Bubily got a reaction from pauldub in "Collapse All" Option in the Layers Panel
This + it'd be great if we could collapse all layers, like in Sketch for example where you just hold option/alt before tapping the arrow next to the layer in order to collapse all the sub-layers and groups inside the parent layer.

Bubily got a reaction from HenrikF in Duplicate a layer by alt + drag & drop in layers panel
Weird no one replied here. I'd really like this also. I copy stuff via the layers the panel all the time in Photoshop. Useful stuff

Bubily got a reaction from Patrick Connor in Automatic grid disappears when zooming in
Indeed you have. Checked it out right now and all seems to be displaying properly on both iPad and Mac versions. Many thanks!

Bubily got a reaction from hokic in Automatic grid disappears when zooming in
Automatic grid just disappears whenever I zoom close enough to see the pixels subdivision. It's not document specific but it just started happening randomly on every existing document and every new one I make in Designer. Automatic grid in Photo works just fine though for now. I've tried making a custom grid and what not but subdivisions are just broken now. Don't show no matter what I try.
Also, since it started happening for whatever reason it's really heavy on my MB Pro when I zoom in. Temperature skyrockets in seconds.

Of course this wouldn't be an issue if Serif would just make it possible to save and reload the layouts!

Bubily got a reaction from USD in Affinity UI Suggestions
Some minor suggestions that could make the app user experience a bit nicer in my opinion. Screenshot for reference:
1. Why is there no separation between the various bars here? It all blends together and makes it all look like a big space-wasting blob. Also, I think the scrubber sliders don't even need a background Having just the selection handles visible, and the background completely or partially transparent (like the ruler) shouldn't affect usability but you'd get a bit more visible canvas estate.
2. I'd love an option to use the tool belt as any other studio window in the app. Any screen bigger than a laptop leaves a giant unusable gap bellow the tools so undocking them and using them as a regular studio would be nice. In my case for eg. I could dock them below the navigator and they wouldn't even use that much space but they'd be as useful as they were.
2b. Pretty sure this was already requested but collapsible studio windows Adobe style would also be great.
3. I've already commented on a different thread about this but might as well mention it here again. Please make an option to disable the hints bar. It's a complete waste of space for anyone at least a bit experienced in the app's shortcuts. I don't remember the last time I looked at it seeking help but I regularly curse it for taking away my valuable screen estate when using my MacBook without an external monitor.
Thanks for listening 👋

Bubily reacted to Sean P in Pasting layer effects results in double values
Hi Bubily,
Thanks for letting us know - this isn't actually a new issue, it is something that is already with development to be fixed. I'll get it bumped.
Thanks.

Bubily reacted to SerpentEagle in "Collapse All" Option in the Layers Panel
It would be very nice if you could collapse all layers at once in the layers panel. Layers become very difficult to work with when you have many of them since selecting objects expands the parent layer, so you have to scroll back up and manually collapse them yourself.
Perhaps you could have it so that layers are only expanded for as long as the item within it is selected? That way, after deselecting an object, the layer expansion goes back to its previous state, which is ether expanded or collapsed. Am I making any sense?

Hi Bubily,
Thanks for letting us know - I'll get this passed on to development.

Hi Bubily,
Unfortunately this is a known issue that is with development to be fixed. I'll pass your comments along and get it bumped with them. Thanks for letting us know.

Bubily reacted to A_B_C in Option to remove the hints at the UI bottom
Check out the trick described here:
https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/84387-hide-the-bottom-status-bar-that-shows-the-hint-text/&tab=comments#comment-445972
It still works … 😀

Bubily reacted to carl123 in Hide the bottom status bar that shows the hint text
As you probably know hitting the Tab key will hide most controls in the program, including the Hint Line
If you want to reshow all controls except the Hint Line then after pressing Tab
Use View > Studio to unhide the studio
also on the View Menu, you can then reshow the Toolbar, Context Toolbar, & Tools
The Hint Line will remain hidden
Unless you only plan to do the above once or twice a day you might want to invest in an external Macro or Scripting program that will do it all for you using a simple shortcut key
Edited: 4/6/19, Looks like the above persists even after restarts

Bubily got a reaction from A_B_C in Option to remove the hints at the UI bottom
I don't know about Publisher but in Designer and Photo that entire bar is used only for hints and it's killing off a solid piece of screen estate on my laptop. When I hook it up to my 4K screen it's not a big deal but it's still completely useless to me and just plain ugly. Option to disable that whole bar would be perfect 🙌

Bubily reacted to Diana222 in Anchor handles snapping to grid
Using pen tool to make anchor points works fine, handles are moving normal. Editing that anchor points handles with the direct selection tool makes them snap to grid.

Bubily got a reaction from Vladimir Krstic in Toolbar Reverted to Defaults After The Update
Yes! I'm very nit picky about my workspace and when an entire customized UI area gets reset for no apparent reason it's not fun.
There can be exportable workspace setting, Adobe style workspace presets, or ideally, account based cloud synced workspace settings. Same goes for keyboard shortcuts and what not.

Bubily reacted to Vladimir Krstic in Toolbar Reverted to Defaults After The Update
Toolbar customization reverted to defaults after the update to 1.8 or 1.8.1(not sure when it occurred) Tools and panels looking good, nothing touched. We really need workspace settings to be able to export.

Bubily got a reaction from PanthenEye in Stroke Width
Right, well that's a bummer. Stroke width tool, shape builder tool and Photoshop's rotate canvas tool are probably the most important things missing from Designer for me (and probably many others).
Do you have any estimate when these tools might get implemented? It's already been 3 years since just the width tools has been mentioned heresooo.. yeah

I just bought the software and I see this topic is 3 years old. Any update about this feature? Kinda essential for me as an illustrator

Bubily reacted to pcote in Copy / Paste Layer Effects
Hello MEB and Affinity Team,
About this feature, would it be possible to simply Alt-Drag the "fx" icon from a layer to another to duplicate the effect? Also, just moving the "fx" icon should just move the effect to another layer. Photoshop has this feature since a long while.
Thanks guys!

Bubily reacted to MEB in Wacom Pressure sensitively in Designer?
Yes it does support pressure sensitivity. Make sure you have Pressure selected in the Controller's drop down in the context toolbar of the Brush Tool.

Bubily reacted to Peregrin in Stroke Width
I've been having a lot of trouble with getting lines to be the right thickness using the current system. The ability to more easily refine line thickness would really make things easier.

Bubily reacted to Bri-Toon in Stroke Width
Sure thing. If you do assign shortcuts, then they will be in Preferences - Keyboard Shortcuts - View menu - Rotate Left/Right.
For finger gestures, Preferences - Tools - Enable Canvas Rotation with Trackpad.

Bubily reacted to Bri-Toon in Stroke Width
For this much, you can assign keyboard shortcuts for canvas rotation, and you can enable finger gestures if you have a touchpad. I hope this helps.
