The essential Undo/Redo and help icons are spread further apart than the rest of the icons, just looks a bit messy. (Also Designer has same issue) Personal wish: Can we have the snap magnet buttons etc on left hand side same as designer. Can’t see any reason why we shouldn’t have them. I am constantly turning snapping on and off in my work.

@HarryMcGovern Hmm, maybe it never went away properly. The image in question has EXIF orientation set to 0 so I guess that is a problem, my other test cases all have the EXIF Orientation set to 6 yet two place incorrectly and one places correctly. So don’t think that field is being used. The frustration is if the image ALWAYS on IMPORT from photos is correct orientation, then why can’t PLACE from photos use the same software calls to the photo library?. At the end of the day it isn’t a huge problem to rotate correctly just very weird that the same software can have 2 different import results. I guess I have answered my own question, Import = 1 import function and place = a different import function, why I have no idea. PS Exact same issue in Designer on iPad also.

HDR Merge crash V1.9.0.199
Paul Mudditt replied to Paul Mudditt's topic in [ARCHIVE] Photo beta on iPad threads
Tone map still crashes my iPad Pro 9.7” on latest beta. -
Just to add, it looks like HEVC video capture is not supported by Apple on certain older devices including my 9.7* iPad Pro. But HEVC is offered as the default so I would suggest the HEVC option is not offered as an option on those devices that cannot write to HEVC video. Note1: I can read HEVC video recorded on my Mac mini M1 ok. Note 2: Behaviour is same on Designer for iPad, HEVC results in zero byte files.

Info Panel in Affinity Photo iPad
Paul Mudditt replied to exploremoar's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on iPad
+1 Especially when I can see some of the info panel functionality hidden away in the underlying software engine in this image, created on desktop then loaded into iPad. The info panel that had been used two colour pickers are still visible. Skin Correction 1.afphoto -
If each microbe is a shape, using a bitmap would likely give the best result. There are multiple ways of adding a bitmap to a shape from simple clipping where you place an image on top of the shape on the screen and in the layers panel drag the bitmap onto the shape after suitable scale and rotation etc which will clip the bitmap to the shape. Alternatively you can apply a bitmap fill using the gradient tool, look to the context bar options. Finally you could probably use the effects studio to add an inner glow to each microbe.

@Paul BuckinghamI am primarily an iPad user for AP so thought I would do some tests on the image you uploaded to the Serif forums after your question in my Affinity Photo Facebook group today. Firstly on the iPad the only way to load in a RAW image is by using open from cloud or open from photos. Here I opened from my photos album and successfully opened your image and correctly the develop persona is open ready for the develop stage. On my mac I tried to do the same thing on V1.8 and V1.9 beta and tried to use open from media option. What I found is I could not to find your image until I edited in Apple photos which creates a JPG version which then appears in the photo album. However naturally when opened it did not go to develop mode. Now on to your issue, when you use edit in AP it looks like it is trying to use a JPG version of an image (not just yours but my raw files too) rather than the RAW. So for RAW processing ‘Edit In’ appears to be useless as MACOS is NOT supplying the raw image to the application(any application?). It looks like you always need to export your unmodified originals to a folder to make the RAW image accessible to Affinity. In this respect, it looks like iPadOS is ahead of MACOS since as I described at the beginning the iPad was able to open the RAW image correctly directly. Sorry this is a bit long winded, and doesn’t really supply an solution for your workflow but may hint at what is going wrong in MacOS.

If you can repeat the problem then you can report the bug here:- https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/79-photo-bugs-found-on-ipads/ Being in the cloud should be no difference than on your iPad, which cloud service were you using as there has been problems in the past with dropbox, google drive etc in the past but iCloud generally has been ok. If you uninstall the app then you would lose your projects work, assets etc, can you remember what you were doing to cause that to happen as it is not normal behaviour. Perhaps make a screen recording of it happening or if you have a corrupt file you can upload to the forums for the dev's to try and recover.

Did I Just Lose All My Documents?
Paul Mudditt replied to RedBeard's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
I have stopped using any other suppliers onedrive, google, dropbox free services they all have had problems over the years and subscribe to 2TB iCloud instead. iCloud is the only service I use because of the many advantages over the other solutions especially the space they save on your device when optimise files is enabled, I have a first gen 128GB iPad Pro with 50GB free space but access to 41'000 photos occupying 256GB iCloud photos and 80GB iCloud documents. The fact that I can edit my projects via iCloud Drive on my PC or Mac versions of Affinity without having to transfer anything is brilliant. -

You can use CMD-X to remove selected items as a work around for the delete key not working. -
Cant Open my pictures from my folder
Paul Mudditt replied to Bangla's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
Don't use the files app, try using Open from cloud option instead. EDIT: Can't see that camera on the Apple supported list. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT211241 -
iPadOS 14 & 1.8.6.198 hdr merge bug
Paul Mudditt replied to JB10940's topic in V1 Bugs found on iPads
HDR Merge works fine in my tests on iPad Pro first gen, did you try closing all apps and restarting your iPad or try a Forced Restart to fix it. -
Files from old to new iPad
Paul Mudditt replied to BJP's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
No you must save your project files outside of the app, the best place would be in an iCloud folder that both devices can access. Under preferences change default save location to iCloud. On the Home Screen press the hamburger icon and name your file then tap save. On your new iPad use open from cloud option, browse to the Affinity folder in iCloud and open your file.
