  1. Can some one tell me what the difference is between a fill layer and a pixel layer, if there is a difference? The one difference that I know of is that when a fill layer is used you can continue to edit a gradient but on a pixel layer you can't. cheers, Jason
  2. I am having problems with new pixel layers. I click on the icon to create a new pixel layer and want to paint colour or use it for a dodge and burn layer but when I try and fill the layer or paint on it, nothing happens. I do have the correct tool selected and have made sure the opacity and flow are set to 100...just to make sure something would happen. has anyone else noticed this issue? I just downloaded the beta 1.5 RC1 the other day. Jason
  3. Any one know how I can create something like this in affinity photo, or create a look like it...?
  4. Hi, I am wondering if anyone can figure out how to do (video attached) type of sharpening with affinity photo? I have tried but can't seem to get it. The how to is in the video done by Jimmy McIntyre. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVgfbiH4-fw
  5. I restarted the program and it worked but it seems to happen after the program has been open for a while. I have made sure that the I was on the right layer (only one layer to choose from on the picture I was working on this last time it happened). I'll post some screen shots if it happens again...
  6. Hi, I am using a MAS version of affinity photo 1.4.3 and every time I try to make a selection and have the output as New Layer then click apply, nothing happens. A new layer comes up but it's blank... Anyone else have this issue or know why it is happening? This just started in the last week. Jason
  7. The update for affinity photo doesn't appear to be showing up in the app store here in Canada....
  8. Nice photo.. this is my go at editing your shot.. It was first tweaked in Lightroom then 90% in affinity photo. There is the before/after pic and a screen shot of some edits used in affinity.
  9. Really love these tutorials and how you keep updating them every few weeks. I was just trying to figure out how to do light beams the other day. I kinda of got it but the tutorials that were just put up today helped so much more! I don't have a good working knowledge of vector layers yet and this helped. On another note, I think a tutorial that explains what the blending options are best used for would be great. I end up just scrolling through them all to see what looks best because I don't know what they actually do or for what purpose they should actually be used for. cheers, Jason
  10. Thanks for help! I will play with both and see which one I think works better. If nothing I have learned something new. :). For the second long exposure shot, ya, it's not likely going to turn out the way I hope, it was just a little too windy...
  11. Hi, So I have these two photos and I want to replace the tree in the long exposure shot with the tree that doesn't have the motion blur in it from the wind. I can't seem to figure out how to make a really good selection of the tree in either picture. It would take forever to do it with the quick selection brush and refine it. I'm sure there is a way to make this an easier process. Does any one have suggestions? Cheers, Jason
  12. Can anyone tell me how to do a proper dodge and burn layer? All I seem to be able to do is to duplicate a background layer and then burn or dodge on it. Is this the only way? I can't seem to figure out how to do a proper 50% grey layer and use that for dodging and burning. Maybe that way isn't the way it's suppose to be done...I'm not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. cheers, Jason
  13. Thanks MEB! Do you have suggestions for tweaking the settings for the program...? More of just a general questions that relates to this to get the best performance regardless... Jason
