c_moon got a reaction from walt.farrell in Very long loading time for RAW files.
Hi Walt. Yep. It said I couldn't enable hardware acceleration anyway as I don't have a supported graphics card. I can't actually change the settings as, in accordance with help, "The setting is inaccessible if Affinity Photo is unable to detect a compatible GPU on your system". Thanks.

c_moon got a reaction from Patrick Connor in Update notification on startup
Thanks, Patrick. As far as I can see, my Bitdefender firewall is giving full permissions to Photo, both beta and full - but I'll keep checking.
In the meantime, The Affinity Photo Help says this :
Software Updates Sets the frequency to which the app will check for any software updates. You can switch off update checking by selecting 'Never' However, I can't find this in Preferences under Edit where Help says this setting is. Does this not exist any more? If it does, perhaps this has been changed somehow...

c_moon got a reaction from Patrick Connor in Update notification on startup
Well, there you go .. Just logged into Photo Beta and the update available notification popped up - hopefully will continue to. As far as I am aware, nothing has changed my end since last night when I still had the problem. One of life's mysteries ...

c_moon got a reaction from Chris B in Cursor hand
Hi. If I select a tool and then use the space bar to get the hand cursor icon to move the photo about, when I release the space bar the hand stays showing instead of immediately reverting back to the original tool icon. That feels odd.
Often, the hand will change to the tool if I move the mouse, which isn't ideal - or click which I may not want to do as that activates the tool.
However, in some cases the hand remains there (again unless I click or) unless I move it to the tool bar and back again (without clicking, doesn't need to be the same tool). This has happened with the floodfill tool, selection brush and colour picker - I haven't tried many other tools.
Thanks.

c_moon got a reaction from Chris B in Denoise - from filters v live filter from layer
Hi. Trying out the two methods of denoise filter with the same settings, I get a very different look from each method - much smoother using the destructive filter. Is this supposed to happen this way? Same result on 1.7.0.367 and beta 1.404.
Thanks, Nigel.

c_moon got a reaction from PaulAffinity in Affinity Photo Customer Beta - 1.6.0.88 / 89
Automatic inpainting on finishing a panorama is so many times quicker now! Previously, quite low CPU usage and 100% disk accessing, so not doing anything. Now, up to 100% CPU usage and very little disk accessing. Compared again with latest 1.5 - amazing difference. Thanks.

c_moon got a reaction from nschall in Affinity Photo Customer Beta - 1.6.0.79
Total non-tech person here, but when comparing the same photo in 1.5 and this Beta, the colour in Beta has gone weird and there is clear banding- as though its down to very few bit colour. I guess related to the colour problems others have mentioned. The navigator view looks OK, but then that's small. The histogram has also gone weird. In 1.5 it's nice and solid - in Beta its like a series of vertical lines as though the depth of colour has gone.
