  1. Firstly I apologise if I misled you. I have played around again with 'Mission Control" and the result are different to my earlier attempts and whatever I select in the 'options' pop out the results are the same. I have to agree with you it does not seem to be an OS problem. The thing is it is now working correctly for me and open dialog and images all open on my main screen. Obviously that is what I want but I am unable to identify how?? I hate not being able to figure this out.
  2. Sorry if it does not help. I have to admit that this problem has only been with affinity apps I cannot repeat it in adobe apps or any other image programs. All I can say is selecting > option > Assign To - All Desktops, panels and all toolbars disappear and image opens on 2nd monitor. - None, image opens behind panels on second monitor as before. This Desktop, open dialogue and images open on main screen. Unfortunately I don't have any further suggestions at the moment.
  3. Totally fed up with this situation I began to wonder if there were ways around this problem, and the good news is I found a way. Apple are great at making things complicated with reinventing their OS regularly and as a single user I had not considered the fact that it is now possible to set up more than one desktop. With 'Mission Control' it is simply a matter of creating a second desktop and then the process is to start the app (in this case Affinity Photo) then option click the AP icon in the dock and selecting which of the desktops desktop you want as the main window. Next image you open will be on the screen of choice. Hope this helps.
  4. Same problem, I have always used second monitor for palettes with all graphics applications but going crazy trying to find a solution in AP.
  5. This is a problem with a number of windows (i.e. save, save as, export, document set up etc.) that drop down from the menu bar. The top of the work area is the best location for the toolbar but having to keep moving it is a major irritation, would it not be better to make all windows fully floating as there does not seem to be any reason for these to be drop down.
  6. It's not just a nicety, unless it is possible to place guides while nodes are selected they (the guides) are virtually useless for precise work.
  7. Had notice from app store of update so installed. but frustratingly to then have to completely reset my preferred working layout across my dual display, it would be a good idea to be able to save workspaces, is this a feature likely to appear in the future. I also find opening images still open behind palettes on secondary display.
  8. Hello Leigh, I have just installed a PCIe SSD and a clean install of OS X 10.8.5 ( this thing is fast, just a couple of seconds for startup) but when I installed the wacom driver 6.3.15-1 the restart took an age. I then tried AP and as before lots of lag (just with the in painting brush). I then uninstalled the wacom driver and startup was really fast again which pointed to a wacom driver problem. I then reinstalled the older 6.3.11-3 driver and performance was restored. Then tried AP (1.4.2) again and hey, all is well. Don't ask me why, it has just been a matter of trial and error, and if I had not been installing a new drive it might have still been an unsolved mystery, a bit like the days of scsi (1990s) even when the length of cable (sometimes just a few cms.) would cause a system to fail. Anyway, thankfully, I am back in action with AP. If I figure out the problem with the driver or if there was something else that conflicted I will post again. Many thanks for your interest. Les.
  9. Hello again, How frustrating, just tried el capitan and latest wacom driver.... it works fine but as I said with the amount of legacy stuff it would cost me a small fortune to upgrade everything (in particular display profiling software and colorimeter costs) it looks like, at least for now, its back to 1.4.1 and probably worse still ps cs6. PS. Besides I find the look of the post Mountain Lion (mavericks to el capitan) stuff ugly and frustrating to work with.
  10. Hello Leigh, No, it has no lag when using a mouse (wireless) but I get quite a few seconds lag with the wacom so it is unuseable. I have the recommended driver for OS X 10.8.5, I do note there is a later driver but states it is for 10.10. I can boot into 10.11.4 (el capitan) so I'l try that with the newer driver. Unfortunately I have too much legacy apps to run full time in el capitan so it seems for the moment I will have to continue with v1.4.1 for the most part.
  11. There has been a new problem introduced with the 1.4.2 version that did not exist in 1.4.1. Although it works ok with a mouse, the inpainting brush has too much lag with a wacom intuos pro. Mac Pro 3,1, OSX 10.8.5, 24Gb, radeon 5770.
  12. Objects change scale when copying between apps. Designer(1.4.1) to Adobe Illustrator(CS5) OK, but copying the same object in the other direction(illustrator to Designer) reduces the object to approx a fifth of the original size. This happens when copying to Photoshop(CS6) and even to Affinity Photo(1.4.1). Worse when copying the object again from Affinity Photo to Designer it is reduced even more. To re-test this I used simple rectangles and the results were always the same. 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB, OS X 10.8.5 Just tried the same exercise on Macbook Pro running El Capitan OS 10.11.2 and Designer and Photo 1.4 and it works correctly, so it would appear to be a backwards compatibility problem. Unfortunately my main system is the Mac Pro and at this point in time I am not able to upgrade the OS.
  13. That did the trick, my fault I thought I had removed all the betas, many thanks it's a great program. Les.
  14. I have discovered an irritating bug when double clicking on a file icon to open in Affinity Photo (paid for version 1.3.4) I get the message that the Beta version has expired and should download new version. The image was modified and saved in AP with .afphoto extension. Mac Pro 3,1 graphics ATI Radeon 5770 OS X 10.8.5
  15. I do not know how to change the icon that appears when opening Affinity Photo but has always been possible to change icons on the mac desktop. I don't often bother but some of the latest Mac icons are less distinctive (as are some from other software vendors) and so it reduces the comfort factor of my personal working environment, so I change them. When I have time I may create my own or as in the case of Affinity have just replaced them with the older version, at least for now.
