Simon, do you have a similar to AD, course on Apub as well? I'm crossing my fingers. Thank you for all you taught me, first AP and then AD. Also looking out for more advanced courses in AD, as youv'e done in AP

As far as I am aware On1 RAW cannot be used as a plugin in Affinity Photo, the plugins On1 produce don't locate in the plugin folder for Adobe Photoshop CC they sit under File > Automate, so, Affinity Photo will not know how to handle that.
There is an option in On1 RAW to send to an application for further editing this can be accessed from the File menu to "Send to another application..."
I use ON1 like above to AP. In A Photo I've set the "Enable Save over imported psd files" under Preferences>General. When I save (ctrl+S) an image in A Photo it sends it back to ON1

Thanks a lot Walt. It was the Paint Brush tool, but "Protect Alpha" was ticked. I unpicked it and the brush is working fine. Quite honestly don't know what protect alpha does.
Thanks again

In Windows 10. When sharpen with High pass filter under New Live Filter layer>sharpen>High pass Filter, paint brush tool does not paint in black or white or any other color on mask. I can invert mask
Works fine in version 1.7.0.481

Have a similar problem with my PC when I use my Wacom Intuos tablet. When I try to resize the Brush with Stylus/Pen, the program feeze. Only with the APh Customer Beta. Have a problem in version 1.6.135 with tablet, but does not Freeze like the Beta. I run Win 10 and 16Gig Ram

Simon, thanks a lot for the wonderful Christmas present

I do follow him and learn a lot from his Tuts

Had a similar problem and was solved: Look under Edit>Preferences>Performance And set the "RAM Usage Limit" To a higher value. It seems this may limit the RAM usage even if your PC has 16Meg like mine. Hope this help

Thank you so much, will try this out.

My pleasure. In case you haven't found them, there's another set of macros that are meant to be used on Adjustment and Filter layers. Here's a link:
Please forgive me if I'm at the wrong place, but my question is close to what you are discussing here. In Photoshop, I can copy an image or just a channel, say the Red channel in RGB by Ctrl+A and then Ctrl+C or create a luminosity mask by copying the L-channel in Lab. I then can open a mask by Alt+click on the mask and paste the copied image into the mask by Crtl+V The image will now appear in the mask and I can use levels or curve adjustments on the mask. In Affinity Photo, I'm not able to do that, a new pixel layer appears on top and I cannot get this into a mask. Is there a special way to do it? I'm sure one must be able to create such a mask. Thank you

LenC, there is a Photoshop plugin based on Dan Margulis' work called Curve Meister (http://curvemeister.com)
It is an amazing program and I really hope it will soon be available for Affinity as well. I can't do without it in terms of esp colour correction, mask creation and in general really curves on steroids. You may enjoy looking at it.

I compared the Beta with AP1.6.4.104 and it loads much faster. approximately 30% faster

I"m sure this not really what you want, but I use ON1 as I used to do with Lightroom and Photoshop. It is possible to use the "Save over psd files"( In AP Preferences>General, mark) to go from ON1 Photo Raw 2018 to Affinity and when you Save in Affinity (ctrl+S on my pc) image goes back to ON1, again as a psd file. You can put your effects on and back to AP again. Condition is you have to export as a psd file from ON1 This may be sort of a detour for the time being. My wish is that Serif would expand the psd function to others like jpeg, dng etc.

It is possible to use the above "Save over PSD files" To go fron ON1 PhohotoRaw 2018 to Affinity and when you Save in Affinity image goes back to ON1. Is it possible for Affinity to expand this feature to other formats like DNG and JPEG in future. It would then be the same as from Lightroom to Photoshop and back. This only works for PSD files

I've unpublished my Affinity Photo courses on Udemy...
