Like many on this forum, on upgrading to v1.9, I initially had a number of issues. These included various tools giving odd results and incomplete screen updates with blocks missing or strange colours within photos. I then updated my Windows 10 with recent update KB4598299 (Cumulative Update Preview for .NET) and update KB4598291 (OS Builds 19041.789 and 19042.789). The problems with Affinity Photo disappeared immediately. I cannot see anything in these updates specifically to do with GPU/graphics, so it could just be co-incidence. For me, Affinity Photo is running quicker than I’ve ever seen and the GPU can be seen to run up to about 10% in task manager. BTW, I have a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card, Driver version 456.71.

Sorry, hope these attachments are what you need. For some reason, the screenshot does not show the position of the cursor/paintbrush outline. The attached photo does, but is not that good.

Carl, yes i'm aware the Colour Replacement Tool was selected. This was to demonstrate the issues listed in my post above. I cannot paint onto the separate Mask Layer or the built-in mask of the HSL Adjustment Layer using the Paint brush Tool. With the Colour Replacement Brush Tool selected, I can paint onto the separate Mask Layer, but only in white.

Here it is. With the Mask Layer selected.and using the Paint Brush Tool, I cannot paint on the mask layer in black or in white. With thee Colour Replacement Brush Tool selected, I can paint onto the Mask Layer, but only in white and it does not make a difference if white or black is selceted, it still paints in white.

Hi, I have the same issue. However, if I choose the Colour Replacement Brush Tool to paint onto a Mask Layer all works OK. With the Paint Brush Tool selected, I cannot paint onto a Mask Layer.
