Only had the app for a week on a new iPad 9 15.3.
When using the selection tool. Selecting area then selecting new layer option. Hit apply and crashes. Reinstalled twice.
Not happy
Welcome to the forums. !
Without additional information such as uploading your .afphoto or .afdesign file to these forums difficult to say, except a common problem is always to make sure you have rasterised your image layer before attempting any pixel level operations. In the layers studio, if it says 'image' then use the rasterise option first, it should then say 'pixel'.
If it is not that please save your document and upload it here for others to look at or upload a screen recording of the steps you took before it crashed. -

Hi! I am used to Photoshop and changed to affinity on the iPad . Now when i change colours for instance on a layer the effect shows on all layers underneath. For instance lets say i have a fence and want to change the colour it is super annoying if i have to do it with a mask. why doesn't it only change the fence? In Photoshop that was super easy. if it changes everything underneath i need to always erase the effect from the rest of the layer. Is there anything i have overseen? Thanks for answering me!
You need to lift your adjustment layer in the layers studio and nest it with the fence layer you want it to affect.
Alternatively if the fence is not on its own layer then create a selection of the fence and the adjustment will only affect the fence.

Every time I go to the tone mapping persona, the app crashes, I’ve tried closing my documents and restarting my iPad but still no luck. Anyone have any suggestions?
Can you upload a sample image or .afphoto file that crashes for others to test. Also useful to state which iPad you are using, which version of iPadOS and which version of the AP app you are using.

Here is a trivial macro in Affinity Photo that replicates exactly Content Aware Move from PS.
To use, create your selection and refine as necessary, select your image layer then run the Content Aware Move macro in my Mud's Macros V11.afmacros library. See demo.
The macro steps are simply,1. Rasterise current layer
2. Duplicate Selection
3. Select original layer
4. CMD/CTRL-X to cut out the background
5. Grow selection by 8 pixels
6. Content aware fill using EDIT->INPAINT command
7. Remove the marching ant selection
Demo of use on Mac and iPad versions after making a selection attached.
Mud’s Macros V11
SelectionFromLayer - convert a layer into a pixel selection
SelectAllLayers - select all layers quickly
DeSelectAllLayers - de select all layers quickly
PencilPortrait - Convert Photo to pencil sketch (Credit: Alpha Sierra)
InpaintCrop2 - fix edges after a straighten crop, same as Content Aware Crop functionality in Photoshop. (Credit: Jim Welsh)
Inpaint - the inpaint option from the desktop.
Sketch Effect by R C-R - Converts to a sketch effect (Credit: R C-R)
Dave’s 6-Layer High Pass Sharpening - Uses 6 layers of sharpening (Credit: Dave Straker)
ExpandStroke - Expand Stroke from Designer
Create Artboard - Create an Artboard from Designer in Photo
TextOnCurve - Text on Curve from Designer
Pre-Process - Add a curve and a sharpening layer
FSStack Frequency Separation Stack by InAffinity (Credit: Dave Straker)
Wraparound V1.8 by John Rostron ) (Credit: John Rostron)
Create Compound Object - Create Compound from Designer
Content Aware Move **NEW**
Create and refine a selection, run macro, new layer created from the selection and the source area is filled using content aware fill command edit->Inpaint. **NEW**
These macros were written on desktop for use on my favourite iPad Pro platform but will work on PC, Mac and iPad versions. Some of the macros will look a little odd to desktop users as they were my attempt to add some of the missing functionality from the desktop to the iPad version. It is a “.afmacros” library file so in desktop use view->studio->library and import into the library pane not the macro panel which is only for single “.afmacro” files.

