    • I’m getting a similar issue with the iPad version
    • I’m loading in Canon 6D mk 2 raws and about 2 out of 10 images are very dark in affinity develop , unusable , I ended up using affinity on my PC to convert them which was fine
    • frustrating as affinity on iPad is otherwise excellent but this issue is a real problem for me as I end up having to process my raws on PC anyway

Sorry to hear you are having a problem with the iPad version. For me as of version 1.7 the problem has been eliminated on the Windows version. Hopefully in future updates to the iPad version your problem will be eliminated also, good luck.

    @Gregory St. Laurent

Thanks for your reply. Your discussion is known to me, but my first attempt to use Portrait Pro as plugin was in AP 1.7.2 where I assumed that it should do because of some positive news found in the release discussion.I fear, that your experience is not valid in general. My Portrait Pro 18 is an upgrade to V17 and with Body Pro V2 it is the same issue, but it was no upgrade. Even worse: I made the rollback to AP 1.7.1 release version and there is no function as well. As recommended, I deinstalled AP 1.7.2 first, but was astonished then, that all my 1.7.2 stuff (own macros and filter plugin links) was available in new 1.7.1 as well without any action needed. And there was no requirement to input license code during 1.7.1 installation. That is why I rechecked the 1.7.1 version number on startup, but it is as expected 1.7.1.404 shown on the splash screen. Meanwhile I have the suspicion that behind such things there is a lack of cooperation will between serif and other software companies (see as well the comments from Mark Ingram towards AcdSee). Nevertheless I addressed the problem as well towards Anthropics and will see if there is an answer the next days.

How is my experience not valid? I too ran Portrait Pro V17 on earlier versions of Affinity Photo with no issues. I then had purchased V18 of Portrait Pro and had issues where it would lock up Affinity I then uninstalled it reinstalled V17 and proceeded to install V18 over the V17 install to my surprise it worked. As of version 1.7 of Affinity Photo all bets were off because it no longer worked, then they released V1.7.2 patch and it's been fixed, I now have full functionality to Portrait Pro V18 as a plugin. The problem is with Anthropics! they have changed something in the new version and all corespondents I've had with them have been in vain, they are not interested in Affinity Photo all they spit out is how it works with Photoshop!

Just a hunch and I'm not a plugin devloper so couldn;t say for sure, but it might be a good idea to make a copy of the .8bf in your photoshop plugins folders as the issue is there. I'm wondering when you update from v17 to v 18 if the Portrait Pro application is updated but the. 8bf is not updated.

I've tried that and it had no effect. when I installed V18 to it's own folder it would not work, but when I reinstalled V17 and installed V18 to the V17 folder it worked so I left it there. I did try copying the .8bf files and a few other experiments but nothing worked so I just use it with V18 installed to the V17 folder. Weird?

Installed Release Version 1.7.2. of AP today. Afterwards configuration of Portrait Pro 18 as plugin. Plugin did show up then under Filter --> Plugins -->"PortraitPro..."

Pixel layer containing Picture with a face was marked in Photo Persona. After clicking "Portrait Pro" AP hangs and must be killed by task manager. Task manager did not show a process in that state where Portrait Pro could be assumed behind. Same happened after configuring Pro Body 2. What I should mention is that all NIK Filters are working.

As various users in AP forums give different experiences with the plugin interface, could you please inform if this is an acknowledged error or what state that topic has inside Serif meanwhile. Is there an official howto (besides that of 2016) available about the configuratio of that interface?

    Thanks in advance.

This has been an ongoing issue, see my earlier discussion. It seems to work if you purchased V18 as an upgrade (as I did) but if you are installing from scratch it just locks up. It may have something to do with a registry entry that has been changed from V17 to V18 of Portrait Pro this is only speculation. Anyway this is all on Anthropics and they really aren't interested in fixing it!

I just purchased v18 of Portrait Pro Studio a few days ago for Windows - I sent a report request to Anthropics and asked for the v17 installer as v18 does not work as plugin inside Afinnity Photo. Their reply was simple  'we do not support Affinity Photo'. Shame as I understand it both companies are based in England too and I am sure that Photoshop is going to haemorrhage customers right, left and center over the next few years as Photoshop is looking like a dinosaur and Adobe is not exactly customer friendly.

BTW, Are you on Windows or Mac  ?

Just shear laziness! I'm on Windows 10, If it works for me it probably is something very simple to change to get it to work for everyone else. I hope I don't need to reinstall anytime soon because I'll probably be in the same boat as I only really use Portrait Pro as a plugin from Affinity Photo for Portrait and Wedding shoots.

I'm not having much success. I have both 32bit and 64bit plug-in installed but only the PortraitPro with 3 dots appear in the list  I'm using Portrait Pro Studio 18.4.

I'm not sure what is going on with PortraitPro V18 as several people that I have seen aren't able to get it to work with Affinity Photo. The only thing that comes to mind is that when I purchased V18 it was an upgrade and I installed it over V17 (which always worked fine) and it works for me, this is only a guess. I would contact Anthropics and see what they have to say about the situation, Good Luck

Hi, this is intentional right now (perhaps in the future we can add an option to apply the sensor's clip to the image). This means we return all of the pixels that were captured by the sensor, whereas other applications will clip those out.

That is one thing I really like about Affinity Photo, the little extra resolution you squeeze out of our cameras! :)

I only have one selection under Antropics. I don't really understand what you mean by a selection with three dots. I don't see anything like that. Where do you see it?

For the moment this plugin for v18 doesn't work for me. On my laptop v17 is doing fine. I can't reactivate v17 on my desktop as confirmed by Antropics.

    Thanks for your help.

I'm currently at work but when I get home tonight I'll take a screen shot. You may need to reinstall your copy of v18 as it works perfectly fine on my Windows 10 machines (Desktop & Laptop) with the new Beta.

Hi, since the latest update Portrait Pro 18 is not opening and instead causes Photo to hang. You can find out more at this thread. Thanks for any help!

I mentioned this a few days ago, they are aware of the issue along with a few other plugins that don't work now. They are working on a fix.

  11. Portrait Pro 18 & Landscape Pro 3 no longer work as plugins from Affinity Photo which used to work in 1.6.5. When either are used Affinity locks-up where it needs to be killed in Task manager. I know they are not supported plugins but as they are fairly popular I hope they are included as a supported plugins in the near future.
