Chris, so sorry, I missed this response. I am on the M1 Max Studio, so no. BTW, seeing this issue on 2.4.1 (just released). However, going to the Settings/Performance/Display, and clicking "Use only integrated GPU (requires restart)" seems to fix the issue. However, I still have a 2019 MacBook Pro. I don't use that nearly as often with Affinity as I do on the M1, so right now don't know if the same issue resides on it.

Hey Chris, Basically I just created a new 8.5x11 doc. But I just tried an 5.5x8.5 doc, worked fine. After I saw your response, I tried the 8.5x11 again. Now looks fine. Totally strange.

@Chris B, This strange behavior is happening in Publisher 2.4. Just created a new doc for each; seems OK so far in Designer and Photo, but I just updated. Any ideas?ubP

Hi all, I've seen this occasionally over the years in both Publisher and Designer, where the full page view shows the view attached in this post. I'm posting this from using the latest version of Publisher (2.3). I've seen this occur in silicon and Intel Macs. Obviously, the whole page should be white, but as you can see, there is only one part of the page in white, the rest is the pasteboard color. In this particular example, I was opening an IDML file, and this is what I got. I doubt it has any bearing, but thought it worth a mention. If it helps, I'm running: Apple M1 Max Studio (64GB ram, 4TB SSD) MacOS 14.1.2 Affinity 2.3

I was poking around, looking for a solution on this (what InDesign calls "smart quotes") for a small book I'm putting together. Although I don't see anything to use in the Find/Replace dialog, I did find a workaround. My best practices include Style Sheets (or Text Styles here). So within my text style edits I changed Language/Typography Script to Auto, and now when I search for a quote, I just type in a quote in the result it show me within the text box. Hopefully there will be a better solution in any upcoming update to Affinty Publisher.

I checked what you tried, and I'm seeing that too. However, the experience that brought me here was creating and applying the Style within the same document! I would add the "wrong" value was off by a couple of hundred points! Literally. However, I think I might have found the solution, based on what you said about resolution. I noticed when I applied the styles I created, the "scale with object" must have been selected when I created the style. Once I deleted the styles I made, I recreated them with the "scale with object" box unchecked, and that seems to fix it. Thanks for giving me the idea!

I am using V2.1.1 of Designer, on an M1 Max Mac Studio (4TB SSD, 64 GB Ram, on OS 13.5) I started by creating an object with a stroke color and stroke weight I wanted to keep as a style. I created 2 Styles: - 6 pt, 100% black stroke - 9 pt, 40% black stroke When applying what I created to an object or stroke, the stroke width created is NOT what I made in the style. As a matter of fact, the stroke width is different each time I apply it (300 pt, 63.9 pt, etc - strange!). The color seems to work fine. I'm open to suggestion here, if anyone else can replicate this so it works correctly, let me know. All I know is that I need to manually change the stroke weight to what I created in the style each time after I apply it.

I am having the same issue as @SStohelit. @MikeTO mentions that Affinity recommends working directly off the internal drive. Frankly, I have not been doing that, but do have a few files I cannot open in AD2. Can I get some help here, or should I try to d/l AD1 and resave it?

LeeThorpe, Thanks for your response. Yeah, I saw those, but nothing specific for creating a key command to snap object to margins, page edges. Having those is a real time saver in my day-to-day layout work with InDesign. IMO, the Key Command assignments in Publisher V2 for this would be a great feature add. Tom

V2 of Affinity is awesome, really enjoying the new features. InDesign allows key commands for moving objects, etc. Is there a way to assign a key command for snapping objects to margins, pages, etc.

Is it possible to assign a key command to snap a selected object to a margin, page edge, or guide? I don't see that listed as on option in the Key Commands area. If not, I think it would be a great feature to add. Thanks!

Looks to be the same issue for the GH6. I don't have one yet, but tried opening a RAW file I was able to download to check out.

I believe it's been mentioned before, but a Book function might be nice.

Hey all, Thanks for continuing to improve and dedicate the hard work to make Affinity products the best on the market. I recently used AP to produce a 24-page ad booklet for a fundraiser. It was a learning curve for a production/print ready piece. I've posted some of those in the appropriate forums. Imagine my surprise when I saw that a "Collect" function was added to the beta. A welcome addition. However, will we see the ability to collect ALL files (linked files, fonts and the AP doc) to send off to a vendor. Yes, I know (and have) sent a final pdf to vendors for printing, but I have one vendor that may actually use AP at some point. Thanks!

However, no such dialog on using the Place command. Looks like a bug, so I'll post this there as well. Using InDesign as an example, you get an alert of missing fonts from within a document and within imported art as well. Seems you only get an alert of missing fonts in the main Publisher doc. Neither Font or Resource Manager show it either. I got bitten by this yesterday when I sent a pdf proof of an ad program to a client, only to have him call to tell me several pages looked strange. That's when I figured out what happened. I can't really expect that businesses that submit ads as a pdf know to embed the fonts first, so this wouldn't happen, but there you are. My quick solution was to outline the fonts in the original document and export the art again. Not a best-practice move in my book, but until I learn Publisher better, that's what I'll do. Actually, you can control this when you create a Paragraph Style. I don't recall InDesign checking for those in it's Preflighting. See screen shot PDF below. Screen Shot 2019-10-19 at 20.29.10.pdf

Sean, In all honesty, I'm agreeing with Mark on this. Just didn't know it works that way, and it was becoming frustrating. Walt is also correct that it is DEFINED as an override. Might just be the way I'm used to doing things from "other" software. What I'm saying is that if I need a specific amount of leading on a paragraph, I can simply create a Paragraph Style for that, and make twiddly adjustments locally when necessary. That's where those key commands for those adjustments come in handy.

I began to do a video, with new docs on all Affinity products, and the key command works fine....so now I was really wondering... So I went back to my original doc in Affinity Photo, and found I had a value of 30 in the Character/Positioning and Transform/Leading Override. Once I changed the value to Auto, I was able to use the Key Command. So it appears that locks in any leading without begin able to adjust it. Looks like user error on my part. Sorry about that, all! The doc is too big to attach here, but hope my explanation is clear. Thanks! I do enjoy Affinity products!
