lepr got a reaction from D.VE in Layers wrongly added to artboards
Use the little button at bottom left of Layers panel to disable Edit All Layers, and then the Artboards will stop stealing the "global layer".

lepr reacted to Dan C in Vector warp tool crops text outline when rasterising
Hi @Kasper-V & all others here,
Thanks for your report and our sincerest apologies for the delayed response here. We are exceptionally busy following the release of V2 and we thank you for your continued patience and understanding here.
I can confirm I've been able to replicate a few issues here, with the Warp Group clipping the stroke when rasterising, as well as clipping occurring after converting the text to curves and then expanding the stroke for these curve objects - both of which I've logged with our development team.
In regards to the objects being clipped at specific zoom levels, this is already logged with our team so I will be sure to 'bump' this issue with the thread now.
I hope this helps!

lepr reacted to Ash in 2.1 Beta Build 2 (1709) release notes
Hi All,
We're happy to make the second build of the 2.1 beta available today - 2.1.0.1709. This should now be available for you on auto update.
Here's some of the main changes in this build:
Guides
Had a lot of great feedback on guides - thank you. In this build we have:
Added Alt-Click to delete a guide Made Alt-Shift while dragging snap to delta. We had already made holding shift snap to ruler units from page origin. What this new option gives is if you have a guide placed at, say, 35.3mm from the page origin and you want to move it 10mm - you can now drag while holding Alt-Shift to snap to that difference. Of course this also works if you have alt or cmd dragged a duplicate of the guide If guides are currently set to not visible, then dragging out a new guide from ruler (or moving an existing guide from indicator on ruler) will automatically turn guide visibility on in all OSs Crop Tool
Enter as well as return now commits a crop Escape now resets the crop Brush Panel
Generally tightened panel up somewhat so less vertical space was being used. Brush names if you have chosen to show them are now justified to left Light UI should now hopefully look correct Modifying a brush using drag shortcuts (e.g. ctrl+alt+click drag left and right) keeps brush selection in panel (and shown as modified as appropriate). Raster mesh and perspective live filters in pixel persona
Now added correctly in Windows version so the live versions of these filters are available Have now added to pixel persona in the iPad version of Designer. You will have two new options under the + button in Layers panel where you can choose to add either of these live filter layers. Vector flood fill
New icon has been added for tool to distinguish between the raster flood fill tool in Affinity Photo When you are in tool you can now drag and drop swatches directly from the swatches panel into any area the fill tool recognises from your selection If you are in "In Between" mode the additional shapes / fills which are created are automatically added to your selection so if you subsequently change the fill of them again additional shapes are not created. Bitmap fills are now supported. This means you can pick a bitmap fill swatch from swatches to use as your fill colour (or drag and drop a bitmap fill swatch into the appropriate area). Few notes on this: Currently if the bitmap fill has transparency this will be added as an additional fill (in appearance panel), so can be added as a texture over an existing colour fill. It's a cool feature, but we probably need to add a modifier / option in context toolbar about whether you want that to do that vs. replace the fill altogether. You will notice in the context toolbar some new options for min, max and stretch to fit. These options are only relevant for bitmap and gradient fills and determines how the gradient or bitmap are scaled within the new fill being created. A nice thing to try is when you are in fill tool you can drag from assets into your active colour on the toolbar to automatically create a bitmap fill to use - as shown in the video below. Texture Fills.mov
Blend mode shortcuts
Erase bend mode now available to configure on macOS and iPad Ordering of blend mode list and default keys should now be consistent between operating systems Close All
Apply to all check box now been added to macOS dialog if you have currently open unsaved / modified documents.
Various bug fixes
Of course there are also various bug fixes - you can find the list of these on the second post in the fix list thread.
Thanks again for all your help.

lepr got a reaction from Guillermo Espertino in How to Edit the Alpha Channel
@Guillermo Espertino: By now, you should be doing your own experiments to ascertain or discredit my (and others) claim that Affinity is not storing premultiplied RGB values in pixels and is instead only setting RGB to zero where alpha is zero while storing straight RGB values when alpha is any other value.
If you are struggling to do so, I can try to help.
-
lepr reacted to NotMyFault in How to Edit the Alpha Channel
I disagree, what you describe as "premultiplied" its definitely not what I described as "not premultiplied".
As other people besides my person provided more than sufficient evidence to disprove your claims, I step away from continuing this discussing to avoid endless repetition of the same arguments. All is said. Everyone can find claims and arguments from all involved document here, and build his own conclusions.

lepr got a reaction from NotMyFault in How to Edit the Alpha Channel
Your example is deeply flawed. You have chosen to use one of the only eight RGB colours, out of the available 16,777,216 RGB colours, that will be faithfully restored by the division following the multiplication.
@NotMyFault was correct.
Check the attached file which uses a gradient from black to red instead of your solid red.

