  1. I just had to reset my Affinity Designer to the default...because after the 1.6 version release it stopped responding to my huion tablet in the sliders ( found the answer actually in the forum).....but it took me forever and a day to back up all my brushes and such .....can you guys build in a "batch user preferences feature so with one click we can export all the brushes, styles and shortcuts on that day into a file...that woul cut down recovery time immensely....just a thought
  2. Agreed.....exact same tablet....exact same issue after the update. I did what you guys said...and it worked..however will I have to do this every time you update.....it took me forever to back up all my brushes and such. At the very least can you build in a "sae user preferences batch feature"..... J
  3. I am working on some Sci-fi stuff....and need to place circles as a stroke pattern.....is there an alternative to this....I know Ai has the pattern brush...any equivalent in AD
  4. I am working with a rose petal and need the gradient to follow the SHAPE of the base line for the object.....so that it flows ( see illustration)....any thoughts on how to make this happen, I tried a linear gradient but it looked straight and flat against the curvature of the shape
  5. No worries.....just use the pen tool.....create 1 point.... hold shift and then click on another point...you will see it go yellow and because you are holding shift it will be straight Your pencil tool should only be used for roughing in lines........it is never a good idea to use it for straight lines. I came from traditional art...saw the pencil tool and thought that was may answer too......took me months to realize digital does not work the way I think it should J
  6. You know what feature would be great ......the ability to have a gradient follow a curve outward...similar to the pic where it would flow with the shape of the origin line ...so maybe you could set a linear gradient and then adjsut it using handles and nodes......similar to a line....maybe it already exists and I am an inexperienced user.....could be that too
  7. Hey guys......so I was working on my new course...and got the the lesson on making brushes.....sooooo I had to amek some brushes. I made a set of fog/ smoke brushes in raster and a set of silky smooth stroke brushes for your vector applications. I have learned so much from the people on the site....I wanted to give back, so here ya go . I am working on new blog post and some new art using them....so I will keep you in the loop Feedback on them is always appreciated, I love making these sorts of tools Jeremy , www.7thseasonstudios.com Stroke brushes -7th season studios .afbrushes Smoke and fog brushes -7th season studios.afbrushes

  9. Hey there fellow Affinity Photo and Designer folks...... Just wanted to share with you something we created for a student...they requested and infographic on shortcuts.......so we created the attached pdf. if you are into shortcuts, we took the most used from each emnu and sorted them out in a way that made sense to us......not rocket science , just a nice tool for you to use Keep creating Jeremy Hazel
  10. I created a filigree image brush for use in designer ( I have attached the png and the file thaat we exported from), I used a 1000 px by 1000px image, but the thing distorts over any little hiccup ( see the screenshot of the pattern it creates. THis is my first brush like this and I am not sure what I did wrong I included the png I used, an example of what it does on the page, the brush file and the origin file for the png to help.....thanks for the support Thanks for the help filligree 2 brush.afdesign Jeremy affinity doodle brush pallete.afbrushes
  11. Maybe I am not doing it right....but the skies overlay macro will not show up as an importable macro......any thoughts? I loaded ur macro pack a while back and have done some of my own....this is the first problem I have had....anyone else?
  12. Perfect....you made it simple man
  13. OK well quick follow up on this one...I did end up just creating 45 shapes and arranging them and covering the overlap with the stroke layer....sooooo that is what I did. However I did learn a lot since then and am actually teaching on Udemy now with Affinity......so thank you so much for aall your help early on J
  14. Awesome, that takes me closer and is definitely a more advanced move than I would have thought of .......hats off to you J
  15. I am working on a project where I have a pattern of rectangles....so 5 individual rectangles. And I have grouped them. How can I almost "bend them" as a unit from the bottom to distort the ( ie making the group more crescent shaped or "U " shaped. Do I have to rasterize it....convert the entire group to 1 big curve......I have been trying....and no luck example file.afdesign
  16. I am working on an african mask with small circles that progress from large to small in a pattern is there any way to say take an ellipse....then copy , reduce it 20% and move it 30 pixels to the right .....and then have it repeat the pattern for 4 more instances ( resizing eaach time and moving each time). I tried power duplicate for the spacing...but the size is the challenge . I almost am looking for a macro or an expression to run or record lastly is there a way if i make 5 of them by hand I can distribute them along a curved line ......that would at least be some of thee work down I have attached the file so you guys can see.....the shapes are right under and above the eyes J

  18. Huh....ok...I will give it a shot.....thank you sooo much to the commuity members helping me with this journey....I am not finding it hard to get help here.....especially for someone not familiar with digital art. .I am at least confident that a live paint type tool is not available yet....this helps . N Next challenge. I have each shape drawn...but then when I snapthem sometimes the line width doubles as they snap....( i.e. see the attached file....I have figured out the coloring idea), but see how the line art looks awful because each shape has a 2.9 px width ....and some times this make the width COMICALLY large.....any suggestions as a wrap this project up. Thank you for your help....I am making steady progress Rose practice 3.afdesign
