Artboards in AP
Paul Mudditt replied to alfaex's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
It is just a side effect of how the software is constructed, being an ex software developer in my earlier professional days I could see that there was never really 3 packages, just one software core with different user interfaces exposed so knew it would work but perhaps not work well because such test cases would not have been tested. -
Artboards in AP

So I recorded the CreateArtboard macro and added it to my Mud's Macros pack, it works but unfortunately Affinity Photo adds the artboard but then crashes on my Mac. Will try macro on my iPad and PC. Mud's Macros V7.afmacros -
Any type of editing, I suspect when memory starts to get used up, the app just crashes to the Home Screen, no crash notification on the release or the beta version and too unpredictable to screen record. I’ve tried the usual Forced Restarts and closing all other apps but problems persist with this release. I guess this was always eventually going to happen as you can’t get new features without using up more memory so the older devices suffer.

Agreed, the Preferences panel won't even appear on my M1 Mac Mini V1.9.2.4 FIXED: by doing holding control key whilst starting the application to bring up hidden reset mode menu then select all and then clear.

Query about iPad storage
Paul Mudditt replied to Fuzzyfelt's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
You should not keep your work on the Affinity Home Screen, if you do vast quantities of space will be used up internally in the app for file history and snapshots. You should give the projects you want to keep a name and save them to an iCloud folder, then most importantly you must CLOSE them to remove them from the apps internal storage. Projects you don't need to keep should be also closed to delete them. Once they are in the iCloud folder AND you have optimise files turned on in the iPad settings your files will offload from your iPad to save space. You may have projects stored in the On My iPad folder for Affinity Folder, if you need to keep them move them to your iCloud Affinity folder as they will be automatically deleted by iPadOS if you delete the app. After making sure all your work is stored in an iCloud folder you *may* have to delete the App to free up all the space and then re-install, I had to do that recently, likely because of a bug in an earlier version of the app. Offloading the app will not delete the documents data but deleting the app will so make sure you have all your assets, brushes etc saved in an iCloud folder as well.- 5 replies

I get a repeated problem loading Canon CR2 raw from my 1300D, Rebel T5. See video comparison V1.9.2 vs V1.9.1. If video isn’t clear, firstly I try and open the raw file using V1.9.2. Then I return to the Home Screen and use V1.9.1 which successfully opens the file. This happens with all my CR2 files so far. My problematic NEF file I use for these test cases loads ok though. NOTE: I am on iPadOS 14.5 beta so problem might be that. V1.9.1 loads correctly as usual. IMG_0424.MP4 IMG_0350.CR2 IMG_0354.CR2

RAW photos in portrait are pixilated
Paul Mudditt replied to Gbrmedic's topic in V1 Bugs found on iPads
Can you upload a few problem images you have here in a zip file, I think I have stumbled upon a solution and need some other portrait raw images to test it on. Thanks. -

Text wrap function..
Paul Mudditt replied to Rytterfalk's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
@Johannes @VeeMax This has worked in Affinity Photo for iPad since as long ago as I can remember, simply make a shape and click inside it with the text frame tool. IMG_0389.MP4 -
Affinity Photo ignoring iOS edits
Paul Mudditt replied to gionaguidi's topic in V1 Bugs found on iPads
This is intentional, Affinity using import from photos always accesses the RAW original image. If you want to access the image processed by photos or other apps, simply use drag and drop from photos into Affinity to access the JPG version. Hmm, at least this how it used to work. -
@TimKing Works fine on my ancient first generation iPad Pro 9.7”. Have you tried closing all apps then doing a Forced Restart of your iPad. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/ipad/ipad63d30b5a/ios

Think you have posted in the wrong group. However close all of your apps then do a Forced Restart of your iPad. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/ipad/ipad63d30b5a/ios

Maybe check this Rasterise setting, SVG may not support everything you have done in Affinity, so you can choose whether to accurately represent your work, which may mean rasterising some of it or not. I’m guessing there is no vector method of describing your glow effect or the gradient which would need to be rasterised to export as SVG.

Failed to rotate canvas
Paul Mudditt replied to Oscar7's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
That isn't normal, try rebooting your iPad or do a Forced Restart to see if that fixes it.