Thanks for your further tests, I can confirm I've been able to replicate this here and I'm getting it logged with our developers now

lepr got a reaction from Dan C in Copy/ Paste location is different between documents?
The destination document has physical units, namely millimetres. We have been told that its PPI is half that of the source document.
In the video, the object's physical size is being correctly maintained because the destination document has physical units.
However, its top left corner physical coordinates are being scaled by two, as if the destination had pixels for document units.
I've now tested the pasting behaviour in Designer 1.10.6, 2.0.4 and 2.1.0 beta. All are misbehaving in the same way.
When the destination document has pixels for document units, pixels size and pixels origin of a pasted object are correctly maintained. Good so far.
However, when the destination document has physical document units, physical size is correctly maintained for a pasted object, but the object's physical origin is scaled by the ratio of source PPI to destination PPI because its pixels origin is maintained by mistake.

lepr got a reaction from myclay in How to Edit the Alpha Channel
There is no need to avoid alpha zeros in either 8 bpc or 16 bpc if you intend to export to TGA or PNG.
The key to making Affinity export intact RGB where alpha is zero in TGA or PNG, is to have the alpha as an object at top of the layer stack, as you did with the mask.
You could have put zeros in the mask instead of using a tiny value; an exported TGA or PNG would still have intact RGB.
Try exporting TGA and PNG from this version of your 16 bpc document with zeros painted across the mask: RGBA new.afphoto
Alternatively, try exporting from this 8 bpc version: RGBA new 8bpc.afphoto
Open the exported files in Affinity and fill their alpha channel to reveal the intact RGB, even where alpha was zero.

lepr got a reaction from Alfred in Vector Flood Fill
Filling an unfilled region of the source objects results in the generated shape being placed at the very bottom of the document or Artboard's layer stack instead of just below the lowest source object. Not sure that's an actual bug, but it seems wrong to me.

lepr got a reaction from Intuos5 in Copy/ Paste location is different between documents?
When destination document units is pixels, the pasted object should maintain size and top left location measured in pixels.
When destination document units is physical, the pasted object should maintain size and top left location measured in physical units (in Designer and Publisher, but not in Photo).
There is a bug when the destination document units is physical and the source and destination have different PPI: the pasted object's size is correct but its top left location is wrong. See my next comment for further information.
Edited once again: there is a bug.

lepr reacted to Dan C in Rasterise menuitem ellipsis
Hi @eluengo,
Thanks for your report.
As you've mentioned;
However I can certainly appreciate the expected results when an ellipsis is used in a menu label, so I will be sure to pass this feedback through to our development team.
As Walt has mentioned, there are times when this menu option will invoke a further dialog, so I will be requesting a change for this ellipsis to show when the option will invoke this dialog, and not to show when the action is performed immediately.
I hope this helps!

lepr got a reaction from ℓurié in Knife tool doesn't work with fonts
Workaround is to scale the document to 1 pixel wide, do the operation, then scale the document back to original size.
That should give the devs a clue.

lepr reacted to debraspicher in Thank you, Serif
Thank you for taking all of the feedback from the forums and making strides to be more accessible during development. (I haven't seen any other threads on the topic, so I had to make one)
The "new" Beta forums work better than the "old" forums, imo. This is a winning formula. It is more organized. The context provided regarding each feature add/decision makes it much easier for me to see where to prioritize feedback. I've appreciated the peek into the development process, but more importantly, that we can participate in the process.
I can only speak for myself, but thank you for this. For taking the time to open up the process and more importantly, being awesome. I'm genuinely excited to see where things are heading and I think that V2 will be more awesome than V1 given some time.

lepr reacted to GRAFKOM in Adds a rectangle around the page when you double-click the Rectangle tool icon.
In all Affinity programs: (Windows)
1. Double click on the Rectangle Tool icon to create a rectangle around the page or selected Artboard.
2. Double click on the Rectangle Tool icon + SHIFT creates a rectangle around (if created) the page margin or the margin of the selected Artboard.
3. Double click on the Rectangle Tool icon + CTRL creates a rectangle around (if created) the page bleed or selected Artboard bleed.
During my design work, I very often need a rectangle around the created page, so double clicking on the rectangle icon will create a rectangle the fastest, regardless of the size of the page.
Of course I will pay for it. Everyone will benefit from it. what cost?

lepr reacted to JariH in Copy and Paste Part of Curve Objects
My vote too!
Copying part of the shape/selected nodes would make building of complex shapes much easier. Please, Affinity. A little thing to speed up the workflow.

lepr reacted to peexel in Select and move 2 or more handles simultaneously
Selecting and moving the handles at the same time would be very nice and it opens up a whole new world, coming from Inkscape and a little bit from Illustrator I didn't think they can do that too, I don't know how difficult it would be to implement this feature, but it would be really useful.
example:
Move them simultaneously in one direction
move internally or externally of themselves
in line with each other.
I don't think Affinity Designer has this feature and it could be something exclusive.
-
lepr reacted to IncognitoMode in Alpha Levels Adjustments no longer nest correctly in Affinity Designer V2
Thanks for this!
I think I will wait for this bug to be fixed, as doing this to several hundred layers across hundreds of projects will be too complex. Hopefully this bug is addressed soon!

lepr reacted to Intuos5 in Ask to import preferences and shortcuts from the commercial version of the apps
Please, add the ability to import preferences and/ or shortcuts that were assigned in the commercial versions. That makes it a lot easier for us users to get up and running quickly to do a few tests of the new features.
-
lepr reacted to Patrick Connor in Ask to import preferences and shortcuts from the commercial version of the apps
This is a good suggestion and something we are working on already, thank you.

lepr got a reaction from Joshua Stamper in Knife tool not working for certain elements
Your ledger lines all appear to be black, so you can select them on that basis and put them into a Layer to make them easy to access by disabling Edit All Layers:
select any one ledger line do Select > Select Same > Stroke Colour press cmd+G to group do Layer > Promote Group To Layer use button at bottom left corner of Layers panel to disable Edit All Layers There will be a few black vertical lines in addition to the ledger lines in the Layer, but you can move them out of the Layer.
You'll find the document much easier to work with if you give it a structure with various Layers for the various features of the notation.

lepr reacted to maxen in node tool - pull curve tangential option
Would be great to have an option to switch the "pull curve" behavior from the standard spline mode to a "tangential" mode.
