You said you switched off the external monitors, try disconnecting and restart the laptop and the programs.
Make sure the scaling settings are the default for windows.
Try to reset the affinities(each) = (Holding) ctrl+ click the exe or shortcut and wait for the new popup which may be hidden on the taskbar and press the clear button.
note this may also delete any personal items like presets and the like.

Thanks! Disconnecting the displays and restarting Windows worked! It now also even works with the external displays reconnected, even after another reboot. I don't think I did a reboot after updating to v2.2 - perhaps that's what it needed and has nothing to do with the displays?

What Application are you using? [Designer/Photo/Publisher]

Same issue appears on all of them

Are you using the latest release version?
    (here's how to check)

Yes, only occured after updating to V2.2

    Can you reproduce it?
(if you cannot then we may struggle to also, making it even harder to fix)

Yes, everytime this is the case everytime you use the eyedropper

Does it happen for a new document? If not can you upload a document that shows the problem

Happens on all new and existing documents.

    1. If you cannot provide a sample document then please give an accurate description of the problem for example it should include most of the following:
    •    What is your operating system and version (Windows 11, OSX Ventura, iOS 16 etc)?

    Windows 11
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz   2.59 GHz
    32GB RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX1650

Is hardware acceleration (in Preferences > Performance) ON or OFF ? (and have you tried the other setting?)

Yes, but I also tried it with it switched off and the issue is the same.

What happened for you (and what you expected to happen)

Provide a recipe for creating the problem (step-by-step what you did).

Drag the eyedropper from any colour panel over the document. I expect to see the magnified view of the pixels underneath the cursor - instead this stays black.

Screenshots (very handy) or a screen capture/video.

Any unusual hardware (like tablets or external monitors or drives that may affect things) or relevant other applications like font managers or display managers.

I have a 3 monitor setup, with one laptop display, one external display and one pen display. I tried switching all external monitors off and just use the laptop display and the issue is still the same, so obviously not related to that.

Did this same thing used to work and if so have you changed anything recently? (software or hardware)

Yes this worked in v2.1 but stopped working since updating.

  3. Since updating to v2.2.0 on Windows 11 the eyedropper preview/magnifier is black all the time. The RGB value underneath shows the correct colour and the colour picker still works, but it's really difficult to pick accurately as you can't see the area you want to pick from (see screenshot). This is the same in Designer, Photo and Publisher.
