  1. I’d suggest loading a couple of your raw files here for moderators to test. I use Canon CR2 without problem.
  2. The RAW data, is just that, data, its not really a photo yet as its hasn’t been developed. Once developed you can manipulate it as a photo. Each RAW file is in a proprietary format that programs can read the data from but generally only the OEM can create the original file. Hence more RAW file formats in the world than the “standard” photo formats like JPG,TIFF etc. Writing and much more importantly, testing complex photo manipulation software like AP, PS etc tends to stick to an output format in one of the few standardised file formats otherwise the effort involved in testing would be restrictive.
  3. Only the RAW file holds all of the RAW data, once you have developed (some people say cooked) the photo is no longer RAW. Develop is like cooking a steak, you can’t reverse it to get back to the raw steak.
  4. As Dave states above you can drag many photos into Affinity but please don’t try to use AP as if it was Lightroom, it is similar to Photoshop so really designed for one photo at a time editing. One second warning is the drag and drop method pulling multiple photos will not import the RAW files but a JPG version of each file. Only using your first method can you import a RAW file, you can tell because a RAW file will open in Develop Persona, if the file opens in Photo Persona it isn’t the RAW file. And to re-iterate Dave’s warning, you can only close and delete one file at a time from the Affinity Sandbox so not a good strategy to pull many photos in at once.
  5. All files shown within Affinity Designer are inside the Affinity Designer sandbox, stored on your iPad. You need to save each document separately by pressing the 3 bar hamburger icon and choosing save. This will save to the Affinity Photo folder in iCloud Files with your current settings. To free the space up in the sandbox you must press close on the hamburger icon after you have saved each file. You should also be aware, the sandbox is only a convenient location while you are working as this is where designer auto saves your work. But, if you ever had to delete the app and re-install you would lose everything in the sandbox so do not leave completed work on the home screen, save it to a cloud service or in the On my iPad folder.
  6. It’s way too buggy, wait until another couple of releases of iPadOS13 and Affinity have been released.
  7. Yes file format is compatible across all platforms and packages so long as they are on similar version numbers e.g. 1.7x
  8. Thanks Walt, I had a fair idea it would likely work because of the common core engine, it also offers a method to enhance all three packages with macro actions too.
  9. On one of the Facebook groups, David Williams set me an accidental challenge by mentioning Expand Stroke was a function only available in Affinity Designer.Well now you can use Expand Stroke in Affinity Photo on all platforms by importing my Mud’s Macros library. To create this I needed to record a macro, which is only available in AP. The command I needed was in AD so how to get it?I started in Affinity Publisher on desktop with a blank document, changed to AP persona and started record, then changed to AD persona and performed Expand Stroke from the menu, then switched back to Photo persona and ended the recording. Simples, eventually ! Mud’s Macros V3 SelectionFromLayer - convert a layer into a pixel selection SelectAllLayers - select all layers quickly DeSelectAllLayers - de select all layers quickly PencilPortrait - Convert Photo to pencil sketch (Credit: Alpha Sierra, YouTube) InpaintCrop2 - fix edges after a straighten crop (Credit: Jim Welsh) Inpaint - the inpaint option from the desktop. ExpandStroke - Expand Stroke from Designer TextOnCurve - Text on a curve path from Designer And here it is in action on iPad, but the macro also works on desktop versions of Photo as well. 10. Alternatively just select Unclip Canvas after moving into position. IMG_2784.MP4
  11. Your layers panel says image, it needs to be a pixel layer by rasterising your image to pixels. Two methods available :-
  12. Switch to Photo Persona after making your selection using the tools in Selection Persona.
  13. Hi Dave, the issue is that although the files app in iPadOS13 can see and access external drives, when you use AP or AD that external drive isn’t visible in the Files browser built in to Affinity. I get that on IOS12 you can see some external drives and sure you will see them on 13, but looks like AP and AD needs a recompile with the latest operating system 13 libraries or whatever they call them now before these new writable external drive are visible.
  14. If you can move your file into Dropbox, they will open from there. Very strange, for years iCloud was the only reliable source and Dropbox was terrible, now it’s the other way round. I wonder if the mods that were applied to make Dropbox work, now need to be applied for iCloud.
  15. Try attaching your file again, the link goes nowhere. Unless of course it’s a zero byte file? Locate in files app press and hold check info to see file size.
  16. Split screen Files app is cool, allows drag and drop between locations including external drives (when it works, buggy in current iPadOS13 beta)
  17. Meant to mention that, best thing I ever asked them to do, implement the desktop shortcuts. I have a belkin Smart Keyboard, ^J is duplicate and comes into its own with power duplicate.
  18. No problem, I‘d assumed you were using symbols already to manipulate the petals. Symbols are very cool.
  19. Ah ok. Have you tried using symbols, a different symbol for each set of petals. Then you can adjust and move them in and out to retain symmetry. FullSizeRender.mov
  20. Also macros won’t load either, it does seem that AP & AD don’t recognise the ICloud files. However I can import from iCloud my designs and photos ok on iPadOS13 customer beta 2.
  21. @craiigman if you’re anything like me I tend to fiddle with every single setting to try and work out what it does then forget to put it back the way it was. I found this by fiddling, never used that setting before myself.
  22. @craiigmanSelect the group, grab the corner to adjust the size, place two other fingers as modifiers then drag the corner again. IMG_2754.MP4
  23. Reduce your Mitre Limit to zero in the advanced part of the stroke studio.. FullSizeRender.mov
  24. I know my mudditt’s Macros pushed this shortcut workaround of photos share sheet not giving Affinity Photo as an option, but i’ve come to realise that there really isn’t much Serif can do to make this work really well. The photos share sheet does not share the original photo, it shares a reduced resolution jpg version. You can test this using any raw files in photos app, when you use the workaround the photo does not open in develop persona. Sorry to say in iPadOS the situation is no better.
  25. Check this setting on Affinity Photo on your iPad, I guess you have it set to “iCloud Drive” on Designer and “On my iPad” in Photo
