  1. If the elements are being rasterised you need to see why and work around that. If you can share the file I'd be happy to take a look for you.
  2. Serif (Europe) Ltd profit after taxation: 2018: £6,202,298 2019: £9,750,692 These are public records, they are not short of money. Maybe some of these major features are being planned for the v2, after all they are a business and profit is the end goal so getting people to upgrade has to be on their minds. I prefer things that way to ongoing subscriptions.
  3. There are things that will cause the vectors to be rasterised on output such as: Layer effects Blend modes Certain transparency setting Export to pdf defaults to honour spot colours, but if things are being rasterised they will be lost.
  4. The plot thickens... If it helps narrow things down here's my exact settings Windows 10 Designer v1.8.3.641 Opening the file "as is" gives me the colour space: RGB/8 sRGB IEC61966-2.1 Export to png works no matter what I change the colour space/bit depth to or whether the profile is embedded in the png or not.
  5. I think it's a Designer issue, just limited to MacOS. I think it's something to do with the blend modes on the ellipse layers - if I change those to "screen" it looks pretty close to your exported png:
  6. @loukash I think you have it the wrong way around - if you look at the file you've labeled as "intended output" it has "wrong result" in the file name The designer file on my system displays exactly as it outputs to the png, both match the image under " THIS IS CORRECT AND I SEE THIS RESULT ONLY IN DESIGNER " in the OPs original post. What idea is it that you have? Given that I can export it I'm assuming that the OP is on MacOS and there's some bug on there with this.
  7. The name of the "Pixel" persona threw me I guess. Does it not make sense that a marquee selection in a Pixel workspace would select the pixels?? Maybe it's just me 🤷‍♂️
  8. No doubt a good solution, however I am too tight to buy both programs Thankfully what I needed was smaller than the screen, so I went ghetto on it with print screen and paste new - got my pixels from there
  9. Thanks for the info, shame it doesn't work how I imagined it would!
  10. Which OS are you using? I've exported that to a png and it's come out fine (I just don't have one of the fonts) The file structure is quite complex, with the images and the recolour adjustments. Something must be throwing it off, but I cannot reproduce the problem here. If I output to a low-bit-depth png I get a fair bit of postersation but nothing like the bloom you are getting.
  11. I need to grab a "slice" out of a Designer document - various shapes, gradients lines etc. I thought I could just switch to the pixel persona, create a marquee selection and "copy the pixels" as it were. However the copy command doesn't work (and is disabled in the menu). Is there any way to do this? I'm sure I'm missing something simple.
  12. If it's the same in png and tiff then it's got to be Designer doing something wrong in the export. It's hard to see without the source, but what effects do you have on the ellipse objects pointed out here: It looks like they are the main parts that are going wrong. If you can share the source docment that would help.
  13. @GT70 Ah that's a shame, sorry it didn't help. If you go view > view mode > pixels, does the representation in Designer change to match the png output? It's either down to the general rasterisation (which the view mode should show the same results) or the specific representation in the file format - maybe try export to a TIFF and see if that looks correct.
  14. From a technical standpoint, it can't happen. JPEG files cannot have any optional content like comments or layers. You must both be looking at different files, maybe you attached the wrong version when you sent it?
  15. Hi @GT70, that's some really nice work. I think the output issue might be down to the bit depth of the png. If you take a copy of the original .afdesign file, then go file > document setup > colour, set the colour format to RGB/32 (HDR) - the option should be set to 'convert'. Then on export for png, click 'more' and make sure that 'pixel format' is set to 'use document format'. That will get you a png with a greater bit depth than the one posted here, which hopefully will help. I cant guarantee it will solve the issue, but thought it might be worth a try.
  16. It does seem a bit like that, I recently discovered the joy that is the "toggle button" to view the noise slider. Then you have things like the change to the alignment panel to force you to choose an alignment before selecting what to align to. Oh and the "it's not quite modal but acts like it is" panel that these controls are in. Still, it's better than gimp/InkScape, those are still way ahead in lack of usability
  17. @GarryP you've confused alignment with distribute Manually spacing elements using snapping is a pain when it should be possible to get the first and last in place and have the distribute do the work.
  18. There's a huge list of features that people would like included that aren't yet available, it's just a case of not having the available development time. It does depend on the font style, I find it works for a lot of them. It's far from an ideal approach. The other thing is to use a grid, but that's a bit slow and cumbersome.
  19. Annoyingly the distribute is limited to space between bounding boxes. For text, depending on the font, you might be able to set it to all capitals first, distribute it and then set it back to "none" (which despite the name preserves any capitals which were there).
  20. All printers have a degree of bounce, especially in duplex. Check your driver, there might be an adjustment for side two positioning. If not you might have better results printing one side at a time, so the paper isn't going through the duplexer. Last resort would be to adjust the position on your document to account for the bounce.
  21. I'm a bit out of date then, I did have a quick look online but couldn't find anything recent and specific. In general though for web use it's still going to be best with sRGB. Lots of old devices out there, and ones which struggle to even get to the sRGB gamut.
  22. Not sure on what will happen, I imagine it won't be any time soon. As a Windows store customer, I'd rather go the other way and buy direct from Serif - if one of those automatic updates causes a show stopping bug you have no route to roll back. I know this from bitter experience.
  23. From what I understand of iOS, there is no colour management so it's essentially limited to sRGB. If you view a wide gamut (e.g. Adobe RGB) image you'll get muted colours compared to the true representation. An sRGB image should display correctly.
