  1. That is the way it works. Use a finger to select the source. Use the Pencil to do the cloning. You cannot select the source with the pencil. This is the way it was designed to work.
  2. Why not watch one of the many AFFINITY tutorials available, watching Adobe tutorials is not the way to learn Affinity Photo workflow and will always result in frustration in my personal opinion.
  3. You must remember that some of the effects you can create in Affinity are not definable in Adobe PSD hence when you EXPORT to a DIFFERENT system you must expect loss of INFORMATION if the feature does not have a COMPARABLE conversion available. You should save in Affinity native afphoto format if you create something in Affinity Photo in the same way that you should save in Adobe native PSD format if you create something in Adobe. The addition of a PSD export is just a minor added feature in Affinity. A cross platform feature that Adobe do not do as there is no comparable Export in afphoto format in Adobe.
  4. It is also on the Affinity Home Screen where you choose the size of the canvas and the units you prefer to use as you open a blank document. Yes you can also alter that in resize as well.
  5. Sorry to return to your original problem but did you try pressing and holding the cloud symbol and then selecting the ‘download’ from the pop up menu, when I do that the thumbnail is recreated.
  6. Did you task switch after export or did you return to Affinity Home Screen first to save your work.
  7. Layer renaming works for me, always worth trying closing all apps and doing a Forced Restart of your iPad. Confirmed: Cursor keys no longer work, hopefully this is fixed soon.
  8. Closing the document which has the auto guides added then auto guides hidden will reappear when you reopen the document was reported couple of years back.
  9. I know really hard to do now, definitely a new bug likely associated with an iPadOS15 change.
  10. @DM1@Lee D @Alfred There definitely appears to be a UI bug, it is now extremely difficult BUT POSSIBLE to reveal the other options, but I had to fiddle around to get the menu to slide, so here is a dot dash example, created on iPad. IMG_0528.MP4
  11. @DM1Wow, wonder when this changed, the iPad used to be able to do this, it was hard to find in that the three options used to slide to the left and reveal the other dot dash options.
  12. I disagree, to get a good representation of a signal comprising multiple frequencies under sampled you must apply a low pass filter to avoid aliasing frequencies folding back on the nyquist frequency. Yes I am describing electromagnetic theory after spending many years sampling and processing voltage and current waveforms from the electricity distribution network in real time for protection relays but, the theory works the same for light waves which are also in the electromagnetic spectrum. Without applying a low pass filter the effect you are seeing on windows is likely a minor calculated value difference which is typical of aliasing effects. I guess you could argue that the developers should apply a low pass filter before showing the reduced size image but unless it was a repetitive pattern such as this it wouldn’t be a problem.
  13. Yes looks just like anti-aliasing/under sampling below Nyquist-Shannon frequency which is basic physics occurring as the reduced size image is rendered, don’t think this could be classed as a bug more a feature of your image and how it was constructed, same effect happens if you resize the document as shown. Important factor is the actual exported file is correct. IMG_0484.MP4
  14. Yes you can use compound objects in Photo on iPad:- Method 1: Just create an Asset pack with a Compound Object in it in Designer. You can then use it in Photo on iPad to create further compound objects. Method 2: Use my Create Compound Object macro in my latests Mud's Macros Library. Mud’s Macros V9 SelectionFromLayer - convert a layer into a pixel selection SelectAllLayers - select all layers quickly DeSelectAllLayers - de select all layers quickly PencilPortrait - Convert Photo to pencil sketch (Credit: Alpha Sierra, YouTube) InpaintCrop2 - fix edges after a straighten crop (Credit: Jim Welsh) Inpaint - the inpaint option from the desktop. Sketch Effect by R C-R - Converts to a sketch effect Dave’s 6-Layer High Pass Sharpening - Uses 6 layers of sharpening ExpandStroke - Expand Stroke from Designer Create Artboard - Create an Artboard from Designer TextOnCurve - Text on Curve from Designer Pre-Process - Add a curve and a sharpening layer FSStack by InAffinity Wraparound V1.8 by John Rostron Create Compound Object - Create Compound from Designer These macros will work on PC, Mac and iPad versions. It is a “.afmacros” library file so in desktop use view->studio->library and import into the library pane not the macro panel which is only for single “.afmacro” files. Mud's Macros V9.afmacros
  15. This is IOS/iPadOS15 new feature even mentioned in the tips app.
  16. Did you try saving all your work to iCloud and re-installing the app? As I said earlier this fixed things for me.
  17. Sounds like you are opening an optimised JPG after updating the iPadOS. Which method are you using to get the image into Affinity, using the "Import From Photos" option or drag and drop from Photos or via share from Photos or via Place command.?
  18. @Mxa Try closing all open apps down. Wait about 20 seconds then do a Forced Restart. See halfway don this article:- https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/ipad/ipad63d30b5a/ios
  19. Do you have an Adobe app installed such as Fresco as the Adobe apps are badly designed and take ownership of PSD files and prevent other apps like Affinity opening them. Try uninstalling your Adobe apps.
  20. Your best bet is to save all your projects to an iCloud folder and any assets brushes etc that you have created to an iCloud folder of Affinity resources. Make sure you move any projects in the Affinity OnMyiPad folder into a more secure iCloud folder. Then delete the app, do a forced restart of the iPad then re-install. This is what I had to do.
  21. I am joining this conversation late so sorry if it has moved on from this but you are not comparing eggs with eggs here, the adobe image has been exported at 5 times the pixel resolution. Change you DPI for the document.
  22. At a guess you mean an Asset Library? If so you should always export your work, asset libraries, custom brushes and store in an iCloud folder, just in case you ever have to re-install the app. To do so you normally simply tap the 3 bar hamburger icon above the asset or brushes studio and select the export category, export brushes etc to create backup copies.
  23. My problem was the app was crashing on startup, hence the nuclear option of a re-install. I am however using iPadOS15 Beta which I suspect was part of my problem.
  24. It is ok Walt, the missing photo albums must have been an iPadOS 15 beta issue, the latest iPadOS 15 beta this week seems to have fixed the problem for now.
  25. 1. Are you up to date on iPadOS, which version are you using ? 2. Which exact iPad Pro model, 2015/16, 2017, 2018,2020,2021 ? 3. Very important, make sure you have saved all your projects in an external iCloud folder. 4. Try closing all open apps, waiting a few seconds then do a Forced Restart. If you have a home button, press and hold both the home button and the power button continuously until you see the Apple logo. If you do not have a home button, it is Volume up then volume down then press and hold the power button continuously until you see the Apple logo. 5. So long as you have done steps 3 & 4, have you tried deleting the app and re-installing ? This certainly made a difference on my 2016 iPad Pro 9.7”.
