Thanks for replying so swiftly...and yes I am using Windows so that is quite disappointing that 

feature is wrongly shown in help as it would be very useful.

Does that means the 'place image' is the only way to add images?

I apologise if I have written this in the wrong place - I must have missed some information somewhere on how to use this site.

Could you please tell me where the Media Browser is in Affinity Designer? I have looked in the help and it says in 'View' but I cannot see it.

I did try to look here on forum as best as I could but could not find answer

Also - Is there a separate section for questions about AD I can use if any further questions please?
