    Hi Patrick,
I am on IPad OS 13, everything’s so far really smooth(beta and stable), just that I can’t import Assets, Brushes or Macros. I guess it’s an problem, apple has to fix, since so much changed in filehandling and sharesheet.

    Cheers,
    lutz

Some flash drives work some don’t that need a high current supply. Works great with an external verbatim media share device, created folders and copied files, photo and movie file direct over lightening to USB adapter. Also tried same on iphone 6 and iphone 7 worked perfectly. AP and AD seem to work fine, although have seen a few funnies in email and a few apps like the TSB banking app don’t work.

    Hi,

Lets say I have an object with a brush applied to it.  I come back to work on the same image a few days later.  How do I find out which brush I used?  When I select the object you would expect the corresponding brush to become selected in the brushes panel but it does not.   The tooltip in the brushes panel gives you the name of the brush, but no where can i find the name of the brush applied to the object....

Do you see my predicament here?  I downloaded a lot of brushes and I usually change the stroke size of an object after applying the brush, I really need to be able to find the same brush within the many brushes on my computer!

+1 for this suggestion. We can, of course, use 'Edit > Copy' (Cmd/Ctrl+C) on an old line and then 'Edit > Paste Style' (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+V) to apply the same brush to a new one*, but it would be nice to be able to identify the brush via the Brushes panel.

*You can also click on the 'Synchronize defaults from selection' icon on the toolbar.

This might be a silly question, but is there a way to find out which brush was used for a particular line? Just selecting the curve's layer doesn't seem to cause the brush that was used to be automatically selected in the brush panel and with both "the box set" and "Daub Essentials" I've already got quite a few brushes and it's hard to remember which was used where.

    Hi b_mer,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
As far as i know, no, there's no way to know which brush was used.
I'm moving this thread to the Feature Requests section.

Does the Files app recognize it as an Affinity Photo Document? Tap-and-hold on the filename and then choose Info from the popup menu. Does it show it like this, with a thumbnail and correct file type?

I also feel the color picker is activated too fast. At times while drawing quickly the color picker seemed to activate before I could actually draw on the screen. Maybe a slider in the general setting so users can customize how fast they want the color picker to activate? I also feel, as a general criticism, that the activation of a line when drawing seems more sluggish compared to other sketching programs like Procreate, Clip Studio Paint (iPad Pro) and others. Even with simple brushes there’s more brush lag compared to the competition.

The beta is progressing nicely otherwise. Can’t wait to import and export color palettes.

I feel the timing of this feature needs revisiting. It's too fast. It's incredibly frustrating when you don't understand what it's doing, and a minefield when you do.
I was doing some edits last night and wanted to throw my iPad Pro across the room. I came back to the thread and reread the feature list. Back to my file, filled with knowledge, it was still incredibly hard to finish putting a Mario moustache and hat on a shark (I am trying to do the lord's work here).

Anyway, yeah, a timing tweak would be great.

    Hi Puca,

great idea. So I simply saved an .aphoto directly from my Affinity Photo app (iPad) to the dedicated folder of Photo on the iPad. Then I had a look at the file info, as you suggested. And it just says “Document,” not “Affinity Photo Document” as in your screen shot. I would say, the system doesn’t recognize this as a valid Affinity Photo file. Strange.

    Thank you,
    Alex

    Puca,

Ref the Help and Locked description.

I state "Locking is useful when you need to prevent a layer from being moved or transformed unintentionally."
I' m Ok with that, but i'll update it to read...

"Locking is useful when you need to prevent a layer from being moved or transformed unintentionally. Editing of layer content is still possible."

    Also..

Select Lock again to allow the layer content to be edited again.
    to
Select Lock again to allow the layer content to be transformed again.

Btw, the solo functionality is added to help ready for the next beta. Docs see the features at the same time as the beta testers so there is an 'undocumented" period.

The Solo Button does exactly what you describe, when you for example do composing you can temporally turn off all other distracting layers.
I think its more useful for Affinity Designer, but its a nice to have.
The Lock Button or do you mean Alpha Lock? The lock button is 'Lock Selection' to avoid you accidentally selecting it whilst editing on the document. You can still edit the Layer like you said.

    Oh, I see, Marco. Thanks.

So I tried drag-&-drop, editing it, Save, then Close. It doesn’t update the thumbnail in the Files app, and if I just tap on it in the Files app, I get an error message when Photo tries to copy/open it.

If I then drag-&-drop it again, my edits are there and it opens fine.

I’m glad this is being worked on, but yes it’s not quite there yet.

Seamless integration with the Files app is my #1 feature request for any Affinity app on iOS.

If open Affinity then you drag from file it will pen that file and not a copy. You can notice as you will see appear 2 new option. Close and save. If work on your file then go back to start and click on the 3lines menu of the photo you can notice you can save then close the image. In that case you did work on the same file. But is not obvious yet. What we need to have just an option from files.app to open in an the rest with the new save and close option in affinity are good to go.
This in my opinion is increasing a lot the workflow. Well done. We just need a little bit more for this option to be perfect but is already a good good start.
