As PeteMacca mentioned, issues opening some HEIC files is currently logged with the developers for resolution.

I confirm the same issue. The file Design (2) tested on 3 devices:
M1 Mac: takes some seconds to start, the ok when zooming / panning iPad Pro 2018 10.5 inch: Slow, lags severely behind to draw screen, rendering issues Windows 10 PC:
totally unusable. Designer fully utilizes 1 of 16 cores for several minutes. During that startup time, it is unusable / unresponsive to any input.
Designer complaints about missing fonts. 
After waiting that time, Designer is usable (panning / zooming).  M1 Benchmark:

 
Windows Benchmark (GTX1080, 8+8 core Ryzen, 32 GB Ram):

@Lee D can you please test this file on
(a) any M1 Mac
(b) on Windows 10, any Ryzen CPU, any Nvidia GPU. Both Photo and Designer become totally frozen for about 5 Minutes, whereas the Mac reacts more graceful to user input.
The difference between both platforms is so striking - hope this could give some insight where the performance breaks under windows.
For me it seems like single-threaded operation despite 15 of 16 cpu cores idling. On Mac, more cores get utilised (270% M1 vs. 8-12% Win)

Thanks for spotting this. Issue logged. 

Among many other things that could be shared: YES, definitely!
This will be hopefully changed one day. In the meantime you can copy assets.propcol from APu to AD or vice versa.
This is the the path on Windows: "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Publisher-or-Designer-or-Photo\1.0\user\assets.propcol"
 

I know what makes that file hard on the device is the blurs and effects being applied to each shape composing the dragon. But how did the creator work on it then if not on some super performant computer? Working on it on iPad Pro 2nd Gen is impossible, just moving any of the shape takes minutes, the redraw is super slow. No improvement on 2015 15" Macbook Pro with discrete card. 

I was expecting performance to be very decent on the 2nd iPad Pro. Am I missing something? Changing performance options on the Mac didn't improve. But I care mostly about the iPad. Is it normal that selecting and moving shapes on this file is that slow? I first thought the problem was the noise effect which always takes a bit t redraw, but it's similar without it: it's the effects being applied on the shapes, namely the blur being used to shade the dragon. By removing all of those, the file is workable. It simply is a chore to select and do any operation, I can't imagine creating it on an iPad. 

So I suppose this was NOT created on an iPad but a much faster computer, or?

I am trying to create some illustrations in Designer that are based on shapes being shaded through effects such as inner and outer shadow, but I don't see myself making it on this iPad Pro at least. I will try to make it through rasterizing, hoping it will improve things. But Im a bit worried about performance overall, also in Photo: should I expect it to operate as fast as Photoshop for similar actions or it's inherently slower engine wise? I expected the opposite. But I don't remember having that much trouble with several Photoshop layers on Photoshop five on a Celeron 366 Mhz computer in 1998...Sure the resolution of the images was much lower, but come on, here everything screeches to a halt once I add some five objects with effects...I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but can someone please tell me about the Black Dragon sample on iPad Pro and how I would be supposed to work on it? I'd find it impossible unless I first try to raster the shapes and I haven't tried if that would work.

I have some loaded assets in AD.
When I run Publisher - selecting designer persona - opening assets panel - it's empty. Because assets panel belongs to publisher.
I think it would be good if assets would be shared between AD and AP. Am I right?

You created your circles with the "Donut" tool, create them with the "Ellipse Tool" instead, convert them to curves and "Expand Stroke" will work as expected.

In case anyone might be having a similar problem: It seems that my project had become corrupted probably by a glitch/crash in 1.9.0. To fix it I created a new project and copy pasted the shapes from my old file into it. Since doing that the new file has worked reliably (on 1.9.1 that has some fixes) for several days and I'm reasonably sure this was the right diagnosis.   

Hello there! Is there an option to show name of the brush? I have a lot of brushes and it is pain to understand what brush it is..
