects directly for many decades. Immediately with AD I was wrong but later I realized that it is more functional as it is today where I select what I want without interfering with the rest. Obviously this is only my experience.
  18. @Ben Honestly I had not noticed because having AD I looked at other things !!! It's very interesting and I have to experiment with it to understand. I have the distinct feeling that you are doing a great job.
  19. I have not yet got to test it, but this menu inspires me a lot ... I think it has a lot of potential and control over all those fonts that are not really congenial to a good layout and justification.
  20. I have not yet been able to understand how external punctuation is achieved in a justified text. Today, by opening a PDF of InDesign with AD, I noticed that it has kept this feature even on editable texts. Is it possible to do this or is it because it gets text with external formatting?
  21. I find that using the same file format you have significant advantages. I give an example that for me is fundamental. If developing a desktop layout with AD where to better manage images use AP exploits the two applications to the utmost. When I am with the customer, with the iPad PRO, and he asks me to replace a model(girl) in the layout, I can take from the archive already treated images and make a precise outline on AD and replace it by being able to create the print file. Tomorrow this possibility will also be extended to APub and the trusted AD on iPad will allow me to make changes from the client. Obviously if I use a notebook as a main machine and I pore it behind all this would not be an advantage but ... with the Affinity suite that unlike Adobe I can open the same file with different software, I consider it a huge professional advantage. I am increasingly convinced that the fundamentals of the Affinity project are very powerful.
  22. KipV, there are two things that you do not consider, the first is that it is not important how many times you update a program but the quality of the new features offered. The second is that even just looking at AD you realize that in addition to the things you can not do yet there are many that Illustrator can not do even today after thirty-one years !!! So I could expect that APub will do things that XPress does not do in spite of being thirty one years old
  23. The solution that I proposed to you is valid within AD. Often in the use of levels the results you get are valid for executive printing while in the export to other vector applications you will get rasterized elements. What you ask is still useful and interesting.
