Hi Michael, I am at the moment not sure if you understood me right... Well, yes, the re-routing of the text flow on The Masterpages works well.. But when i then switch to the normal pages, that i had this masterpage aplied to, there the rerouted textflow doesnt apear.. For me this looks like a bug.. the secound thing i was thinking about is, that it would be somehow right, that textframes between similar masterpages should be linked automatically.. looks logical for me..

I used the new options to position placeholder frames on the masterpages, and as like in the Video for new masterpages funktionality, i positioned several images using the place images funktionality.. now looking to the Ressource Collector, i notice that the footage doesnt get listed at all in the Ressource collector..... but it needs to, if i want to embed it or make it linked... looks like a bug. Update ! i droped a file directly on my page and this footage is visible... available in the ressource collector.

Hi , I just downloaded the newest Beta, 1.70. 227 The realy great News for me is: Yeah... you can position your Textframes in the masterpages, and put the Text in the Paages !!! so you make your textframes layout inside the masterpages as expected, but the text now flexible in the Pages, this way you do no more need to position all Textframes manualy on each new page and can use masterpages for this.. But.. there are still some things i dont expect this way, and i am unsure if its a bug or not.. so please have a look at the screenshot and the explanations on it.. i created some masterpages as test. i positioned 2 Textframes in the master and linked them looked at the pages, and the setup was reflected fine on the pages, i had the masterpages aplied to.. filled in filler text in the pages WHICH WORKED FINE ........ YEAH GREAT STEP Forward .... came back to my masterpage, inserted a new Textframe in between the two allready existing ones, and linked the Textframe from left side to the secound new Textframe.. worked fine.. came back to usual pages, but now, the new link didnt apear here on the new pages... this seems to be wired.. it alway should reflect the changes on the masterpages. I also had to connect the last Textframes on my double sides, manualy to the first textframe on the following doublepage which has the same master aplied.. I am not sure if theres a way, and if it would be and advantage, if this would happen automatically.

Well i allready understood now that the document i got , somehow was screwed up, and i translated it one to one to publisher without thinking to much about it.. I still would need for my purpose, to have some sort of "mother document", wich enables our architects to pick all the stuff, they need for making their presentation. logicaly , this for mee would now belong to the asset pannel.. But there i cant store whole pages and furthermore, i cant see what a page would look like, befor i would drag it to the scene. So another suggestion was, just to leave in the master pages section only what belongs there, and to put into the real pages section everythin possibly nessesair for differing presentations... positioning in between colord blank pages, to get some optical feedback, when scrolling throug the document, to see the differing groups of pages available.. So our architects, just would drag and drop the pages to the beginning of the document in the order they need, and delete the rest... this at the moment makes sense for me...

Hi fde101.. I also had no idea. But i am not a specialist in this.. i got such a document from our PR Team.. so maybe this totaly doesnt make any sense, to use the Masterpannel as an Assetrepository.. i allready got elsewere the suggestion to just copy all this stuff directly to a templetefile.. which makes sense.. To your first Point.. when you compare the Pages Pannel of Affinity to the one of illustrator, Illustrator at the moment wins hands down when you look at the optical readability.. in Affinity Photo left.. all pages have the same width, look same, only in the middle a tiny section separates the pages from the masters.. In Illustrator on the other hand.. with only one look you see what is what..

Hi Thank you dominik. You are right.. This somewhat strage Structure results of the pure replication of the Indesign Documents, the Public relations appartment has thrown to me.. I on my own are part of the iT Team (The years befor i was a 3D specialist for Architectural Presentations), and i have to dig into new and potentialy helpful software, that in the future could ease the pain, and also spare money, if possible.. thats why i look deep into affintiy for our 600 Employee company.. this Said, i am deeper in Affinity as anyone here (esp. in Photo, becaus Potosop was part of my dayly work the years ago..) but i am at no means a specialist in Designing Text, Layout Books, ore using Indesing... The PR Team on the other hand doesnt understand Publisher and doesnt want to understand it as long, as we cant prove its worth it... So i have to learn each and every day... which makes fun.... present the results .... and when a new software gets rated as worthy... we will lift the hammer... So... your suggestions are totaly welcome.. because i only in this first step recreated what the PR Appartment maybe in an bad attemp has produced... i dintnt question it at this moment.. but that will be the next stepp.. So your approach sounds logical.. after reproducing this monstrous document.. ill try your attemp. Independend of this.. i allready can see many things that could be improved in publisher or in photo... so hopefully serif listens to us...

