I am getting big squares of blank pixels appearing all over any image I open in Affinity Photo on my ipad now.  The squares have no pixels in them and move around randomly through any file/image I open. Especially when I move the image, change the view or try to use any tool; so basically if I try to do anything.  I’m not sure what to do or who one speaks to?

I can’t do any editing/work at all in affinity now.

Close all apps down then perform a forced restart, press volume up then volume down in quick succession then press and hold the power button until you see the apple logo.

Thank you Master PD - silly me add to cloud using laptop and down load in iPad land.

Out of curiosity Paul, is there away around this for IOS only users do you know ?

thank you for taking the time to make the video, soon as I saw cloud it rained upon me and understood your a star.

    Regards Rob

Hi Rob, I have PC and MAC and do use iCloud on them too but everything I do on iPad, “I do on iPad”, including download of all internet files like these macros. I choose always to store everything in iCloud so that I can pick things up on any machine I want to use. If I retired my PC and MAC I would still be using iCloud as its a lot cheaper than paying for a larger memory iPad. I still do just fine with a 128GB iPad with my 2TB iCloud storage for photos and video.

    Hi all,

is there a way to completely turn off any snapping in photo on the iPad.

every time I use the pen tool is snaps, I go down to the pen menu and there I can turn off Geometry And Construction snapping.

but the next time it is turned on again.

Is there a way to permanently turn off all these snapping, tried everything allready.

This is not really a bug. Round corners need to be "baked" if you want to scale them. We've already log an improvement to add a "scale with object" option for corners.

Agreed not a bug but why use two different terms for the same action,

bake corners = convert to curves

unless I’ve missed something, why confuse users with two terms, legacy issues?

Got it.  This is a bug that seriously reduces the usefulness of the corner tool, but this explains why the problem goes away when you export to SVG and re-open it.  Exporting to SVG will convert everything to curves, and when you open the file, the problem goes away.

Any chance a developer is reading this so they can fix the bug?

    Ivan

@Callum will likely pick it up when he returns to work Monday.

The work around is to use the rectangle tool and use that to add corners or to simply select the layer(s) you suspect behaving wrong and select convert to curves.

  6. @Ivan Krsul. @Callum  @Alfred @ProDesigner

I converted the iPhone rounded rectangles to curves, yes It said they were already curves but there not. The phone on the right has been fixed and the fixed layers renamed as fix.

What I found is if you use the corner tool to add corners to a rectangle, the layer name changes to curve but for some reason it isn’t a curve. If you rescale it the corners don’t scale until you convert shape to curves first.

If you use the rectangle tool context toolbar option to change to rounded rectangle then the problem does  not happen.

Typo alert! The ‘Trapazoid Presets’ sub-category should be named ‘Trapezoid Presets’ and ‘Cresent Assets’ should be named ‘Crescent Assets’ (or, for consistency, ‘Crescent Presets’).

Especially for you Alfred, you spotted my deliberate mistakes I'd left in so that if anyone else claimed to have done it I could prove it was mine ...... only kidding 😁thanks, fixed now in original post !

Within the desktop version of Designer, there is a  Preset Manger Option for Shapes. Where is this option within the iPad Version?

Fear not, from an idea suggested by Isabel (Aracama) Illustration https://youtu.be/C2iLfqdzUro here is the asset pack I created to replace the missing Shape Presets on the iPad versions.

1 st image: Normal screen opening the picture when the "View Tool" is selected by default

2 nd image: As soon as the Brush Tool is selected the bottom of the screen display the menu from "Apple Notes". The brush cannot be changed using the pencil. Selecting with the finger still works. Only happens if Scribble is enabled.

It works normally if Scribble is off. But let's not forget iOS 14 is in beta as is Photo version .186.

    What is this setting for?
Preferences > general > retina rendering only

Good question, it used to say cache display or similar previously, never knew what that meant in terms of performance, think they’ve changed its name but still not explained anywhere. Doesn’t seem to do much so perhaps only if you have problems try flicking it the other way.

Trying to figure out this, but it doesn’t work as I intend it to do. I’m trying to select the black lines from a colour drawing and I think I got it selected, but when I copy and paste it, it still pasted the entire drawing, so somehow the entire drawing is selected, although it doesn’t look like it to me, but I might be wrong.
Perhaps this is better done in Designer? I also tried to separate the colours in CMYK, but that didn’t work, of course, since the black is a part of the other three colours as well.
I was just hoping I could extract the lineart because I flattened the artwork unintentionally and would need one layer with the lineart only, but I don’t know if there’s a way to do that. Selecting them hasn’t worked so far at least. And now I can’t deselect either, because when I go back to the selection it’s still there no matter how much I deselect it. I’m afraid that this part isn’t very intuitive, like the rest is. But if you have any idea as to how I can achieve what I want, I’m grateful.

Show us what your layer stack looks like, does it say pixel?, if your layer you are copying from says ‘image’ then you must rasterise it first.

  12. @sourbeerfan That is odd behaviour.

Whenever you get odd behaviour with an iPad, one of the first things to try is firstly close all apps, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up app switcher and swipe up each app to close it. Then perform a forced restart. On your iPad version press volume up then volume down in quick succession then press and hold the power button continuously until you see the Apple logo.

Let us know if that fixes it.

I am unable to import/open Fujifilm XT4 RAW files. I have downloaded Lightroom and used it on a trial period. Lr opens the RAW files and from there Affinity

Photo will open the files. The native files displays the message in the attachment. I have completely migrated to iPad Pro but the RAW files is a problem.299508039_PNGimage.thumb.png.2dc59f2d88d5eec4e061ee24f4897c75.png

Adobe use their own built in driver, Serif use Apple RAW driver. XT4 is not on the supported list yet, possibly in a future release of iPadOS 14.

Fuji do offer a convertor to other formats until Apple update their support.

Hey everyone reporting issue here.  What is the extension of the LUT file you are importing?  If it's .cube, try renaming the extension to .cub and it should then import.

@DM1 If you files are .cube, could you post one?  Just on my iPad, i don't really have any other apps that could get in the way of this, but i'm happy to restore it and only have Affinity loaded to see what happens.  I have also raised this with QA, as we have had a few reports on email about this.

@stokerg I have no problems loading .cube files but eradicated Adobe from my iPad a long time ago.

So with the new update, 1.8.4 Designer Bleed & Margins not working with Artboards. Or, not working properly. On my iPad.

    Here’s what I’ve tried.

    1. Open a new blank document for Print mode, A4

    2. Add an artboard, add a vector layer to it.

    3. Show Bleed and add bleeds at 3mm.

    4. Add margins.
Both options work fine, showing both Bleed and margin guides.

    NEXT

    1. Open a New Document, Print, A4, with Artboard checked as well.
    2. select artboard, add a vector layer

    3. Show Bleed and margins and try and set them... nothing. No result.

    just doesn’t work.

Si I’m wondering if maybe there is an option I’m not aware of.

    Robert

Agree it’s not working, also margin guides don’t work either so likely related.

A workaround appears to be to add the art board after you open the document, bleed and margins appear to work again then.
