Power Duplicate scales by the ratio of the first duplicate's size to the original object's size. It has no knowledge of how the duplicate's size came to be.
Currently, there is no tool for repeatedly duplicating with application of an expression such as "w += 8; h += 8" which would increment the width by 8 and height by 8 for each iteration, but it has been requested.

Text on a path using Affinity Publisher is the only way I can see how to do it using Affinity menus. But then that's been in Publisher since release.
The only other way I think in Designer is to create the text, convert to curves, ungroup group, add as curve, press A then individually pull the nodes to a projected path holding shift.

It's not fun. Affinity must be holding out until version 2.0. There is no logical reason we should be waiting five years for this feature.

According to James Ritson's reply to a similar question on yesterdays Lockdown 2020 YouTube presentation, we will be seeing a significant update for Windows 10 which will be using GPU acceleration. Apparently this is still in the testing stage, but is very quick. Looking forward to the Affinity Suite making use of GPU RAM in the same way other software is doing.

I truly appreciated that they kept those examples, which showed some flaws (like, Queen's diamonds on her dress or Einstein's hair "stuck to the chalk board).

But the results look amazing nonetheless.

I received an email from NVIDIA promoting a new technique for converting a 2D photo into a 3D image. Article quotes:

'To convert a single RGB-D input image into a 3D photo, a team of researchers from Virginia Tech and Facebook developed a deep learning-based image inpainting model that can synthesize color and depth structures in regions occluded in the original view.
"Classic image-based reconstruction and rendering techniques require elaborate capture setups involving many images with large baselines, and/or special hardware,” the researchers stated in their paper, 3D Photography using Context-aware Layered Depth Inpainting. “In this work, we present a new learning-based method that generates a 3D photo from an RGB-D input. The depth can either come from dual-camera cell phone stereo or be estimated from a single RGB image."
'To show the potential of the project, a separate researcher from Google has taken the code and developed a Chrome extension that turns every Instagram post into 3D images. Developers interested in setting up the extension can follow the tutorial to set up and run the project using NVIDIA GPUs on the Google Cloud Platform'

Is this something Affinity Photo might have on the horizon? This isn't simply cutting away chucks of an image to then move in a parallax motion, the technique actually looks to give objects 3D properties.

Also see YouTube link using this technique on old historic photos. The results are amazing. The picture comes alive!

    Hi again,
Further to the other things, we are looking to add more support for game art users - can't promise this for 1.9 but we are working on it..

(I have two documents open here - you can see the texture itself, the other document is the normal map - both are being edited and a realtime preview is being rendered on a .obj model in the new Model panel).
    Thanks,
    Andy.

I don't even know where to post this. Just seen Affinity's Facebook post about giving away the entire Affinity Suite free for 90 days, with a 50% option to buy as well. I'm telling everyone I know to get this, try it for 90 days, or buy it if they want. People trapped indoors during this coronavirus lockdown and having something like this to learn or just doodle about with is a very smart decision by all of you at Serif.
So thanks, and if I didn't already own the suite, I'd buy it again. In fact, might just buy Affinity Designer for iPad as a gift.

UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (free for existing customers)
The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in Help > About Affinity Designer).
If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the Affinity Store software it will check for updates and offer any available update. The latest update will install over the top of any earlier version, with no need to uninstall. You can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "Download" button in there. Alternatively, this new release (and previous versions of Affinity Designer for Windows) can be downloaded from this link (that installer is NOT for Windows Store purchases and needs a product key).
If you’ve purchased from the Microsoft Store— Microsoft Store updates are done automatically by the operating system (each time you start the application). If this does not happen for you, open the Windows Store app and click the three dots in the top right corner of the app and then go to Downloads and Updates. Click Get Updates. This should hopefully force the update to show.