by the way... just look on the viewportdisplay of pages and masterpages in Indesign.. its done very slick.. just by positioning the names of the masterpages in front of the masterpages, and organising the names of the real pages below, you clearly !! see with one look what are masterpages, and which ar pages.... in Publisher all bleeds together and its difficult to see what are masterpages, and what are real pages... Come on Servif... be superior.. i am sure.. here has to be done some polishing of the interface....

I tried to copy, move, past again using strg+j. but this doesnt work... when you Copy move and repeat copying with strg + j, it repeats the process by moving. but this doesnt give you the possibilty to define the distance in numbers.. so in this case produce an object move it in the transform panel down right as far as you want, copy move it by mouse using snap and strg+j repeat it.. this way it should work.. by the way.... strg (german) equals cmd....

Come on !!! this would be great woudnt it ? reorganising by drag and drop.. coloring for diversification of content.. organising in categories.... you alllll want this.. dont you..?

allright... it´s somewhat useful.... advantage over storring different optional Pages as content inside of the Masters area of the Pages pannel is, that the master pannel doesnt get so overloaded with dozenz of pages... But !! I get no chance to preview, what the page looks like, befor i switch from the dropdown to another page of this embeded file.. So this is fine somehow. But still doesnt reach the aim, to give to my architects a way to fast reorganize their presentation, while getting visual feedback and hold all options easy in one file.. maybe something as the assetsmenue with previews of the optonal pages would do this ?

hi haakoo , What exactly would this do.. Can i embedd and linke single pages of another publisher file ? One of the problems i would like to solve, would be the ability, to select single pages, i could use in my new presentation, a way to pic up what i need and drop it to my new document .. a sort of libary for single pages.. could i do something comparable with your aproach ? its not about single images, but about whole pages and their perfectly constructed layout, all Text, Styles images and tables....

Yes maybe this makes Sense, as i also wrote as a side notice in my suggestion... my ideas here are not polished... but maybe a starting point for improvements...

Hi I just recreated a Document for my company that they use for our Architects, when they make Layouts for Beamer Presentations (most time the produce pdf´s) I Found that they not only use the Masterpages for Structuring Layouts and Design elements, but especially , to Copy predefined Contend from the Masterpages because the Presentations mostly reuse Informations about our company, but also have to be flexible adopted. So they just Copy paste what they need to the document pages. So some suggestions from me. Realy not polished. Maybe some of the ideas doesn´t make sense, when i look deeper.. but it s open for discussion and maybe for an improved Pages Pannel for Publisher 1.9 :-) Better Organisation of Masterpages with Categories and Subcategories Ability to set Pathes on your Serverstructure for all users of a company, to load typical Masterpages from this location if needed . Also the possibility to set such a path for all copys of Publisher when Installing the Software from our IT Team. ( So typical Users only load the app, and the pathes are allredy set to the right place... also for Colors, Assets and so on good) Drag and Drop of Masters as in the layers pannel of affinity Photo, to reorganise the Masterpages... Highly useful. Set Colors for better recognicion of differing Categories or / And Masterpages. Heres a Screenshot of a Mocup... i created..

All right Mick Rose, I have some Template Files here, my company is using for Beamer Presentations for example.. Here very often, differing Pages that are predefined have to be loaded, and this is done via the Masterpages Pannel inside of Indesign... you finde here some 30 Differing Pages, that you can apply per drag and drop to your Presentation indsingn file.. to be able to change order would be very appreciated. which in indesign is possible .

Hi, I have Problems to reorganise Masterpages. I wanted to reorganise the Order by moving the Masterpages per drag and drop up and down.. this doesnt work as far as i can see.. Does anyone know a way to do this ?

Wow. I See this is a real problem. I also wondered, why my document stays the same size, if i make the images linked.. This is realy not the way it´s supposed to be.. Affinity should change this strange behvior.

? No ideas ?
