Burny reacted to Bri-Toon in Stroke Questions
It sounds like there has been some confusion here. A curve is just a path, so each stroke that is drawn is already a curve. The phrase "Convert to Curves" refers to converting from smart shapes, text, and any other elements which are not curves from start. With something like smart shapes, you have additional control on changing the form before making it an editable object like any other curve. So a curve is just a path that can be edited with the Node Tool.

Expanding strokes on the other hand is the same as converting strokes to fills.

    Status: Customer Beta
    Purpose: Stability
Requirements: A valid product key, issued when Affinity Photo was purchased.

As this is a beta it is considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity that you may be adversely affected by the application failing, including the total loss of any documents.

We hope you enjoy the latest build, and as always, if you've got any problems, please don't hesitate to post here and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. Thanks once again for your continued feedback.

    Fixes
[Partial] Fixed failure to close down due to incremented load count from (failed) abandoned documents (still needs 1 further fix for corrupt abandoned files) Improved Clarity algorithm Improved Shadows & Highlights algorithm Fixed Text Styles panel to show the document defaults when no text is selected  Changed Layers panel to add more distinction between clipped and nested layers  Fixed document DPI showing a decimal place in some situations Fixed reset of user workspace when new panels have been added Fixed newly created Text Styles being applied twice to a text frame on creation Fixed vector export (including PDF) taking a long time due to large clip areas Fixed Fit/Shrink to printable does not fit to printer margins  Fixed 2nd Print has a zero size document in printer dialog  Fixed being unable to move the Greyness node in Layer Effects > Colour Overlay Fixed colour node appearing on the Colour panel  Fixed Spacebar not changing cursor to hand when in Develop Fixed hit testing on floating window edges to make it easier to resize windows Fixed closing a floating window through the taskbar closing the application (a side-effect of this change is that Alt+F4 on a floating window will now just close that window, not the app)

    Still no bleed?

There seems to be a lot of time spent making cosmetic changes to this program. But the one simple little feature that makes the difference between being able to use Designer for print (Visual Bleed) seems to keep getting overlooked.

We love this program and have owned it in our studio on Macs and PCs for 2 years. But we have never been able to use it for any jobs.
We still have to use InDesign and Page Plus.

Every program in the world that supports CMYK output has bleed because you cannot work without it.

Please consider adding this feature. It has been in your road map forever.

Requirements: A valid product key, issued when Windows Affinity Designer version 1.5 was purchased.

This is a beta of a substantial change to our codebase and as much as we have tried to ensure the quality of the code, it is considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity that you may be adversely affected by the application failing. In addition it is definitely worth noting that files created in Affinity 1.6 may not open in 1.5 so always make a copy of your important documents before opening them in 1.6 to ensure you do not accidentally overwrite them and are unable to open them in your 1.5 version.

We hope you enjoy the latest build, and as always, if you've got any problems, please don't hesitate to post here and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. Thanks once again for your continued feedback.

Thanks for the file. I've had a look at the main bulk of memory is being taken up by loading the history that has been saved to the document. I resaved the file as a new file without the history which not only dramatically reduced the file size, but also took the memory usage down to about 1.4GB. If you want to retain the history you could save a second file without history, to reduce the filesize, and then re-enable save with history and continue to work on that new file. This allows you to reduce memory usage, but also retain the previous history (albeit in a separate file).

I also noticed that you have a lot of pixels layers that are between 800-2200dpi! It would probably help exporting these as 300dpi PNGs and placing them (like you did with the background), as it would need to store so much pixel data in memory then. Lastly you could also reduce your background to about half the size as well and that will also help!

“This is my Eiffel Tower. This is my Rachmaninoff's Third. My Pietà. It's completely elegant, it's bafflingly beautiful…” I think the last one I’ll do and post but it’s a goodie (well the subject is).

The Ferrari Dino Berlinetta Speciale prototype was unveiled at the Paris motor show in 1965.  In my opinion the side view is its best angle, I can’t say that I think the front is particularly pretty. It recently sold for a ridiculous amount of money, over £3.2m/$4m.

As I wanted it to be photorealistic what looks like a fairly simple drawing was plenty of work. There’s a lot of fine detail, like the vector textures I made up for the tyres and wheels, that isn’t necessarily obvious, especially at this reduced size, but if it wasn’t there then it loses some of its realism.  I'll probably go back to it in a week or two and see what bits I don't like.

    It’s also quite a large drawing, the full size output’s 88.5MP (11520x7680).
