  1. there are multi-step workarounds for getting the desired results -sometimes- but not for every workflow or intention.. it's soooo simple on desktop, i don't know why it's not a quick option in the layer panel itself: "Make selection from pixels" - sounds like a winner to me i often use a selection of pixels to create new layer masks or edit others on different layers - the flood/smart selection tools are very touchy and are never 100% accurate! please add
  2. very strange missing function! thanks for the info - will the macros in that thread only work for Affinity Photo, or Designer as well? they downloaded as Photo associated files secondly, is the function of editing a layer mask in 'layer mask mode' also missing? as in, your canvas becomes black and white after clicking into the layer mask itself (so that you can paint in black or white with visual precision)? i use that feature and layer selection almost as a lifeblood when compositing. i'll add pixel selection as a feature request, but curious about mask editing..
  3. as posted, on Desktop (affinity Designer/Photo / Photoshop, etc) this quickly and PERFECTLY selects a pixel layer. think 'marching ants' - not a rectangular transform selection. this works especially well for very fine lines or rasterized color gradients, etc. it honors slight variations in pixel opacity. however there is no way to do this on the iPad version of Designer or Photo, at least i cannot find it. every site i ask this question on seems to think the selection tools suffice (flood, smart, etc), but i've found that's not the case. adjusting tolerance endlessly still doesn't give me a perfect selection of pixels. on Desktop apps,i like to use a selection like this and use it to paint black or white in previously created layer masks, or even use the selection to 'punch out' that shape into a new mask. but the selection tools available in the toolbar make it look harsh or jagged, especially over high contrast backgrounds. please advise, am i missing something or is the functionality not included on iPad? this doesn't work with a BT keyboard either, as Cmd+Tap Layer does nothing. thanks!
  4. in the keyboard shortcut editor, 'zoom toggle' is notably absent from the list of editable shortcuts. i would absolutely LOVE it if i could change this to 1. CMD and then 2. +spacebar (in that specific order). disclaimer: i have decades of photoshop muscle memory. general fact: control, option, and command are nearly universally modifier keys, meant to be used first in a two-key combo. affinity's use of spacebar first, then command to zoom into my document is the only software i've personally run across that reverses this concept. i use the zoom shortcut every 30 seconds in the type of work i do, sometimes even more. i play the desktop keyboard the way a guitarist plays a blazing metal solo when i'm designing or illustrating. now, i know there's a lot of Affinity crossover with photoshop's tools and shortcuts, so it would almost be better for me to have a different zoom shortcut entirely to get it further away from my aforementioned muscle memory. because of this one specific, seemingly 'petty' issue i have with affinity products, i've basically given up on using them for any serious work on desktop. i get much more use out of the iPad versions because zoom is logically replaced by a gesture. I see other posts on various sites bringing up this issue, and the claims are that this request has been submitted to affinity for years now, probably since v1. i'd be so incredibly appreciative if this was seriously considered and implemented. thank you for reading and namaste!
  5. Not sure if this thread is still active, but I've found this to be incorrect, at least on the current build 1.9.3. on ipadOS 14.4 See my video example of the unwanted hairline stroke (where all objects have no stroke enabled) which -does- export visually, via raster image. Considering this isn't discussed more often in these forums, I'm wondering if it's just a bug for a few of us, not everyone? Expected behavior? Thanks! PreciseClipping-iPadAD.MP4
  6. Hi there - after the early July update, the "Import from Photos" section changed for the better in terms of UI, but the devs seemed to have taken away the ability to access photos synced from your computer - meaning, I can ONLY choose iPad-native photos - which are extremely limited because almost no one takes pictures with tablets. Including myself. Where did the options go? I had thousands of pics to edit but now have access to maybe 20, including screenshots and selfies and other things I don't want to edit in a professional capacity. Do i really have to go through and mark all my MacOS photos as 'favorites'? Something is off here, any help would be appreciated! Best, n8r
