I am following the Mask Layer Compositing tutorial, however when I try to place an image, instead of the image showing up in a small window as in the tutorial it completely covers the background image and I cannot resize it. I have Snapping enabled. How do I get it in position like the tutorial?

I am following the Mask Layer Compositing tutorial, however when I try to place an image, instead of the image showing up in a small window as in the tutorial it completely covers the background image and I cannot resize it. I have Snapping enabled. EDIT: I posted this in the iPad thread instead since it seems more appropriate there.