Dear Developers,
We found your Affinity Photo lacking in skin retouching capabilities. There is no easy way to fix and enhance skin that is rough, has pimples, wrinkles, etc. At least your competitor, ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate 2020, has this capability. They have a Skin Tune feature that allows us to adjust a few sliders and the face of a person with bad skin came out looking perfect. Please bring this feature to your Affinity Photo.
Another needed feature is the Camera Shake Reduction or Motion Blur Reduction. Taking pictures with unsteady hands causes motion blur and we needed a capability to fix this issue. Make this happens guys.
We also need all those Content-Aware tools such as Content-Aware Move, Warp, Fill, etc that are from Photoshop CC 2020. All these features are very important and needed to manipulate/fix an image. Learn something from them and make something similar to those features into your your software.
Furthermore, we need advanced selection capabilities for complex things such as hair, fur or something of that nature.
We want more advanced offline image manipulation and retouching features to fix images better. Programmers and developers, you guys can learning something from Photoshop CC 2020 and ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate 2020 and bring ideas over to Affinity Photo. Test out their latest trial version and learn from them. They have many advanced offline features that your software doesn't have and focus on those. Don't look at cloud features since most people don't use them.
I'm trying out your software and I find it is lacking in advanced editing power.
If Affinity Photo want to be the next industry standard, then you need to make those things happen as mentioned above.
Send this feedback to the right department please so they can make your software better!
Sincerely,

Hi! I just noticed in the Apple App Store that Affinity Photo is optimized for M1 computers such as mine. But since I haven't installed my copy from the App Store, and rather downloaded it from the serif.com website, I am not sure if I do have the M1 version. Is there a way to check this? Thank you!
So long as you have the latest version, the release package contains both Intel and Apple Silicon M1 cpu binaries so do not worry.

I ment PSD. I attached some files. I have exported similar files before and it worked. May be the problem is large number of layers and groups?
example (2).psd 77.97 MB · 0 downloads slice1 example (1).psd 67.72 MB · 0 downloads svg example.svg 39.72 MB · 0 downloads Untitled Copy Copy Copy.afdesign 13.71 MB · 0 downloads
Took a few minutes but your .afdesign file exported ok on my 11” M1 iPad Pro.

I wonder whether @Paul Mudditt is able to help.
Hi Alfred, the guy who I passed on the details of the English and German cheat sheets never got back to me unfortunately so I am unsure if a French AZERTY version has been created yet. However I know that one french person re-programmed the square brackets to be round brackets for brush size adjustments since square brackets don’t exist on a french AZERTY keyboard layout.

Hi,
I have an iPad M1 with 16 GB. Since iPadOS 15 can use more than 5 GB, it would interesting if Affinty Photo 1.10.3 can use the Maximum of 12 GB Ram.
By an attempt to load an Image greater as 5 GB Affinity Photo crashed.
Thanks
Sorry for my Bad English, I will do my best not to write total Nonsens
As I understand it, this is controlled by iPadOS, perhaps in iPadOS16 greater use of the M1’s RAM will be available.

Hi there,
I've been using the Designer Beta for a number of months now and tried to open the app today to find it has expired. Is there a new Beta in the offing so I can at least access my files please? I can't find them in the cloud or anywhere else thats accessible on my iPad.
Thanks
No the released version is ahead of the beta version and has been for several months. You will need to wait for the next beta release to access your files. It is unwise to store your files within the app, you should always store outside of the app files you need to keep preferably in an iCloud folder.

Have you tried going into the layers panel to strip out what you need from the PDF. A PDF is just a layered document so can be exploded and content extracted.

I’m really frustrated and demoralized...after 2 hours searching on web and this forum.
I have several images with different sizes, i just drop them all in a AP canvas in order to export those singles images with same size.
1. export persona ask me to set every slice manually...do i really need export persona to export some files???
Absolutely not, don’t use export persona, much easier to use File - Export or File - Share..

Yes this works for me from a PSD import, however I have seen it not working as well.
In trying to find out why it sometimes doesn’t work, I found that saving it as an .aftemplate seems to stop part of this working, anyone know why?

Trims objects to meet the edges of other objects. Also lines.Easiest way is to drag a shape such as a rectangle on top of an object and in the layers panel lift it onto the object layer slightly to the right which will clip the object to the shape. You can further reposition the clipping layer and resize it by selecting only the clipping layer in the layers panel.
This demo on desktop but it is exactly the same on iPad version. -

The older iPads just don’t have enough RAM for latest iPadOS and Affinity, I had to upgrade to M1 to get a decent working experience unfortunately.

Affinity Photo is NOT a DAM - Digital Asset Manager like Lightroom.
In actual fact most of the DAM functionality of LR is built into Apple Photos which has quite an impressive image editor for basic edits, crops and colour corrections.
Affinity Photo is akin to Photoshop which you use where more individual image in depth edits are required.
What I am trying to say here, is that this is not a missing feature in AP just like it is not missing feature in PS. It is a different tool altogether.
