1.7.0.5 update install query
Paul Mudditt replied to DM1's topic in [ARCHIVE] Designer beta on iPad threads
Too late said zebedee. (Showing my age here ! ) -
I do hope the RC for V1.7 Designer follows the lead that Photo has in getting rid of these unlabelled icons, they are so small it’s hard to differentiate them. I do like how photo beta now labels them.

RC1 beta Share Import not working
Paul Mudditt replied to DM1's topic in [ARCHIVE] Photo beta on iPad threads
Strangely enough share to V1.7 beta works ok on IOS 12.4 beta but occasionally fails on V1.6 is my experience, I’m convinced its a timing issue when loading the file. -
1.7.0.4 beta Power Duplicate functionality

Of course it’s cmd+j, force of habit from PC days. -
1.7.0.4 beta Power Duplicate functionality

And it has been in Photo RC1 along with several others, marked up below. Cmd+J as it is iPad not windows of course. Just need this implemented in Designer beta now. -
Vector Layer
Paul Mudditt replied to Engine44's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
Ok, better description perhaps is scalable raster image which retains it’s original imported resolution until you do a destructive edit or rasterise it to the underlying document resolution. Hope this has helped not created more confusion. Best thing is to experiment with it your self to understand how it works unless a Serif team member wants to step in and elaborate further.. -
Vector Layer

Perhaps the term vector layer is totally wrong, scalable layer maybe a better description. -

Vector Layer
Paul Mudditt replied to Engine44's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
In this example I have placed a high resolution jpeg onto a small 4”x5” document. As I zoom in you can see the pixelation as it is mapped onto the underlying document pixel dimensions. Watch as I enlarge way past the size of the document and where the photo was pixelated previously the image is again now clear. This shows that the embedded image is a vector layer scalable onto underlying document pixel dimensions whilst adjustments are made. As you stated, only on a destructive edit takes place do you lose that underlying high resolution photo. 2C46EC8C-78D2-4959-B031-5D09F48544D4.MP4 -
Vector Layer

You can apply adjustments to an image layer and adjust its dimensions without losing its original resolution, only when you make destructive edits will it be rasterised to a pixel layer. Notice how the embedded photo remains a full resolution a image layer for adjustments but is automatically converted to a pixel layer when an operation requires it. 65B5ADFB-6A09-45DF-8580-FDDF3CC8E875.MP4 -
Vector Layer
Paul Mudditt replied to Engine44's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
Unlike other older software packages which rasterise immediately, images are kept at full resolution no matter how small or large you scale them until you perform an operation that requires them to be rasterised to underlying pixel resolution. So until you do that, you image is effectively scalable like a vector layer.. -
Align different objects nodes
Paul Mudditt replied to Rodi01's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
No but if you add a horizontal guide line and have snap to guide enabled you can drag each node to snap to the guide. 37AF262A-8FCB-4EB4-BF1C-AFAA06BA56F5.MP4 -

1.7.0.4 beta Power Duplicate functionality

Because I have a Smart Keyboard, control-j or cmd-j would seem to be an easy option to add as well. -

Changes to applying live filters.
Paul Mudditt replied to heyitsdiggy's topic in [ARCHIVE] Photo beta on iPad threads
Hi Dave, it looks like they are direct replacement for the live filter macros. In fact if you load the live filter macros in they appear to work exactly the same. To revert to a non-live filter, select the filter layer and select merge down which reverts to a normal destructive filter as usual. So workflow is reversed, always use live and then remove when done for me. -
Layers disappear in exported eps file.
Paul Mudditt replied to akasso's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
Sorry can’t understand your export settings screenshot but check this setting, it could be your layers are being rasterised because they contain some features that an EPS file cannot support. -
Access to Control Centre restricted
Paul Mudditt replied to Paul Mudditt's topic in [ARCHIVE] Photo beta on iPad threads
Agreed Alfred, I can do it but need 2 swipes. Absolute pain. Totally none standard for IOS behaviour. -
Unfortunately the stroke studio is not available in Photo on iPad, the only work arounds are to also buy Designer (it’s cheap) and do that part of the edit in Designer since the afdesign and afphoto files can be opened in either app. Alternatively you can make a square brush which you can change the spacing to rudimentary draw text, apologies from my poor effort on the V1.7 beta.

[1.7.0.127] A few bugs by DM1
Paul Mudditt replied to DM1's topic in [ARCHIVE] Photo beta on iPad threads
I have always had that behaviour on V1.6 as well. The only work around is to use save copy option, close it down on home screen then reopen from saveas location to get the new filename to stick. -

Hi Dave your flow is set to 56%, if you set to 100% it removes the overhead line in one go. I also see the weird pull back of the red trace. 8FD60318-49FD-43D7-88CB-271AEA93B4B8.MP4
