  1. You can get similar results, yes, but you require way more points to pin the layer so you don't get those stretches. I agree that the Photoshop version is smarter and a lot easier to use. If Affinity Deform had the ability to mark how much influence each point had instead of being a global editing fall-off until other points are put down, it would be easy to use as well. Fix the fall-off issue with more options plus a way to weight paint how much each point will influence the layer (like weight paint when rigging in a 3D software) and you won't have to scrap the entire thing like you suggested.
  2. I mean, it is still useful and does basically the same thing. I would agree that the current version could benefit from having weight influences to be able to bend things more easily, but that doesn't mean it should be scrapped.
  3. I was thinking about this Set Line Width At Point pop-up window. I like that we can set the exact values with this, but it is a bit annoying having it pop up this way. My suggestion is to move the value to the top toolbar settings where you type in the value beforehand, which you then activate by pressing ctrl+L click like how it currently works. Same functionality, but with the added benefit where you can quickly set multiple points to the same width by just clicking without getting stuck with that pop-up window. It would also allow users to set line width to 0 with a modifier instead of just clicking on the curve lines like now. More flexible and easier to use!
  4. Another idea! It would be neat if it was possible to to basically have something equivalent to "Split curve after node" for the width points to get points with the same length between each point. Just a faster way of creating ton of width points that can be adjusted for a more pattern like behaviour. Just a thought!
  5. By the way, I appreciate that it is easy to set the width to 0 with the tool when clicking on the line. Makes it easy to break a line when intersecting with others to create the illusion that it is cut when it is not. I hope that will remain with some sort of modifier if it of some reason is decided to be changed.
  6. I know. I am just saying that the functionality isn't there for breaking the start and end widths from each other like in the Profile panel. You can get practically the similar effect, sure, but the tool just doesn't handle it the same way as when doing it from the panel. Might be worth considering if you want to add it in to make them behave the same across the board.
  7. Not really. It's the same effect as selecting all the nodes and using Convert to Sharp, except it is done automatically when drawn with less steps. It would be even nicer if it was possible to toggle between curves and hard edges with a shortcut while continuously drawing, but that might be asking too much.
  8. Found a visual bug where the mask silhouette breaks when building vectors with the Width Tool when combined with Symbols.
  9. Thanks a bunch! I don't know what changed, but I was able to get it to work now. I remember typing = into the Transform panel, but last night it didn't work. Odd. A great quality of life feature for sure. I need this every time I drag in reference images and having to align them in a grid like fashion. It's even better that it takes Lock Aspect Ratio into account as well. Much appreciated! Edit: Did another test with the X, Y, Rotation, and Sheer values and it works there as well. Fantastic!
  10. Speaking of smoothing algorithms, or rather lackthereof, it would be nice if there was a hard edges only option where there are no curves created whatsoever when drawing. Personally when I draw silhouettes I prefer having hard edges because it makes it easier to create interesting shape language that can be easily modified with curves in places afterwards when needed. I know the Pen Tool can do that, but I like the chaotic nature of the Pencil Tool since it is full free form drawing at a faster speed that I am more comfortable with.
  11. It does not. This only works for regular vector lines and vector raster brushes. If Affinity supported pure vector brushes we could make our own dotted vector lines with varied line widths and even more complex patterns.
  12. I noticed that this tool has a hard time staying in one spot when there is overlapping going on along the curve when you want to just adjust the width.
  13. It means only the key object has a height of 100 pixels while everything else gets resized, but none of them have 100 pixel heights like the key object.
  14. I have more than one item selected, which is why I ask how to get it to work.
  15. Pretty fun and fast to work on clean line art with this tool I got to say!
  16. @Aammppaa How does it work? I activated Transform Objects Separately and typed in "=100" in the Height box in the Transform panel. The objects did not become 100 pixels in height except the one I had selected.
  17. I noticed that Auto Close sometimes automatically fills in a colour when closing a shape despite no colour existing in the swatch at first. However, manually changing it afterward stops it from doing that.
  18. I also noticed that it isn't possible to break the start and end points from each other with the tool. Old method: Line Width Tool: Also, the tool seems to make each curve curved and I don't see any way to make them straight lines between points?
  19. I just had a thought. It would be nice if there was a Clear/Reset Profile button on the top toolbar settings for the Line Width Tool to be able to completely remove all the points from a curve in a fast and easy way. Double clicking all of them or using the Curves panel are a few more extra steps. Also, it would allow you to create a keyboard shortcut for the operator when the tool is active.
  20. You can also use Links to be able to achieve the same thing by switching between Photo and Designer. Another reason why this feature needs to exist in all 3 programs.
  21. It's still relevant because the Photo and Publisher Personas do not have this tool. Not to mention that the panel is still useful for doing stuff such as saving your curve profiles. It needs improvements.
  22. It would also be nice if the artefacts on heavily bent curves could be reduced.
  23. Also having issues getting good results out of Expand Stroke from some of my Line Width Tool experiments.
