Burny reacted to Wosven in Gradient: Sub-swatches document's palette unsynchronized with main palette
Hi,
You can create a document's palette and global swatches, but when using thoses on gradients, they are only synchronized if using the swatches from the Swatch panel.
> Bug to notice: when first selecting/clicking a Pantone swatch, this one is automatically added to a new "Document" palette. Even when we first create a new document palette for this document. If there's already a document's palette, the apps shouldn't create a second one, but add swatches to the existing one.
1. Adding global colours in a document's palette, and applying them to rectangles:
2. Creating a gradient using them, selecting colours from the main Swatch panel:
3. Creating a second gradient, but this time selecting the swatches from Gradient panel > Selecting node > Modifying colour > Sub-swatch panel > Swatch
4. Modifying the swatches in the Swatch panel: only the colours in the rectangles and the first gradient are modified accordingly
5. Creating a new gradient using the same swatch as background for a text frame, using the sub-swatch panel from the Text zone panel:
6. Again, modifying the swatches:
Notice again that the sub-panel swatches aren't synchronized with the main palette

Hi,
We are pleased to announce that Affinity Publisher Customer Beta 1.8.4.651 is now available as a download from the link above.
If this is your first time using a customer beta of an Affinity app, it’s worth noting that the beta will install as a separate app - alongside your store version. They will not interfere with each other at all and you can continue to use the store version for critical work without worry.
This beta is an incremental update to the 1.8.3 version recently released to all customers (though it installs parallel to the release). We recommend that you use this beta in preference to the store version if you are affected by any of the issues listed below.

Burny reacted to PepGold in IDML export
So true. I would be nice to be able to fully commit to Affinity.
-
Burny reacted to PaoloT in IDML export
Hi,
I think this has not been asked as of yet (at least, I can't find it when searching). Probably, most of us are interested in IDML import, since the most urgent thing is transitioning from ID to APublisher.
However, I think that the ability of exporting IDML is still very important in a professional context.
1) Most of the professional publishing sector will be based on ID for years, and being able to transfer our files to a larger workgroup is very important to have our work accepted.
2) Computer aided translation tools are usually compatible with IDML files (and I can confirm they can be perfectly compatibile with ID). Translating our work will probably mean that the translators will ask us an IDML file.
So, I hope to see this implemented in a near future version.

Burny reacted to MmmMaarten in Automatic Page numbering doesn't work anymore [1.8.3]
My main concern with this is that a lot of people don't know about these regions even being there or that they are added by ''Add pages from file'. I never knew about these regions until now, well I heard about it once, but never used it. But it did mess up the page numbering.
That's why IMHO when adding pages from another file Affinity should:
- Ask the user to import the section or add the pages to an existing section
- Never import sections and add it to the current section (if possible)
Also, as written above, I removed the pages that were added with 'Add pages from file', so I don't see the logic in keeping sections after deleting the pages inside that section.
Thanks for the hint. I didn't know about that 'Highlight Fields' menu. That's helpful to some point, but still; how do you know what these two 2's stand for?
IMHO this should display something like:
page. #PAGNUM# / #PAGCOUNT#
to be informative. These 2's don't tell me nothing about what fields are used here. Or am I missing something?
-
Burny reacted to Joachim_L in Automatic Page numbering doesn't work anymore [1.8.3]
When you create a document you get automatically a section, by adding pages from a different file you get another section from this file. So in the end you have two sections already. Hard to guess for Serif if you want to keep the sections from other documents or not.
The placeholders are not (soooo) unclear. You can make them visible with Menu Text -> Highlight Fields
